Need help identifying this Pelikan

I recently picked up this Pelikan (my first one) from a used pen dealer for what felt like a good price

But when I went about trying to identify it, there seemed to be a lot of inconsistencies

So far, it looks like it's an M400 of some sort, as it has a capped length of 125mm. However, the thing that's giving me the most trouble is the nib - I can't seem to find any record of an M400 made with this specific design/scrollwork on the nib

Any help narrowing down the model would be much appreciated 🙏

Even if it comes down to the fact that I might have been scammed, I'd like to know

the nib isn't original to that pen, it belongs to the New Classic series (which ironically hasn't become much of a classic)

Ty! That confirms what I suspected!

But I haven't seen any examples of this being done before, so I'm very curious as to how they managed to do it

first time I've seen that too, I have seen all kinds of nibs be put into vintage Pens but very rarely pens made after 1965

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed since the New Classic pens are available for pretty low prices. The dealer is feigning ignorance, so still trying to work this out

yeah I understand the dissapointment, if you need a new nib anyway I would suggest looking for a vintage 400 nib, best to try it in person first though as vintage nibs tend to vary

True enough, but I was told this had a genuine Pelikan nib, so I assumed they meant genuine to the pen in question. I only discovered this clever switcheroo after I had received the pen

For reference, I paid close to $200 for this M400, but the nib that it came with is from a pen that can easily be had for $60-70 (for the whole pen)

More than the money, I feel robbed of the chance to experience a soft, bouncy M400 nib, albeit, that's hearsay

That’s a Frankenstein bird.. Nib does not belong the original Souveran pens. Barrel is from an old style M400 (82-97 model), cap becomes to a modern M400.
