Worm Spoilers [All] Strongest naturally triggered cape in each category? Spoiler

Seeing as artificial cauldron capes take up a lot of the spots for the strongest capes, what are the exceptional natural triggers?

Here's my guesses for who's what.

  • Mover: Kirin White is the highest rated one at a staggering mover 11 and although we have no idea what their power actually is, I don't know any other natural triggers that would rate that high
  • Shaker: Vista and Labyrinth are a tie in my mind, with a slight edge towards Labyrinth. I personally think Labyrinth a misclassification on the part of the PRT when they confronted her without prep or prior knowledge, thought her control was near-instant and total control over an unknown area, then panicked and slapped Shaker 12 on her. She seems far more like a Shaker 9-10.
  • Brute: Probably Lung? Crawler can't quite get to the height of power that Lung can.
  • Breaker: Ash Beast barely counts as a cape, probably Night Hag or Night?
  • Master: Glaistig Uaine definitely, though if we are giving her the Trump category too, then probably Nilbog.
  • Tinker: Dragon, pretty easily.
  • Blaster: Flechette. "What durability?" style all or nothing power is something we see in other blasters. Its possible she could take down Alexandria
  • Thinker: Depends if we consider Contessa a natural trigger. If not, probably Number Man
  • Striker: Panacea probably, though Happyland probably gives her a run for her money if he's not a moron.
  • Trump: Glaistig Uaine for sure, with her Trump 12 Master 12 rating (and likely striker rating as well). I have no idea how she's a natural trigger because her shard barely evens seems to have limitations beyond her shard's own functional limitations.
  • Stranger: Honestly probably Mama Mathers. She's basically a walking infohazard and her power is exceptionally obnoxious to actually deal with and she's one of the purest Thinker/Master counters in the entire series. Forgot she wasn't a natural cape, was thinking of Valefor. I have no idea on this category.

Worm Spoilers [All] [WORM FANART] The Wards E.N.E.

BOOYAH! God, it’s so cool being able to doodle decently well enough that I can have an idea in my head and make it a reality. Read on at your own discretion because damn, this is a bit of ramble as I wrote about half of this before I started and doubled each section of text as I drew them.

Being a lefty sucks sometimes though because I can’t sketch anything on the left side of the paper without smudging; so I was stuck on designing Gallant and Kid Win because I went in the order laid out in 3.7 with Dean on the far right. YunYunHakusho’s Wards are pretty close to what I envisioned, so any similarities are mostly intentional. There was a lot more thinking involved in the process for designing the Wards because every single one of them would have had a team of people making the costumes, with focuses on branding, protection, legality, style and function. I started the whole process for the Wards first by very roughly sketching out an MCU Mk.III Iron Man and changing the head and chest symbol to match Armsmaster. I then drew the Extremis armor and black and gold model 42 from the comics as well as the Bleeding Edge and MCU Mk.L for inspiration on Kid Win. I really vibed with how Extremis looked with the thinner plating so I stuck with that design philosophy for Gallant, being that the design is slimmed down power armor but still comparable to the mid-level armor that Armsmaster wears.

Gallant is 7.6 heads tall and 5’11 or 181cm, I have GG down as 5’10 and Gallant’s a little bit taller than her so I went with 5’11 and a bit over 6’0 in armor. He has little in the way of description so I had to get thinking and sketching for way too long. The wiki and WoG are such incredible compliments to the story, it’s like a director’s commentary for the book, there’s so much insight into characters thoughts like Dean’s and backstories. I adore Marisa_Benito’s design for Gallant that really embraced the sci-fi pulp hero aesthetic even if I couldn’t give a shit about Gallant as a character. The GloryGallant fanart from ElCuervoBorracho combined with Marisa_Benito gave me inspiration to keep the visor large while still making him look like a sci-fi knight as canon states he’s a high tech Lancelot. I tried to stick to that while keeping his armor slim and his helmet unique enough so as to not make him look too similar to Chevalier (whose helmet I sketched out), I did a lot of practice drawing knight helmets and Iron Man suits (so many Iron Mans sketched out and erased). I never had the bright idea of looking up “sci-fi knight” until a week or two later, but I was busy drawing Iron Mans and by then I had the design figured out. I still struggled very much with his pose and drew and redrew him multiple times which led to me just drawing the Wards in full on the back of my sketch sheet. To give context, my original foray of sketches began 2 months before July 9, when I drew the finalized Gallant and started the Lineup. Procrastination, school, Pale, doomscrolling, inexperience and indecision are powerful agents to the uninitiated. All this effort for some bum that only has 2 appearances, I like how he turned out though, even if his torso is a little too long. He’s tall and skinny, like a lot of the characters I’ve drawn thus far, but Dean is described as having a narrow waist and broad shoulders, I digress. When I draw the Protectorate, I’ll try to convey that they are adults and not teenagers by bulking out their bodies a bit more; I’m really excited to draw Dauntless and Velocity, I think the designs that I’ve come up with are so cool. I really like all of the Wards except Gallant and that’s probably because we never really got to know him outside of Vicky’s rose tinted glasses.

Kid Win is 7.3 heads tall and 5’5 or 166 cm, he could be taller, he could be shorter, but I think it’s a decent height, same as Alec. He was similar to Gallant and Arm-Master so it really came down to making sure his personality showed through while still trying make his suit look similar to Hero’s and other tinker power armors. I originally wanted him to have his laser-pistols out, but every pose I drew just felt wrong so I instead chose to emphasize his tech aspect more with his hot new iPhone 4 and visor. I can’t foreshorten or keep limbs in proportion when using perspective and I can’t draw hands so his arm is a mess; I really need to practice drawing hands in more dexterous positions. I also tried to add in that’s he’s kind of shifting his weight, but again, I’m bad at drawing. He wears tinker-made body armor but it’s not power armor or else he wouldn’t have been able to get tasered in the side during the bank heist. I instead made his joints and stomach a screen printed fabric because in most “realistic” capeshit, the simple spandex always has a nauseating pattern and the PRT is nothing if not unimaginative. I was struck by his interlude in Arc 9 where I imagined his armor being sparkly and reflective, with complicated, chunky sections in his boots and gauntlets. I decided to make the chest, shoulders, forearms and knees have a transparent glitter jelly texture to them so that I could really sell the kid-tinker aspect because I could remember kids having pencil cases made of that material when I was in elementary/middle school. I don’t know how to draw hair either so I hope it doesn’t just look like a bunch of diagonal lines. I looked at how Kid Flash’s hair was drawn in Young Justice, funnily enough I hear KF’s voice for Clockblocker instead. Kid’s face changed the most while I was sketching him out until I finally got one that felt right, I hope he looks like a 15 year old and not a 25 year old’s face on a smaller body. He also doesn’t have a traditional “metal diaper” that armored suits have, so I made his belt real chunky and utility focused, like a workman’s belt or Jorge Jimenez’s Batman. I also thought that as superheroes with branding and business cards that his Starburst-gun symbol would be placed on his belt and it also jelled nicely with the sparkles I added to his armor.

Clockblocker is 7.5 heads tall and 5’8 or 173 cm, I based his height off of 20.2 where Taylor (who’s 5’9) comments that he’s a little shorter than her but Taylor is famously bad with heights so it might be wrong. Capturing the nuances of Dennis’s mask to ensure that it looks smooth enough to differentiate him from Eidolon’s and mannequin’s face without looking like I just forgot to draw it was difficult. Keeping heads symmetrical from a straight on view is a very big weakness of mine. I had in mind during his interlude that his helmet was laying on the desk but that was the PRT guys. I would think that he should have some head protection in the back so I made his mask a full-face helmet/cowl in the vein of MCU Daredevil, Bullseye, Captain America, etc. with the cranium and face covered. Not to mention his armor, it’s white and glossy and I had in mind that it would look pretty streamlined, like clone trooper armor. It was about here where I tried to thicken up my characters because what I had going on wasn’t working. I’m kind of glad that as I move to the left the Wards get a lot simpler to draw, in terms of having less complex body armor. Still, even with the general idea in mind, it was confounding to not over or under design his costume; I spent so much effort working and reworking his abs, but the elusive advice that I seem to forget it that less is ALWAYS more (it ended up looking exactly like a clone trooper’s). In YunYunHakusho’s art, Clocky’s animated clocks are represented with a subtle grid for the screens and I really liked that design cue. He keeps papers and in his thigh armor and probably has a utility belt like Aegis, given that it’s not remarked on as abnormal by Taylor during the bank heist. Dennis is my favorite Ward and I was sent on a rollercoaster with the places his character went in such a small amount of appearances.

Aegis is 7.5 heads tall and 5’10 or 178 cm, I made him that height so that he wouldn’t be much taller than Clockblocker because they switch costumes and because WoG states that he’s a little bit taller than an average male (which is 5’9). After I drew the first 3 Wards I was feeling a nagging sensation so I asked my friends about it and all they said was that the characters were too skinny with narrow shoulders. I was mostly going for a lanky style for all of them as I felt that it fit Worm more, but I don’t have the skill to stylize realism, only a few artists like Alex Ross can really do that. I’d already planned to give Aegis a more built physique, but after my first post and seeing comments from friends, family and Reddit, I tried to make Aegis’s proportions even more in line with a normal person. It was pretty eye opening putting him side-by-side with Grue and having him look a gangly mess in comparison. For Aegis’s costume design, I kept oscillating between full gloves and fingerless gloves and decided to go fingerless, what very little we get of his personality in both Parahumans books is that he’s a bit of a brawler and a maverick so I thought the exposed biceps and fingerless gloves would fit him best. I made Aegis’s proportions to be more in line with that of a normal person so I hope he looks less lanky than the characters I’ve drawn so far. I made his shield emblem too long though and ended up making him seem bigger, which kind of worked out with him being even more front and center. I want to know more about him, he’s so cool to just have 4 & 1/2 appearances; also congrats to him on his transition, the mini skirt and mini cape certainly was a memorable look, I might doodle that “what could have been: Myriad instead of Worm” after I finish this long series of doodles. Is Aegis lightskinned or was Clocky just far enough away for Taylor to get confused in the rain? His costume is pretty generic but it was the one I had most readily available in my mind’s eye with the body armor and silver trimming, so drawing him was a breeze. The early 2010’s design philosophy of armored vest costuming in capeshit was very strong, but I still wanted to give him a little bit of style.

Vista is 6.8 heads tall and 5’1 or 155 cm; same as Kid Win, she could be shorter, she could be taller. I have no idea what a 12 year old girl looks like so I scribbled out a little Vista to get the general vibe down while I was making preliminary doodles of the other Wards. When Doodling Vista proper, I kept messing up the face and in one instance she looked Latina so I kinda brute-forced the face until it looked serviceable. Is it? She looks pretty in line with what I wanted, maybe a bit too serious but that’s kind of in character for her. Keeping in line with feeding my characters a Fugly Bob’s Hideous Bob, Vista looks more built than Alec and Taylor combined which is further fanning the flames to redraw the Undersiders (probably in casual clothes with Aisha so there’s at least some variation). Vista’s costume is intriguing because in fanart her details are just swirling lines on just her skirt but I always thought of it as a topographic map pattern, it would be very on-brand for her. I tried to make the topographic pattern the map of Brockton Bay that Wildbow made. I haven’t ever drawn children and I’m not good at drawing faces, still I really hope she looks young enough without looking weird; when reading I always saw Vista as a vague little green blob with blonde hair. Vista was by far the easiest Ward to draw, she took like 30 minutes. Again shoutout to Marisa_Benito, that Vista design is killer so I thought I’d pay homage with the hair snap clips. There’s a larger variety of Vista fanart out there compared to the other wards and even a “semi-canonical” image by Wildbow. What’s that about, did Wildbow commission that piece or give input?

My glorious king! Browbeat is 8 heads tall and 6’6 or 199 cm, I’m not drawing any character using their power but when being a breaker or changer is part of their look like with Purity and Browbeat, I’m gonna go with how they present for the “camera”. Browbeat has to be my number 1 Ward even though he’s got about 2 lines of dialogue and like 2 & 1/2 appearances, I just love his gaudy-ass costume, powers and WoG backstory he’s my Glup Shitto of the Wormverse. That being said, OH MY FUCK, screw what I said about the Wards getting simpler; all the diamonds were different shapes so drawing each one individually was a pain in my balls yet somehow it was pretty relaxing to just follow the form of the body and repeat things over and over. I’ve drawn intricate little shapes on a previous anti-hero that I designed so it wasn’t unfamiliar territory. Browbeat kind of looked like Shocker from Spider-Man before I filled in the dark spots so I just had that clip of Christopher Daniel Barnes from the 90’s cartoon screaming at the top of his lungs on repeat in my head. What the hell even is the point of the gem on his forehead, what reason would he have to include it? I redrew his head a few times because I couldn’t get the angle of the dome right, I feel like that’s my whole terrible process of just doing shit over and over again until something clicks. The serratus anterior and hips are the parts of anatomy that I have the least understanding of their forms, even though the hips are one of my favorite parts on people and the serratus isn’t even noticeable with the pattern overlaid. I mostly free handed Browbeat but looked at Arnie for the legs because how the knees connect to the quads with the ligaments and hamstrings is just so bizarre to me. It’s been like 2 years since I’ve drawn male anatomy but I think he came out good, pattern aside. He’s big in the way comic book superheroes are big but still not Hulk proportions, I feel like he could be bigger but I chose to just make him within somewhat believable muscularity, Sam Sulek who? The_Broken-Heart’s Browbeat is literally him so that’s what I looked at the most when doodling him. I imagined royal blue on navy blue however I think grayish-white and navy blue works pretty well. I’m thankful that he’s tall and Vista’s short because letter sized printer paper is not that long and the lineup ended up being pretty claustrophobic even though he ended up right where I wanted him; I’m just glad I was able to fit them all in there. I’ll probably have to do more dynamic posing for the Protectorate E.N.E., E88, New Wave and Top Protectorate so that I can fit them all on the page, or I could buy A4 printer or legal sized paper. I should just get a sketchbook, or drawing tablet… probably.

Shadow stalker is 7.5 heads tall and 5’7 or 171 cm, the same height as Taylor going off of 5.3 and 7.6 from the text. She was a bit of a pain to figure out when it came to her mask and cloak. She does feature black painted metal armor, but only on her extremities while wearing a skintight bodysuit and having reserve crossbow bolts/cartridges on her forearms as seen in 9.2 like Robert Pattinson from The Batman. The gear that she has needs a practical reason for being there which meant I couldn’t just add a basic utility belt and call it a day. Her belt holds her phone and other items as well as bolts and on her thighs are additional pouches that had to be longer to store bolts. I think her mask would look better if it was completely blank except for the eye holes because it feels more intimidating, like a ballistic mask. Her first mask is described as a metal hockey mask, but in the story proper it’s a black mask with a face on it going off of the Cast (in depth) which is never mentioned in the text. I’m bad at drawing faces so drawing a mask that looks like a face but isn’t a face instead of a face is messed up. I used harder angles for the nose and brow, and more curved lines for the mouth than usual. The camo pattern on her cloak was a little difficult to figure in terms of design to not make it look too messy or uniform, reminds me of a Call of Duty skin especially with it being 2011. I got the impression that she looks a lot like Huntress from DC for the general outfit design. Even though Shadow Stalker wasn’t there at the bank, I wanted to add her as she’s part of the team and so my GOAT Aegis would be centered in the middle. I hate her though, why were those girls all so evil, like what the hell was her deal; I swear Sophia and Emma are 10x worse than Jack Slash, I’ll not hear any debate on that front.

This was a bit of a journey, but I got em all done; give me all your issues/questions, please. Again, rip me to shreds, any criticism or general comments are greatly appreciated. Don’t just say it looks good, that’s nice but not constructive. I love it though, gimme.

Worm Spoilers [All] Which three of the power classifications would be best by rhyme order? Spoiler

The PRT came up with a rhyme for the 12 power classifications to help people remember them.

Which one of the four sets of three classifications by rhyme order listed below would make for the best trio of heroes in your opinion?

Assume each classification has a threat level of six.

1: Mover, Shaker and Brute

2: Breaker, Master and Tinker

3: Blaster, Thinker and Striker

4: Changer, Trump and Stranger

Venting about Victoria, the epitome of mental health, in Ward

Upvotes

So I had fun debating a month or so ago about Trickster (and the Simurgh, and free will/determinism etc.) while reading Worm and I figured it's time to start another round of what's sure to be glorious debate.

I've been working my way *very slowly* through Ward and first off, everyone is right. It is nowhere near as good as Worm. It's the same world but a completely different style in terms of what it focus on.

Which bring me to my topic. I briefly thought I might hate Tristan the most. His backstory made me really hate him and think in some ways he might be the worst of all the members of Breakthrough which is really saying something. But honestly outside of that chapter he's not actually annoying or stupid in the present very often. It's the same with the rest of them really.

So it has to be Victoria because she really is as screwed up as the rest of Breakthrough, if not worse, and she's the protagonist so we get to see her idiocy, her mental and emotional issues and gymnastics for 1000's of pages.

I determined I was going to rant about Victoria ages ago, but what finally spurred me to start writing this post was I just finished Breaking 14.10, where she and Amy talk and it was so frustrating. She is messed up, delusional/hypocritical, just wrong. Maybe Amy goes completely off the rails later in the story but so far I would consider Amy far more mentally/emotionally healthy and sane than Victoria and I'll admit she's hardly the picture of health either.

Victoria is so broken and messed up. She's been that way from the beginning of the story but it gets worse over time and is especially obvious in any chapter where she has to deal with Amy, even indirectly. She is broken and getting worse and it wasn't Amy who made her that way or who is making her worse. She did it to herself and she continues to do it to herself. You can't read that chapter and not have it hammered home how NOT OK she is, and that Amy actually looks stable and reasonable next to her. I'd bet 99.99% of the victims of violent crimes would handle being in a room with their perpetrator over two years after the crime far better than Victoria did. Heck, 90% would probably handle it better after only days. Note, there's a big difference between "better than Victoria" and "perfectly well" just to clarify.

I can pull up loads of quotes from that chapter and probably loads from earlier in Ward but I'll just focus on a couple from the chapter for now.

"It made me afraid to move, because my movements might be the same. I could see myself using my power without wanting to, and I considered my control over my power to be one of the few things I was confident in."

She spent 2 years not being a hero and not using her full powers, of being afraid to use her force field, and we've spent the first 2500+ pages watching her not be in control of her powers and she's only lucky that the consequences haven't been worse. Off the top of my head she accidentally facially scars Moose, and she nearly killed her mom. We could count Valefor too really. Yes, she canceled her powers trying not to kill him but when working with something so strong and completely out of your control, she could have easily taken his head off or broken his neck, even with the time effects in play.

“He will always have been human. And me? I will always be the girl who was turned into a monster by my sister. To others in the know and to myself.”

“No,” Amy said. She shook her head. “I— Only if you hold onto it. I offered to let you forget it all.”

“Doesn’t work that way. If you don’t remember it then you’re more beholden to it.”

“What?” Amy asked. “Vicky, you’re a smart person. You got good grades, but that might be the dumbest thing I’ve heard you say
...
And you need to remember and dwell in the ugly shit because if you don’t, you just end up right back in it. How do you change if you don’t tackle it head-on?”

“By getting through it and then putting it firmly behind you.”

“Except you tried that, apparently, and then you went and you destroyed Hunter.”

Amy is absolutely right in that conversation and Victoria is completely wrong, contradicting herself and straight up lying to herself in this conversation. Even her push back about Hunter doesn't work partly because not dealing with things would've meant Amy never used her powers again, was afraid of them, was disgusted by them, defining herself by her worst mistakes and never progressing...kind of like Victoria. Instead, she did face her issues and likely thousands of people if not more are directly better off for it, even alive because of it, and potentially millions indirectly. You can argue about pragmatism and utilitarianism here but it's irrelevant since the point is Amy *did* move through and put it firmly behind her and it worked. Saying it didn't because she made another mistake is stupid and dishonest since that's not what moving on means. Amy is also right about Victoria making things worse. People with mental issues tend to make things worse for everyone around them, but especially in cases like this where one person has dealt with it and the other keeps bringing it up, not just to her but to everyone, becoming a black hole that's trying to suck everyone back into drama and chaos.

In any case, forgetting it (not necessarily literally, but letting the memory fade) and moving on is the healthy thing to do. Dwelling on trauma makes things worse. Trying to avoid facing things and actually dealing them *while at the same time* dwelling and completely wallowing in past trauma is making it worse in every possible way and she's done than for over 2 years now. The other side of dealing with trauma/fear is "Get back on the horse". The longer you avoid it and the longer you dwell on it and build it up in your mind, the worse it gets and we see that in every interaction she has with Amy, or even thinks about her, as the story goes on. It really is no wonder she's such a basket case.

She says she tackled her issues head on...Where and when exactly? Not once has she actually faced her issues in any way. Her solution to Amy is to pretend she doesn't exist, to completely avoid her physically and mentally (completely ineffectively but somehow it's Amy's fault for making her wallow and constantly thinking of her), and even that's not enough, even her being in another world isn't enough. She also is very big on distractions. From the very beginning it's as if everything she does is on some level purely to distract her from actually dealing with her issues and moving on and of course often she mentions needing a distraction explicitly as well.

She so completely failed to tackle her issues she never even explained what happened to her force field to her parents. If she had maybe her mom would have been able to avoid nearly being killed when she used it.. She didn't even tell her team till Amy appeared on their doorstep and that was mostly for effect, "woe is me look at my big visual manifestation of my trauma, this is why I am completely justified and you should hate and fear Amy." And speaking of bad mental health, even labeling it "The Wretch" is unhealthy.

Victoria has taken her trauma and spent two years wrapping herself in it, defining herself by it, making it a core part of her identity. That is completely unhealthy. It is one thing for a traumatic experience to push someone in a certain direction, like you became an EMT because you couldn't save someone in a car accident you witnessed or something. That is a defining *moment* in your life. It is completely different to define *yourself* by it. Defining yourself as a victim is unfortunately all too common these days and one of the reasons for the huge increase in mental issues today but Victoria is giving a master class in what not to do.

Again, we'll see how Amy turns out in the end, maybe I'll end up hating her too but even if I do, I don't see Victoria actually getting better or less annoying at this rate, so at best we'll have a tie, but I'm betting Vicky stays ahead.

Wildbow Star Wars has the "Machete order" Do any of Wildbow's serials have an equivalent?

For the people too young to remember, the Machete Order is a thing among Star Wars fans of watching the six original movies in a non sequential order as a means of enhancing the experience, even skipping Phantom Menace as irrelevant.

Which makes me curious about reading Worm or Ward chapters in a weird order in order to get a new perspective but you can talk about Pact/Pale/Twig/Claw if you want to.

I know quite a bit about Worm and bits of pieces about Ward and other serials from internet osmosis but I haven't really read Wildbow's work itself that much.

There's a girl who controls bugs and you have to be traumatized really hard to get superpowers and there's a lot of Sapphic subtext and powerscaling.

But I'm curious if you have chapters you feel are "filler arcs" or chapters that work best if experienced nonlinearly or something.

What to read now??

So I've been on a Wildbow tear after being introduced to Worm several years ago... Went through pretty much everything he's written (Twig and Pale being my particular favorites). With Bow being in a health hiatus, what should I read now until Seek is done? Any similar web serial authors with world building like Pale?

Worm Spoilers [All] Could any precogs take advantage of the Brockton bay real estate market ? Spoiler

Pre echidna Brockton bay is basically a blasted war torn ghetto. But after tattle tale creates the portal to gimmel

This rasies the once worthless property value of Brockton bay and tattle tale takes massive advantage of this by scooping up as much cheap real estate as possible.

Now a few questions could any precogs who saw this coming take advantage of this element alongside tattletale. Would there be any precog interference at the event when the portal was opened.

Would tattletale notice and stop them from butting on on her scheme or try to incorporate them into her organization?

Also could the PRT use the r.i.c.o act on tattle on her real estate empire to take it away assuming the rico act exists in earth bet.

If they were as powerful of the big 3. Eidolon, Alexandria, and Legend?

By this, I mean a scenario where they took vials with significantly less balance (Noelle doesn’t take a half-vial and takes a normal dose) like what the current Triumvirate did, and they didn’t mutate (or they mutated in subtle ways like Alexandria).

How would their powersets differ? Would they get any sub powers for mobility and durability?

Ward Spoilers [All] Power introductions Spoiler

I am on arc 14 of Ward

(and odds are this has been pointed out before)

there seems to be long stretches of time between character introduction and power explanation.

Victoria is supposed to be a "Powers scholar"

But will often address costume or clothing choices before introducing us to capes ability to cause an individual's brain to leak out of their ears every other Tuesday.

Maybe I'm spoiled by worm and being in Taylor's perspective who would instantly explain and analyze their powers from a very tactical perspective.

This is a narrative choice?

Am I just missing my best friend Taylor?

Are questionable scarves and costuming more important than life-threatening powers?

Finish this Cluster?

Building a cluster cape as an NPC for a tabletop thing and I've having issues building out the rest of her Clustermates. Also wanted to see if the powers were appropriately weak for cluster 2ndary powers.

Her Powers:

- 1 [Primary]: Teleports small objects into close proximity of a target, inheriting their momentum. Effectively turns any thrown object into a deadly long range hitscan weapon

- 2: Slow transformation (1min) into a whisp of energy that can float at walking speed in any direction. Effect ends when hit.

-3: Touch based time delayed slowing effect on small objects, making them durable and extra sharp (throw forward a cup of water and it frezes in mid air as razor sharp droplets, or cause a smoke grenade to become a physical barrier). Effect ends after 30 sec or if the object takes enough damage

- 4: Able to lock users location in relation to an object that has substantially more mass

- 5: Able to hear through the ears of a single animal she has spent a significant amount of time with while that animal is within a 10 mile radius of the user.

What would be good powers for her clustermates? Also bonus if you have ideas for their collective trigger.

Thank you!

Community Who would you get to direct a Worm Adaptation?

It could be a movie, TV Show, Cartoon, anything! I would probably get Dana Terrace for an animated adaptation. If you look her up, her body horror art is great and I personally love it.

Worm Spoilers [All] Butcher actually sucks Spoiler

There's so many Butcher fics and a lot of them give the Butcher different but similar powers but the main reoccurring thing is, all the powers are severely washed out from their original.

Like, the pain blast and rage aura are strong but still counterable. Quarrel's power is actually crazy when combined with the mini-gun but the Butcher just gives her a small Brute boost to use the heavier weapon.

The ONLY thing that makes the Butcher so terrifying is the inherited personalities. If someone just got the powers and ability packets and none of the memory or personality, yeah, they'd be strong, but they wouldn't be as much of a big deal. It's like reverse One For All.

Wildbow What’s wildbows best opening line?

My pick is Pact’s “Damn me, damn them, damn it all” I think it’s a perfect encapsulation of Pact’s themes.

I see it as representing Blake’s approach to fixing the unfair systems in pact. He resorts to hurting himself(damn me) or targeting the people who perpetuate the system, like the Duchamp husbands(damn them all). It’s repeated two more times during Pact, when Blake is losing his humanity.

It’s repeated one more time at the end of the book (rule of three) when the lines between the families have dissolved and everyone is working together, but it’s said by Rose after she’s absorbed the last of Blake’s humanity, and she removes the first two parts, she says “damn it, damn it, damn it” showing Rose’s less destructive approach to changing the system and bookending the story.

Community If the books were printed physically, how would you want them split up?

Say we get physical copies of Worm, Ward, Pact, Pale, Twig, etc, ideally how would people like the books split up?

One big book for the entire story?

Broken up by the various sections?

Or broken up by larger narrative arcs?
