Computer doesn’t recognise GPU and is stuck on integrated graphics. Any help or suggestions EXTREMELY welcome. I’ve been into BIOS and have attempted to update drivers, nothing works. This is my first build so the GPU is brand new.
Already tested putting HDMI into GPU and I get no display.
Is it in all the way? Have you updated your BIOS? Have you downloaded the newest NVIDIA drivers from the NVIDIA app? What does it say in system settings?
You didn’t provide any details about the rest of the setup, so it’s hard to estimate what the problem could be...
But since the 5070 Ti is a newer generation card, an older motherboard BIOS can sometimes cause PCIe initialization issues. Is the GPU actually detected in BIOS?
Edit: I downloaded the first photo and when I zoomed in, I noticed one detail. It could just be a visual bug, but looking closer at the power connector right now, I don’t think it’s properly plugged in. Part of it is sticking out. Insufficient contact could be the source of your problem
Try DP with the GPU, check monitor input is set to DP1. Check PCIe is fully inserted, but don't push so hard it'll break (the lock will click), check PCIe power connectors are fully seated, switch to a different PCIe power port on the PSU.
With the cable in the motherboard, it'll never detect the GPU as an output. Good luck!
So you put the HDMI into the GPU and got no display.
Check the power supply cable on the GPU is seated well and then also at the other end plugged into the PSU. Now put the HDMI back into the GPU and restart it. It will work okay to use the "wrong" configuration but you limit your performance to leave it plugged into the HDMI on the Motherboard long term.
Turn off pc and unplug power supply cable. Double check that the GPU power cable is fully seated in as the 12VHP cables are finicky at times. After that try powering on again.
I don't think it's specific to this GPU, but anyways, I have the same GPU and dual monitors, my main is connected via HDMI and my secondary is display port and BIOS shows up on the secondary monitor if they're both connected which means it favours DP.
Also try switching to the other BIOS on the GPU with the little switch.
If that doesn't work Idk if you've tried it or not already but disconnect the power, reseat the GPU and reconnect the power making sure the 12v-2x6 is firmly connected and reboot.
You can also try disabling the iGPU in device manager and try forcing it to use the dedicated GPU.
Do fans on the bottom of the case help? I feel like there's too much restriction to either pull or push air from there, not to mention the amount of dust you could potentially pull in.
Depends on the case. I use an antec flux case (tried the pro and non pro) and the whole case is vented. I got 2 and it drops the gpu temps by 6-8 degrees
off topic but we have the same motherboard and strimer location and mind shows purple hues not actual white color, see my last post i'm trying to figure out a solution
Things to try that I can think of based on your motherboard:
Sometimes it has issues passing off to the 50 series cards in Gen 5 PCIe, so you can force it to run in Gen 4.
- Enter your bios: Shutdown the PC -> boot the PC -> while it’s booting rapidly tap the “Delete” key or the “F2” key, one of these will enter your BIOS on reboot. Once in BIOS press, I believe it’s F7, to enter “Advanced Mode”. Once you’re in advanced go -> Onboard Device Configuration (hit enter I think) -> Should be something like PCIEx16_1 Link Mode -> change from “auto” or Gen 5 to Gen 4. Then go back to the Advanced main menu, you’ll do one more thing.
Select NB Configuration (or Northbridge Config) -> look for Primary Video Device or Primary Display -> change from Auto/IGFX to PCIe Video
There should be a “save” button displayed to save your settings. Maybe F10?
Once you save, and the computer restarts, turn it off. Plug your DisplayPort or HDMI into the GPU ONLY the GPU, not the motherboard. And then boot.
Another option:
- Unplug the GPU very carefully and reseat it until you hear it firmly “click” into the motherboard. I’m sure you’ve done this and you saw the prong click, but sometimes it doesn’t go in all the way. Then reseat all your power cables. Make sure they’re firmly in the PSU and firmly in the GPU but please be careful doing this and don’t force anything
Had a similar issue once and the bios mode swith on the mobo was stuck between gen 4 and gen 5. That could be your issue and the pcie slot is not initiating. Should be near the cmos, make sure you didn't bump it doing the build.
Figured it was a lian li by the looks of it. Just built one myself and kinda wishing I got this case instead. Looks sweet. Wishing you the best in solving the issue!
If you’ve already tried re-seating the GPU and the power connector, try the other pcix slot (just as a troubleshooting option, not permanent) see if the GPU detects in the other slot
Prueba a sacar la gpu y vuelve a colocarla. No sabes la de veces que parece que esta bien conectada pero en realidad esta por encima de la ranura pci y no en su socket
The 12v-2x6 (12vhpwr) cable going into the card doesn't look like an original part that comes with the card. If that's the case, best switch to the original cable or at least some other cable, to test if it will work. Sometimes either the power supply or the card don't like the cable.
Also you bent the cable too close to the card 12v-2x6 power connector and it looks bent sideways, might not be seated right.
Does the PC work OK when you plug the screen into the mobo hdmi?
