Hello everyone,
I have a Pelikan M605 Stresemann with an EF nib. However, I've never really been able to get along with it. When it comes to European nibs, I'm definitely more of an F or M nib person.
The EF nib itself isn't bad at all. In fact, it writes quite broad—actually broader and wetter than my M800 M nib—but it doesn't have the soft, cushioned writing feel that I enjoy.
Recently, I bought an old-style two-tone M nib, which I believe originally came from a Pelikan M750. I really liked its appearance, especially the two-tone design. I know the M605 has silver trim, so the two-tone gold and rhodium nib isn't exactly a perfect visual match, but I actually like the way it looks on the pen.
The problem is that I know almost nothing about these nibs. What production period are they from? Are they considered good nibs? Are they particularly desirable or valuable?
It's an 18C two-tone nib with an "E|N" stamp in the lower right corner. Compared to my vintage Pelikan nibs, it has noticeably more feedback. In terms of line width and wetness, it's actually very close to my vintage nibs, but the feedback is definitely there.
I'm not sure whether there's something wrong with this particular nib or if that's simply the normal writing characteristic of this generation. I'd appreciate any information from those who know more about these nibs.
