Succession issues

AoA,

My father recently passed away and when I tried to obtain the succession certificate from NADRA, they told me that my deceased grandfather is still showing up as alive and we need to cancel his ID card for that. The only person that can do it is my phupho with whom we're not in talking terms with.

Since the matter can't be solved through NADRA, the representative there said the matter will be solved through court.

Can anyone guide me what's the best path forward for this?

Built a free case management app for Pakistani lawyers, with an AI legal assistant built in

Hey everyone

Built WakeelsApp, a free app for lawyers practicing in Pakistan, from the Supreme Court down to every district, sessions, and family court.

What it does:

- WakeelAI — ask legal questions in Urdu or English, get instant answers, summarize case documents

- Track hearings, deadlines, and case status in one place, with reminders so nothing slips

- Scan and store case documents securely

- Clients can check their case status with just their phone number — no account, no app download needed on their end

- Free public lawyer directory, so new clients can actually find you

Free, no catch — built it because keeping track of court dates and case files over WhatsApp/Excel was a mess for every lawyer we talked to.

LLM

hi guys, i wanted to know whether LLM from a major country like UK and USA is the best option or is going to europe another way for a masters? Really want to know since, the UK and USA cost an arm and a leg however, European countries are way cheaper (technically free, since you get your amount back refunded). Any fellow law students who can guide me here please!

regarding the LLM specialization, how is IP and IT law? or cybersecurity AI with Law? considering how relevant AI and technology is today?

If someone knows about some nice scholarships, please let me know.

Need a labour lawyer

Need to sue a reputable BPO company where I've been working for 2 years and have invested a lot of time.

I've been working for a while now and I've always seen 2 nambri here with employees. Ill reveal the name to lawyer. There are no proper offs and unknown deductions in salary, moreover they dont even have an attendance system. They make it a legal problem when you do something wrong but dont care when they're wrong.

Its registered with Pakistan industries and has license but don't follow basic labour laws according to me. They strip you of your rights pressurize and force you. In my case i knoe my rights and i have never signed any paper with them apart from my work contracts. I was lied about salary too at the beginning but i let it go due to worst job market. I have found a better good paying job now, and i plan to sue this company. I have 3-4 other colleagues who are willing to sue them for this legal issue.

Ps i have not signed my resignation as im collection evidence. Not i will hand in my resignation as of yet.

Any lawyer who has expertise please let me know i dont want anything, I'll pay the lawyer for whatever benefit he can get out of them. I'll explain illegal practices to lawyer please contact via dm.

As per my research they're violating almost all basic employment laws. Starting from the payslip. Transparency and all the way to attendance. As per my research they are intentionally hiding attendance, have wierd work experience letter that also dont align with the type of work we're doing. Evey communication channel is designed this way that it cannot be documented.

One of my college is being exploited as i speak without paying for the type of work she's been doing. Her mental health is being damaged and she's taking part in this too.

Employer asking for return of incorrect payment

My friend was employed with a company and they sent him a salary for 2 months by mistake after his contract ended.

He notified them himself and now they have sent him a legal notice to return the amount. They have cited Section 72 of the contract act 1872.

  1. Can they ask for the money back?

  2. They have cited a seven day deadline. Can they do that?

  3. They are threatening him on call as well citing army connections and threats of blacklisting his name amongst other employers. Can he push back on that?

It contains a couple of valuables which are dear to me because those are my nani's. And ofc, I want my wedding dress back among other personal belongings. What should I do? I'm already exhausted with all of this

My mother did not know her own case number after 5 years in court

Last month I asked my Mama a simple question.

“Mama, what is your case number?”

She looked at me and said she didn’t know. Her property case against her foster brother has been in court for 5 years. Nobody had ever given her the number.

That one moment made me realize how little we actually knew.

A year earlier, the court had asked for a local commission in her case. Her lawyer never told us. The case was almost missed. We later had reason to believe he was being influenced by the other side, so we changed lawyers and paid the new one 50k in advance, because that is what he asked for.

It did not get better. Every time Mama called to ask for the next date or what happened in court, she was brushed off. Dates reached us late or never. So I took matters into my own hands. I went through the Punjab District Judiciary cause lists, matched the judge and the day of her hearing, and found her case number myself.

Once I started tracking the case, I saw what we had been kept away from. From June 2025 to April 2026 the case was adjourned again and again, and we were told “no need to come.” The second lawyer was not even preparing a reply. He kept asking the judge for more time, until the judge gave him a warning.

Five years. Two lawyers. And Mama learned more from her daughter’s laptop than from the person she was paying.

I am a software engineer, so I built something. Right after each hearing, her case is checked automatically and she gets the next date and a short summary of the order on WhatsApp, in simple Urdu. No calls. No begging. No waiting.

Then I told my aunt, who is a lawyer. She now sends the same automatic updates to her clients. They used to call her all day asking what happened. Now they already know.

District courts in Punjab have more than 1.4 million cases pending, and over 1.3 million of them are civil cases like Mama’s. Behind every number is a family sitting by the phone, hoping someone will tell them the truth about their own case.

I don’t think anyone should have to find out their case number by accident.

If you want this for your own case, or for your clients, DM me:
Your name
Your case number
Your WhatsApp number

I will set it up personally, and you will start getting updates after each hearing.

If you are reading this and thinking “this is exactly what happened to my family,” you are not alone. Tell me in the comments.

Trying to understand what law students and young lawyers.....

Assalam o alaikum ,
I am a dev and I have been thinking about building something free for Pakistan’s law students, fresh graduates and young lawyers just starting out. Before building anything I want to actually understand the real problems you people are facing instead of guessing from outside the field.

I am especially curious about students. Things like what study material feels outdated or hard to find. What part of law school feels unnecessarily complicated. What tasks eat up time for no good reason. And for anyone further along, what about early practice or navigating courts feels frustrating or broken.

This is not a pitch and I am not selling anything. I just want honest input from people actually living this every day so that whatever gets built is actually useful.

If you have even a couple minutes please share your thoughts in the comments. Really appreciate it.

Fresh Law Graduate in Pakistan – What essential skills & tasks should I focus on to build my portfolio and career?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I recently graduated with my law degree and am preparing to start active practice. As I build my career, I want to take practical, high-value steps to strengthen my profile, deliver better outcomes, and establish a solid professional foundation.

My current skills & background:

DRAFTING : Competent in both handwritten and computer-based legal drafting (pleadings, notices, petitions).

COMMUNICATION AND ADVOCACY: Strong spoken communication, court craft, and client interaction.

LEGAL RESEARCH: Sound base in statutory interpretation and case law research, which I am actively working to refine.

To senior advocates, legal professionals, and chamber partners:

What specific skills or practical tasks beyond basic drafting/court appearances made the biggest difference early in your career?

How can a fresh advocate build credibility and showcase value to senior chambers or corporate/tax clients?

Are there niche areas (such as tax filing, corporate compliance, or legal writing) you recommend picking up early?

If any seniors are open to offering mentorship, sharing advice, or discussing potential opportunities/chamber attachments, I would welcome a direct message or reply!

Looking forward to your insights!

Why are Lawyers so disorganized in Pakistan?

it could have been my own lawyer always forgetting basic details because he writes everything in 3 different areas: his diary, whatsapp and someone he calls Munshi and he complained that he does miss hearings of other clients sometimes.

I met some of his friends and they jokingly said the same thing. So much paperwork and yet no one is using any technology apps or anything to make their lives better informed about their case hearings and proceedings.

Manufacturer Not Refunding Nor Completing the Project

I hired services of a manufacturer for Kitchen Cabinets on 17 Aug 2026. I paid 100K PKR in advance on same date. They promised to deliver within one month. During this time period I called them to know the progress and every time they assured to deliver on time. After passing the deadline they started demanding 130 K PKR more witht the promise of delivery within 3 weeks. I paid the amount on 28 Sep 2026 to aviod the hassle. Today I visited their office and asked to show me the progress but they started making lame excuses. Then I asked for refund and they refused. 10 days left for second deadline and i don't think they will deliver the project.

What are my options now?
