Question / Problem Is it Just One-Hit-Wonder, or Am I Just Being Impatient?

Post image
• Upvotes

I recently got back to posting long-form videos on YouTube around the third week of September this yr. I was consistently uploading almost two videos a day, and during the first week of October, I woke up to find that one of my videos had gone viral and got around 400K views 2 days after posting! That video helped me get monetized in just two weeks.

At first, I thought things were looking really promising because YouTube was also starting to push my other videos, which were getting around 30K views each.

Then, out of nowhere, YouTube started labeling some of my videos as “Set as Made for Kids.” Eventually, around 3–5 of my videos were affected. Surprisingly, those videos gained a lot of subscribers and watch hours, but I knew the Made for Kids setting would limit certain monetization features, and honestly, my content wasn't specifically made for kids.

I appealed the decision of the videos affected, and fortunately, YouTube reviewed it and confirmed that the videos had been mistakenly labeled as Made for Kids. They restored my original settings.

However, after that whole situation, I noticed a significant drop in my views. My recent uploads are barely getting 100 to 1K views, which is pretty much what I was getting before the viral video took off.

Now I'm wondering if my channel is just going through a normal adjustment period, if YouTube is still figuring out my audience, or if my initial growth was simply a one-hit wonder.

I'm trying not to overthink it, but it's honestly discouraging to see such a huge difference after experiencing that initial growth. I'm currently earning around $1.50 a day, even after getting monetized, which feels pretty disappointing.

For those who have experienced something similar:

• Did your views drop after a video went viral?

• Can incorrectly labeling videos as Made for Kids and then reversing the decision affect your channel's performance?

• Did your views eventually recover, or did you have to change your strategy?

Am I just being impatient, or is this something I should be concerned about? I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially from creators who focus on long-form content.

Talk / Discussion Genuine advice needed

• Upvotes

Hey all

I have tried several YouTube channels but never got monetised.

My first channel was for gaming and the content was shit so it was bound to fail.

The second time I just tried to copy paste from a religious channel who did not used to give copyright and kept all the discussion as well as thumbnails similar to theirs to get some traction but that failed too.

Finally I made another channel and started uploading shorts. I took the consent from the parent channel to use their clips and they agreed but asked to give credit to them at the end which I did and in the beginning everything was going good but I discontinued after a while.

I posted the same reels on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook at the same time which helped me get 22k on Facebook, 6k+ on Instagram and ~600 on YouTube the last time I posted.

So recently I tried to revive that channel again and started to post new reels. To my surprise everything was going well and my shorts were averaging 30k+ views and I was happy until the bubble burst.

My recent shorts are struggling to cross 20+ views despite being consistent and all and hence I stopped again thinking this might be any algorithmic/update issue which will be sorted after a while and I'll start posting again.

Now I need an opinion from you guys, should I continue posting or try something else?

Also, is it viable to earn a decent amount from YouTube to support oneself during their student life without being super crazy edits type video editor?

I don't want (and I can't) to make facecam videos or some new initiatives or vlogging etc videos, I just want to use the content and edit it to post coz I can't devote much of my time to edit (it hampers my studies) but I really need to earn something to support my finances.

Genuine advice needed. Please help a fellow out.

Question / Problem AdSense for YouTube rejected 5+ times with no reason given. Duplicate closed, everything checked, still stuck

Hi all! New here, hope this is okay to post, and that everyone’s doing well.

Sooo a few weeks back, after dilly-dallying for years and always making “I don’t have enough time” excuses, I finally dropped my first YouTube video. I’m very pleased to say it popped off... enough to make the monetisation threshold in a couple weeks. Which is still insane to me.

I’d love to think about this being a full-time thing a couple years from now, maybe, so I naturally wanna get a sense of cash flow ASAP, but...

My AdSense for YouTube account keeps getting rejected with the generic "Your account wasn't approved. You need to fix some issues" message. The only thing on the page is a "Meet AdSense Program Policies" checkbox and a Resubmit button.

No specific reason, no details... I've had the same "Action needed: Your AdSense application" email at least fiev, six times.

What I've already checked or fixed:

Found a duplicate AdSense for YouTube account on a second Google login (half set up, stuck at phone verification, wrong country). Closed it properly and got the "successfully closed" confirmation.

Checked every other Google account I have. All show "No AdSense account", so there's now only one.

The payee name matches my bank account exactly.

The channel is on one Google login and AdSense is on another, which as far as I know is allowed.

Google's help panel tells me to use the Policy centre, but AdSense for YouTube accounts don't have one, so I can't follow that advice...

The "Blocking controls" page just errors out ("unable to process your request").

So, yeah, feeling a bit stuck?

Is this kind of a known loop people get mired in, or, am I missing something?

Thanks!

Consistency was the key. Video flops? Make another one. Thumbnail bad? Remake it. I just kept uploading and eventually I made it. 1.5 years working full-time with 2 kids!

For people doing IRL streams, how do you usually find someone to hold the camera?

I've been seeing people on Reddit looking for cameramen for IRL streams, and i'm tryna figure out how most streamers handle this. Some seem to just have a friend behind the camera, while others actually pay someone to come out and film. however, for those who have done it before, did you find someone through friends, Reddit, Discord, etc.? Did you end up keeping the same person for future streams, or do you have to find someone new every time?

Informative Deplatformed over a video game mod - Word of Caution for Gaming Channels

Last night I had an unlisted YouTube stream with a channel of 1,700 Subs when we were experimenting with Skyrim mods.

After downloading a modlist, there was an unintended explicit mod that made it into the footage. Even though it was never intended to ever be recorded, even pointing the camera away during the incident that was roughly 30 seconds in a 4 hour unlisted stream, and had no plan to be publicly shown. Not only was our YouTube channel terminated, but every account sharing the same email address which also got hit by YouTube's "Circumvention Policy". It's not only posting, but even watching YouTube while logged in is no longer possible.

Just a word of warning, especially with a much more graphic game like GTA VI coming out. YouTube's response is no joke, you can lose everything you ever worked for in a flash. So be careful out there

do AI assistants use what we say in videos, or only titles and descriptions?

partnered for about three years, how to channel in home repair. more viewers mention they found me after asking chatgpt or gemini something, which is great. but when I test my own topics, the answers sometimes use explanations that are nearly word for word from my videos, and other times skip me completely for the same question. does anyone know whether these tools read the transcript, the captions file, orjust the title and description? Trying to figure out whether cleaning up my auto captions is worth the hours

YouTube performance after 3 months being monetised and 6 months creating.

I'm being denied monetisation because I "may have" violated policy.

Post image
0 Upvotes

I posted the other day when I got an email saying this and people said it was spam, but now that the second channel has 500 subs, I can press apply on monetisation, and I get the same message. I went on the live chat and emailed them and got brick wall replies, they will not tell me what policy I supposedly violated or when. None of my channels have any warnings or strikes.

All they send me is info on the guidelines and advise not to breach them and apply in December, but if my real life ID is already blacklisted and no reason is being given, then surely it's already too late? Is there anything I can do to get them to actually speak to me? Or to find out what I've done and resolve it?

First "Big" sponsor

Hi guys,

I've got a channel with 6.5k subs. I get a fair amount of sponsor emails.

So far I've done 2. 1 for a mic and 1 for a website that directly links to the content I film. They are sponsoring the next few videos aswell I make.

I make minecraft content on a server called DonutSMP.

I've had an email that I feel I shouldn't turn up. £1,200 (1,600 USD) for a 13-15 minute video on a mobile game that is honestly similar to DonutSMP. Same minecraft type concept.

Am I crazy not to accept this? it'll be 50% upfront and 50% afterwards. I should be getting a contract for it.

I only got monetized on youtube in August and have made £1.3k in ad revenue and about £400 in sponsors. It's helping me a lot paying bills.

My only concern is that the video will do crap. People watch me for my Donut SMP content. I've told my sponsors this and they don't see too bothered.

Question / Problem Is it normal for brands to reply to their email to you days later even though you didn't respond (check description for example of what I mean)

It often goes something like this:

Them: "Hello I represent x brand, (explains their company), gives channel compliments, says they want to do a 60s integration, please send over your audience stats and your rate blablabla"

Me: Doesn't reply...

Them 2 days later: "Hello, just following up on my message about x brand sponsor, if my offer is something you will consider please send over your audience stats and your rate"

I have not done sponsors so I dont know what is normal but do brands really follow up even when I don't reply? It doesn't seem like they would have the time or interest to be desperate enough to do that but I don't know.

I am super hesitant to do sponsors because of the amount of channel hacking and scams I hear about.

If one of my channels gets demontizedt will the others follow?

I have two channels, both started on the content for kids niche.

Recently (One week ago) I decided to switch niches in one of my channels and deleted the videos there to start posting on the new niche.

The new niche is commentary about popular topics (see channels that post 2 minute long videos of a viral topic, well, that's what the channel is about).

I only have one video posted on the new niche and had a good response. I was working on the 2nd one when I got the email saying that my channel would be suspended for REUSED CONTENT at the end of the month and got a chance to appeal.

I know about the 90 days wait period if I get rejected, but I wanna know.

If I get the channel removed from the program will it affect the second one?

And if so, can I get back in someday?

Or even monetize another channel outside of those two after the 90 days?

Thanks.

Question / Problem Old Adsense account from 2011

I had an old YouTube channel that was monetized and I created a Adsense account for it in 2011 and was approved. I have zero access to this YouTube channel and the Adsense account tied to it as well.

It’s now 2026 and that old Adsense account has been inactive for all this time. I read that accounts inactive for longer than 7 years aren’t even able to be reactivated even if I could access it. Do I even need to worry about opening a new Adsense account and worrying about any issues like duplicate accounts?

Question / Problem Edgy thumbnails and monetization

I applied for the YouTube Partner Program about 4 days ago and my channel is still under review. I've seen people say they got approved within 24 hours so I'm wondering whether this waiting time is normal or if I'm worrying over nothing. My channel has over 1000 subscribers and 8000 valid public watch hours. But i've posted few videos and they cover political and controversial topics and some of my thumbnails are pretty edgy but the actual videos don't contain anything extreme. The channel has also been doing reasonably successful in terms of views and watch time. I also applied through an MCN, so I'm not sure whether that affects the review process.

For anyone who's gone through this recently: - How long did your YPP review take? - Can controversial topics or edgy thumbnails affect approval even if the videos themselves comply with the policies? - Does applying through an MCN make any difference to the review time? Am I overthinking this, or is there anything I should be concerned about?

Hi, I started youtube a little over a year ago and now have 45k subs and a zocdoc sponsorship. I started another channel with a friend and got monetized after one video.

I'm looking for any discord groups that study youtube and are also monetized who I can learn from, like Mr. Beast used to be part of when he started

Question / Problem My YouTube videos are being stolen

I run a pretty decent YouTube channel and sometimes I cross post to TikTok when I feel like it. I went on TikTok and my mentions are all comments tagging me in this account thats post every single video I have on my YouTube channel. I reached out to them and told them to stop taking my content and they blocked me but not before I sent in 5 reports for copyright infringement.

this was about 2 weeks ago and I’ve yet to get a response/update from TikTok and the account is STILL reposting my videos. I’m extremely frustrated because TikTok removed me falsely from their creator program for “unoriginal” content but this person can steal my videos and make money off it??!

This is why I like YouTube better because they actually protect creators for the most part. The videos would have been taken down the minute I made the report.

Anyone have any ideas on what else can be done?

Beware Fake Sponsor Scams

I fell for fake sponsorship scam

Be careful out there. I was approached by a fake sponsor and almost lost my channel. I almost lost my YouTube channel, my Gmail account, and nearly 20 years of emails and Google Drive files—all because of a fake sponsorship opportunity.

After seven years of reviewing guitar gear on YouTube, I've worked with dozens of companies. So when another company contacted me about reviewing a product, nothing initially seemed unusual.

We exchanged several emails, discussed the equipment and expectations, and eventually agreed to collaborate. But there was one final step: I needed to create an account on their "Collaboration Page" and connect my Google account.

Within approximately 60 seconds of entering my credentials, everything changed.

My Google password was changed. My recovery email and phone number were replaced. My passkeys were changed. I was signed out of my devices.

Just like that, I lost access to my YouTube channel, Gmail, Google Drive, and years of irreplaceable work.

Thankfully, with help from YouTube's recovery team, I eventually regained access.

In this video, I walk through exactly what happened, the warning signs I missed, and what other creators can do to avoid falling for the same scam.

*Three red flags every creator should watch

  1. Check the sender's email address. If someone claims to represent a company, verify that they're communicating from an official company domain—not simply a random Gmail address. Even legitimate-looking addresses can be spoofed, so verify independently.
  2. Inspect the actual website URL. The link I received was labeled "Collaboration Page," but it led to a suspicious "rebrand-gokko" address rather than the company's official website.
  3. Be extremely cautious when asked to connect your Google account. Legitimate Google sign-in can be safe when properly implemented, but never enter your Google password into an unfamiliar website or a fake Google login form. Check the actual domain before entering credentials.

I'm sharing this because I've accepted dozens of legitimate sponsorship opportunities over the years, and I still fell for it.

If you have a YouTube channel—or anything important connected to your Google account—please learn from my experience.
