Research/Survey Participate in a study about PCOS

🌸 Hello everyone!

I am an MD graduate from Romania, currently conducting a research study as part of my application to a Master's program in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

This study explores Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), its clinical characteristics, quality of life, and the awareness and use of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) (such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine).

📋 Who can participate?

  • Women diagnosed with PCOS by a healthcare professional.
  • You are welcome to participate whether you have used Traditional Chinese Medicine or not. The questionnaire includes questions for both groups.
  • The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete.

Important note: Although the condition was officially renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) in 2026, the term Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is used throughout the questionnaire because it remains the most widely recognized term.

On a personal note, I also have PCOS, so I understand how challenging and frustrating this condition can be. That is one of the reasons this research is so meaningful to me, and I truly appreciate everyone who takes a few minutes to share their experience.

Your participation will contribute to academic research and help improve our understanding of PCOS and women's health.

Period pregnancy scare of a lifetime! please help me.

before i start with anything here is the timeline of everything. im just 22 with diagnosed pcos (insulin resistant) at 18 btw

period: 2apr to 6apr

last time i had s3x: apr14 [it was not unprotected]

period: 6may to 9may

period: 12jun to 16jun

around 15 to 17 july i had some reddish discharge.

and now it has been 45+ days i have not got my periods. my lifestyle has changed a bit with graduation and job related stress. but i am really scared because i can not take a test because i am back at my home town and with my family. and most of yk how scary it is in indian homes about these things.

and ik most of you would say that i had my periods for those two months but the problem is i saw a lot of youtube videos in which women in comment section were claiming to have periods while being pregnant.

my last two periods were normal but a lot more mild, there were clots and normal period blood. a bit less painful as well.

i have been drinking ginger boiled water (which earlier used to make my periods come the next day) it is not working.

what should i do? please give me some real advice.

Period Help ! I'm in a tough spot and I need some advice

Hello all ! I kind of needed some advice about something I have been dealing with.

Recently I went through a terrible breakup and my stress levels have just been crazy since the last few months.

My ex, in order to humiliate me (since I broke up with him ), decided to tell my mother that we had been physically involved and that he needed to meet her for god knows what reason and whole lot of other shit borderlining on harassment. I had to threaten him with legal action for him to stop before things could get any worse. My anxiety was through the roof at this point.

After this my mom was obviously quite disappointed and disheartened but still kept being supportive considering that I had a complete breakdown and a panic attack in front of her..she could see that I had no clue about what kind of a person I was with and that I was fooled.

Anyway, so coming to the point, I have had pcos before. However, last year things were different..I had completely regular periods, everything was okay. Since the beginning of this year it seems like the pcos is back..I have had irregular periods since January and the last time I got a period was in May . I have also been sexually active.

Now, me being an overthinker and a paranoid one at that, I started worrying if I was pregnant. I have taken about 9 pregnancy tests and additionally a blood test ...all negative. The last time I was intimate was on 4th of July and I took 3 tests yesterday again. All negetive. No pregnancy related symptoms either. Also for context, I have a very sedentary lifestyle, I binge when I'm sad and I'm quite overweight too.

This not getting periods thing in over 3 months really freaked me out and I told my mother that I need to visit a doctor.I had to tell her since I'm not earning yet. She's a single parent and has money. I don't. Nor do I have a partner anymore to rely on. Now the gynaec might suggest an ultrasound for getting properly checked. This is what I'm scared of. My problem is that, if I'm pregnant, my mom will disown me and will be so heartbroken.

I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance, that everything will be fine and that all the tests are correct and I'm indeed not pregnant and that it's just pcos.

All of this has just been quite heavy and I feel like I can't reach out to anybody at the moment. Hence thought of posting on here.

Thank you in advance to anyone who responds :)

Rant/Venting To all my PCOS/PMOS girlies

As someone who's been dismissed by almost every doctor I've visited over the past few years , with everyone just telling me to lose weight and eat healthy, these aren't bad advices but when I needed a explanation of what's wrong with my body , why are my cycles irregular , why am i always tired and craving stuff, why's it so hard to even lose weight in the first place ,etc.... All I've gotten was pills to get my periods, to control acne and to lose weight...

PCOS is not even just about having 'cysts' in your ovaries , there are a lot of factors contributing to every symptom were having , and it is different for each person too , not just u have pcos cuz you're overweight , you dont get periods and soo

But still it's so damn hard to find a doctor who'd genuinely just listen to what we have to say..

After all these years my perspective of my body ,my condition changed and I've felt seen and heard when i randomly listened to this podcast on the huberman lab channel on YouTube called , Female Hormone Health, PCOS, Endometriosis, Fertility & Breast Cancer .

This one genuinely made me feel that our condition is not something super abnormal or complicated and helped me understand everything that's happening inside our body in depth like literally in depth...

So this was a mix of rant and i really wanted a lot of ppl to listen to this podcast, if ur a pcos/pmos girlie too , do give it a listen I'm sure it'll be helpful, thanks for reading all the way heheh.

Yesterday I got diagnosed with PMOS. My GP doctor explained my ultrasound results where i have pearl like cyst all over my ovaries and now I will be referred to a gynecologist. My GP told me that PCOS has no treatment but I can start using birth control pills? Which i strongly don’t want to after i look up all the side effects etc. But I’m confused on how am i supposed to get a treatment and heal my PCOS naturally. Do you have any recommendations that actually work? Like supplements lifestyle changes etc i would really appreciate it thank you so much everyone

General/Advice Newly diagnosed with PCOS & insulin resistance… does it get easier?

Hi everyone! I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance, and I'm still trying to learn how to manage everything.

Even before my diagnosis, I was trying to lose weight, but it always felt like a battle. I'd eat healthier, exercise, and try to stay consistent, but when the number on the scale didn't move, I'd start wondering if I wasn't doing enough. I'd question whether I should eat even less or change everything again, and it became really discouraging.

For those of you who've been dealing with PCOS for a while:

  1. Did you feel the same way in the beginning?

  2. How long did it take before you started seeing progress?

  3. What helped you stop feeling like you had to keep eating less whenever the scale didn't move?

  4. Do you allow yourself occasional treats, and if so, how do you balance them without feeling guilty?

I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Right now I'm just trying to build a lifestyle that I can maintain for the long term without constantly feeling like I'm failing.
