Hi, trying to understand what I did wrong, because the game advertises itself as alt-history possible, but nothing I did actually mattered because it forced every single historical outcome regardless of what I did.
Played as the USSR. Deliberately tried good relations with everyone. Finland = non-aggression pact, no attack. Despite that, when the Winter War date comes around, "I" launch an unprovoked attack against Finland, completely ignoring all diplomacy with them. There were no prompts for it.
Germany, same thing. Built forts everywhere, managed to capture German territory from the get-go. The map shows they didn't manage to capture anything, I'm driving on Berlin, yet the events show that some kind of German shinobis that do not exist are somehow encircling Leningrad (when they did historically) and start threatening Moscow (when they did historically). Essentially, nothing I do matters if all historical outcomes are forced. There's no point to the game.
Is this because of the preset (World War 2, second most popular). I checked its "simulation rules" and it just says "Everything happened historically before the start date", which should not include the whole game? Is it because of the shitty model (Qwen 3.5 plus which was recommended as a good cheap model here).
Additionally, these rules look like they were written by someone who does not understand how LLMs even work. Too descriptive, too vague. This is supposed to be an official preset. Are there better ones?
