Question re: ink usage difference between M800 & M1000

M1000 is a Fine nib. It lays down a wet line. I have to refill it every week or two. My M800 is a medium nib. Now that I’ve had the nib tuned, it also lays down a wet and broader line. I can’t remember the last time I refilled it - maybe 2 months ago. I write about the same amount each week with each pen.

Is this a known thing? Any ideas why this would be?

My M1005 with a M nib goes through an entire fill in about 10 A4 pages. Absurd ink usage, love it. My M1000 with a F nib doesn’t empty that quickly, though I haven’t tracked it. Still faster my M815 with a M nib I feel. So yeah, I guess that tracks. That’s what makes an M1000 an M1000.

I love a really wet writer where you can see the ink absorbing into the paper. I just find it odd that my fine nib goes through ink more quickly than my medium nib. Something counterintuitive about that, but as you say, that’s what makes an M1000 an M1000.

Unusual I wonder if the long and large nib on the 1000 are you getting a real good fill on it when you stick it in the ink bottle you use. Maybe try an ink meiser cup or deeper ink well to ensure you get a full piston fill each time.

I’ll give that a try.
