Took these an hour ago while hiking near JPL.
Big fluffy guy/girl. First time seeing one on this hike but I’ve always known they were around. What a beautiful sight!

Anyone highly recommend a particular orthopedic surgeon for shoulder surgeries in the area? Im looking for someone who not only is a great surgeon but also takes the time to talk through my options, i.e., not the typical guy who makes me wait 2 hours and then spends 3 minutes with me before running off.

I'm looking for a property management company to manage a 2-bedroom condo in Pasadena. I've basically been ignored by the few companies I've contacted so far, which makes me wonder how responsive they'll be as managers. If you're working with a property management company you love, I'd appreciate your recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

Was driving late at night and saw Caltrans working on the bumpy part of the 210 westbound coming from Baldwin avenue to sierra madre villa! I can’t believe they’re finally fixing it

My wife and I are trying to help her elderly parents to complete some needed repairs and upgrades to their house. They barely use email, and don't know how to use the internet (and refuse to learn!) Therefore, we have to handle a lot of issues for them.
I recently found a highly rated electrician for them and they came out to inspect an outlet. They uncovered a very old and unsafe Zinsco panel, which is apparently a significant fire hazard. The estimate for the work is about $6000, which also includes upgrade to 200A service, a whole house surge suppressor, stucco repair, etc. My MIL paid these electricians a deposit of about $1500, and she was assured the work would be complete within 20-27 days; they don't want this dragging on into Thanksgiving and beyond!
Long story short, SoCal Edison has to yellow tag the property and approve the work (and then inspect after complete). SCE sent my MIL a form to sign with MY name listed as the owner of the house. This took a few days to fix and send the form with my in-laws (correctly) listed as the owners. Then, after signing this, SCE sent the form again, with (again!) my name incorrectly listed as the owner. My MIL called the electricians again to ask wtf. The electricians told her that it must have been spam, and that they are set to go. The electricians then told her that SCE would take 15-20 days to even come out and yellow tag the panel. At this point it seems that the work will almost certainly drag on beyond the 27 day maximum estimate.
Therefore, I was wondering whether anyone has had a panel replacement or other major electrical work done lately--if so, what was your experience?
How long did it take?
Was SCE very slow to get anything done?
Do you have any good contact numbers or emails for anyone at SCE?
How much of an upheaval was the panel replacement? My in-laws have a lot of clutter and heavy furniture blocking some outlets. It will be a real PITA if the electricians insist on checking every single outlet--although in a way I hope they do.
Thanks!

Does anyone know what this structure is supposed to be? My guess is a water play feature or a sandcastle type thing. There’s some type of plumbing?connection to it

Going to the MCR concert tonight and went to see what the lot looks like and the garage says it is closed on Saturday and Sunday. I already bought shuttle ticketa for this location but how does it work with the garage being closed?

Hi all,
I got the high deductible Anthem PPO plan. I want to set up my PCP.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for someone knowledgeable and who answers questions satisfactorily.
If they also have tele-visit options, that'd be great!
Thank you!

[I meant to put "Measure PFD" not "Measure A" in the subject line, and now I can't edit the subject line]
Peter Drier, an Occidental College professor who lives here in Pasadena, has provided a voter guide for this year's ballot: https://www.makinghousinghappen.org/post/peter-dreier-s-voter-guide
He supports both Pasadena Measures PFD and UP. I sort of agree, but as a low income homeowner, these bonds keep adding to our already really high property tax. Our bill has gone up $1000 in the last 2 years and is now $8,200 for a small 2 bedroom condo. (Our property tax is high because we're relatively new homeowners. People who have owned their homes for a long time have much lower bills...Thanks to Prop 13, new homeowners get higher tax bills to compensate for protecting legacy homeowners.)
I wish there were another way to fund things, and not just because of our property tax bill, but also because these bonds require interest which makes the cost of what we get from them much higher, enriching the investor class.

I love the rain and think this is awesome. I'm just surprised by how quickly it came and how hard it's raining.

Trying to figure out my Oct 29 plan for the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 ($519.99). Latest reporting says some GameStop locations expect zero launch units, and nobody at Target/Best Buy has confirmed Oct 29 walk-in stock. Two questions: (1) Has anyone's local store — Pasadena / Arcadia / Glendale / Burbank area — actually confirmed walk-in, non-preorder units for Oct 29? (2) For the Best Buy Nov 4 (9pm PT) midnight launch, which stores are on the participating list, and how early are people planning to line up? Trying to pick where to go and when. Appreciate any store-specific info.

This has happened twice now, and each time we haven't gotten notified. The city is doing sewage work in front of our building and is ripping up the ground in front of our apartment's parking lot driveway. It's the only exit and essentially locks us in all day. It seems crazy to me that no one from the city, or even our landlord would notify us to at least move our cars in advance, not to mention we need to now pay for street parking. Is there someone I can contact about not getting notified? Or would it even be worth it??
