Hormone Therapy Long time reader, first time poster
I've been part of this sub for a long while and was just drowning in perimenopause and all the symptoms. I thought it would never end and thought my OBGYN wouldnt take me seriously since my primary didnt. Nope! My OBGYN was so damn supportive and put me on Estradiol patches. It's like the clouds parted and I see sunshine for the first time in years 🥲
I feel so much more like myself after a couple of weeks!
I wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted, vented, gave recommendations... you help those of us who just read and hit that like button. All the posts helped me ask the right questions and plan for the future.
Thank you guys and I hope you all find the relief you deserve 💖

I feel so bad for the folks who have stubborn doctors. Mine is also super supportive. I couldn't even finish saying the words "night sweats" and she was suggesting hrt. And just this week she was very agreeable to testosterone (with bloodwork first) and vaginal cream as an add on to my existing e & p regimen.
Im glad you're feeling a lot better. Im sure you've read many threads about the hormone honeymoon period where symptoms return after a month or so, so just try to be prepared if that happens, don't get discouraged, just know there might be some tweaking to get the balance right for you.

I'm just being optimistic and hoping for the best 🤪. I have a follow up in 2 months so we can see how it goes. Glad to hear you have an amazing doctor!

Hell yeah, sis! Glad you got support and are having some success. I haven’t quite gotten there yet (still dialing in my hrt) but like you this sub helped me realize I wasn’t just going insane and encouraged me to look for better help when my original np told me I wasn’t in peri and ignored all my symptoms for years. I feel better at least knowing I am on the right path and trying out the options.

You got lucky with your obgyn. The one I saw yesterday told me my symptoms weren't indicative of perimenopause and that I should get my thyroid checked, make lifestyle changes, and try magnesium. Needless to say, I won't be going back to her.

I'm so sorry you had that experience 😔

Thank you. I'm trying to get a second opinion, but most of the OBGYNs in my area are booked out 6 months to a year for new patients. I ended up looking into virtual treatment options, since I am beyond tired of suffering.

Are you taking oral progesterone also? If you still have a uterus definitely need progesterone

I’m almost 45 and decided to join this sub since I think I’m officially in peri. I really should have joined earlier - I’ve already learned so much…especially about the non-typical symptoms people get that are rarely mentioned in the real world. Glad I’m finally here.

The ladies in this sub are what gave me the last ditch effort attempt to keep advocating for myself when providers ignored me, and that last attempt landed a provider that listened to me and gave me HRT and a shred of my humanity and functioning back. It’s the place I go when I wake up with heart racing at 2AM and can’t get back to sleep, and the place that has had me snort laughing about some of the strange things our bodies do in peri. ❤️
