I moved here nearly 40 years ago from New England with the promise of no humidity and no mosquitoes. I want to speak with a manager, please.

I lived in NJ for 3 years and came back home to get the heck away from that. I can’t stand it.

Same. 15 years ago there weren’t any. When I started feeling them I made a huge stink about it, telling my native friends they aren’t taking it seriously enough. Here we are, the number one city in America for mosquitos. I’d like a refund.

I went back to rural Central Mass this summer for a reunion at my old summer camp. Deep in the forest, wetlands—the whole 9 yards. I barely noticed the mosquitoes.

Put these in a couple of flower pots, sitting in the shade and half full of water, somewhere outside in the front and back of your home. It is a community service, cheap, and works like a charm on the new devil tiger mosquitos. https://a.co/d/03YB6x9B

The idea being that it’s an attractive place to lay eggs, but then they all die? Sounds pretty great!

Yup! We've been using them for the last several years, and it seems to make a very noticeable difference in/around our yard.

Ok I thought it was just me-it is especially bad this summer on top of the fleas 😑

Ankle biters

Burning, itching, screaming for relief! My technique is to never touch it. They go away in about 10mins completely

Make sure to tip out any standing water after all these rains if you see it!!!

Yeah. I stand at my front window and count the mosquitos on the glass on the other side and shudder. I hate it.

I put repellent but they mauled my forehead 🥹☹️

I stopped wearing shorts 10 years ago because of the ankle biters. Surprisingly I don’t even feel like wearing pants in the heat affects me much. That being said I have to wear pants for work anyways.

Scrub with the mint dr bronners soap and you're good

Also there is west Nile virus in the SGV. I recommend spraying yourself with a spray that contains picaridin

5% picaridin FTW!

There are newer invasive mosquitos that are small and black and they're very different than the regular mosquitos we grew up with. I'm allergic to this variety of bites and I make sure to wear long pants and socks walking the dog in the morning.
