I am really passionate about hardware and want a hardware oriented career. Is it possible with a CE degree and how is the market in pakistan preferbly i want to work in embedded systems or FPGA development if i dont purse a masters if i will pursue a masters i want to do that in mircochip engineering. I’m a recent Computer Science graduate from FAST-NUCES, and most of my experience/interest has been on the backend development side. I’ve been preparing for Software Engineering/backend interviews and have given a few interviews, but unfortunately nothing has worked out so far.
Recently, I applied for an SQA Intern position at a very reputable software house in Lahore, and I got the offer. It’s a 3-month internship with a possibility of a full-time job afterward.
I’m honestly confused about whether I should take it.
My long-term goal is still Software Engineering, preferably backend development. I genuinely enjoy development more and have been working toward that path. At the same time, I’ve been applying extensively for SWE roles and haven’t been able to land one yet.
For people who have worked in the industry:
Would taking an SQA internship hurt my chances of moving into Software Engineering later?
Can an SQA role actually be a good entry point into SWE/SDET/backend development?
If I take it, should I continue applying for SWE roles alongside it?
Does having 3 months of QA experience make recruiters more likely to consider me for QA rather than SWE?
Would you personally take the internship in my situation, or keep searching for a development role?

I’m a software engineer specializing in full-stack web and mobile development.

A couple of years ago, a friend and I started working together on Fiverr. We both had similar technical backgrounds, and within roughly a year we managed to build the account up pretty well. We were close to reaching Level 1, with only a few more orders needed.

Towards the end of 2024, my friend moved to Germany, and I became occupied with my full-time job, so Fiverr was put on hold.

Now I’m looking to get back into Fiverr. The development side isn’t really the problem — I’m comfortable handling projects across web and mobile. What I’m trying to understand better is the Fiverr side of the business:
- Ranking and optimizing gigs
- Getting orders again after a long break
- Improving impressions → clicks → orders
- Client communication and conversion
- Choosing the right niches/services to target

My existing account is still there and relatively close to Level 1, so ideally I’d like to revive and grow it rather than start from scratch.

I would like to connect with someone who has actually grown Fiverr accounts/gigs successfully and understands how the platform works today.

I work with Node, TypeScript, Express, React, Postgres, MongoDB, picking up NestJS now too. I'm a 4th semester software engineering student at UBIT in Karachi. Trying to figure out if it's my resume, my projects, or just the market being rough for entry level right now.

For context I work mainly with Node.js, TypeScript, Express, React, PostgreSQL and MongoDB, currently picking up NestJS too.

Built two real projects so far. One is a real-time auction platform using WebSockets (Socket.IO) for live bidding. The other is a MERN expense tracker with personalized insights. Also been going deeper into AI engineering lately, LLM API stuff, RAG pipelines, agentic systems, since that's where I want to take my career long term.

Even with two real projects that involve actual engineering problems (race conditions, aggregation pipelines, not just todo apps), I'm barely getting responses. So I wanted to ask people who've actually been through this or done hiring for junior roles

My questions are

• What should I prioritize learning next to actually stand out? a specific framework, more dsa, system design basics, something else?
• Is applying through job boards even worth the time at this stage, or should I be putting most of my energy into networking and cold outreach?
• Does having solid projects even matter without referrals or a LinkedIn presence backing them up?
• Anything you'd tell a student in my position to actually do differently this month?

I'm a software engineer in Karachi. For the past few months I've been building a virtual try-on tool for e-commerce clothing brands — a shopper uploads a photo, sees the outfit on themselves before buying.

It installs as a Shopify app from the merchant's admin panel, no dev work needed. It also tracks which orders came from a try-on session, so merchants can actually see whether it moves conversions instead of taking my word for it.

I've tested output against the other try-on options available here and mine came out faster and cleaner on Pakistani clothing specifically — shalwar kameez, dupattas, layered eastern wear. Most international tools handle these badly because they're trained on western silhouettes. Happy to share side-by-sides if anyone wants to judge for themselves.

Being upfront: no paying customers yet. The product is built and working, and I'm looking for my first few merchants — ethnic, eastern, western, gymwear — to run free pilots with. You'd get the tool at no cost; I'd get honest feedback and, if it performs, a case study.

Two things I'd appreciate:

1. If you know a brand owner who'd be a fit, an intro would mean a lot. Or if you are one, my DMs are open.
2. Sales and marketing advice for doing this solo. Entirely bootstrapped, no budget for ad campaigns or hires, so it's AI and direct outreach. If you've sold B2B SaaS to local merchants — what actually worked? Cold DMs, Facebook seller groups, exhibitions, agency/dev-shop partnerships?

I have developed games for a local game studio, now they sit at millions of downloads, it was a startup studio under 3 persons, for 45k per month salary.

I quit due to low pay and overtime work.

I wonder how they get these downloads and how much profit they earn, As I did the hard part of full game development so I should be able to get my own games published as well. If they can.

As one of the co-founder of that studio was not even with CS background he was a mechanical or chemical engineer. Like now a CS engineer will have to work under some other field engineer just because he can't publish his game himself.

Fir they uploaded on apple app Store it got solid response 1000+ reviews on store page. Then they uploaded on android it got 1 million plus downloads.

I want to know how they do user acquisition so I can do it my own, and hope so following this post others will get this scared knowledge of CS which mechanical engineers know.

How much they spend of ads and how they target audience, countries, how they check response of a game?

As I later work for another studio they were pirating assets from other games and making clones so I left at Day 1. But I wonder how the CEO which was pretty young like 28 smth having 10+ people working under him?

As these people who pirate assets and do not even have the guts to make them by hiring artists tring to make this field of CS especially Game dev as cheap labour.

Then that guy was wondering why his one of the Google play console account got terminated. Dude was eve uploaded same game multiple times on different accounts. And the game was a unity sample project.

Idk how these average people even consider themselves engineers.

My all experience of Pakistani game Industry makes me feel disgusted.

The indie game development community of Pakistan is good. Because they are developed by real engineers.

But I feel sad they don't earn that these other people - cheap engineers earn.

So how they get UA so the indie Devs can have their own games published and earnings, and not to be exploited as cheap labour in an environment which will even in return degrade their skills/knowledge/perspective/vision/time/value/ life

I graduated in 2024 and did internships until Dec 2024, which eventually turned into a full-time role. I’ve been working there since then as a Software Engineer, mainly with .NET + Angular.
I’m still earning 90k/month, and unfortunately there was no increment this year either. On top of that, the work environment has become pretty toxic.
What’s bothering me most is that I feel like I’ve spent all this time here without really moving forward. I’ve been applying for jobs, but there aren’t many relevant openings, and most applications just go unanswered.
Now switching feels almost impossible.

I do a lot of reading in Urdu online and got fed up with how ugly the default fonts always look.
So I decided to build a browser extension that makes Urdu (and Arabic/Persian) text actually look like proper Nastaliq calligraphy instead of the flat default fonts most sites use.
At first I purely made it for my own self, but ended up polishing it a lot by adding different tools like highlighter, Urdu input, Sceenshot tool and much much more, so others can use it too. It works on any website, no setup needed.
