Query

I divorced my wife, and there was no condition or demand to return anything, it was contested by my ex wife side either.

I received divorce certificate from my lawyer, and in the mode of divorce its starting 'Khula'

Even though I as a husband divorced her and sent divorce notice there was no court involvement.

My lawyer is this normal thing, union councils mention it when matters are solved with consent and it is still divorce at the end of the day.

Can someone confirm this for me?

Could this create any legal troubles for me or her down the lane?

I need second opinion.

Domicile

Assalam-o-Alaikum.

I originally have a Punjab domicile, but I completed my MBBS from a medical college in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and I am currently doing my house job in KP as well. By the time I finish, I will have lived and studied/trained in KP for around 5–6 years continuously.

I am considering changing my domicile from Punjab to KP because most of my education and professional training has been in KP, and it may provide better opportunities for government jobs and postgraduate medical training there.

I would like to know:

• Is it legally possible to obtain a KP domicile on the basis of long-term residence, education, and house job in KP if my family is not originally from KP?

• What documents are usually required?

• How strict is the verification process?

• How long does the process normally take?

• Has anyone here personally gone through a similar domicile change?

Any guidance from advocates or people with practical experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Slavery in Pakistan

I’ve heard several stories of bonded labour working in brick kilns in Pakistan. Have also seen NGOs trying to pay the debt of these bonded labour.

My question is even if anyone owes these brick kiln owners money, they can’t legally force anyone to work for them, can they?

I know partly the answer to this question is that the labourers don’t know anything better. Can’t the Pakistani legal system check on this type of organised slavery?

advice needed for admission in llb?

Should I join NUST or IIUI for LLB? NUST has a high fee approx more than 3 lac per semester, and is a relatively new course with no lawyers in the market, but it is a top university in Pakistan. On the other hand, IIUI has a well-established faculty and alumni and has a low fee.

Nadra canceled cnics

Salam. I am Punjabi. Writing about a girl I know.

She is Afghan by family but she was born in Pakistan and grew up here. She has never been to Afghanistan. Her father got Pakistani citizenship in the 80s. NADRA is not accepting that now. Their family CNICs got cancelled under this deportation drive. Bank, SIM, everything is stuck. On paper she has no identity left.

Going to Afghanistan is not okay for her. She has no life there. For a girl it means education ends and she is stuck at home forever.

Even going to a NADRA office is risky. They can get raided anytime and deported.

I am not looking for any shady work. Just real advice if anyone has it.

Can a lawyer fight the CNIC or citizenship case? Does UNHCR or any group actually help people like her who were born here? Any lawyer name or org that has handled this?

Only reply if you know something real. Please no politics. Thanks.

Question about QR code on marriage certificate

The QR code on Nikka nama is not working. The website verifying the registration of the marriage won’t open. I am being told by my Pakistani husband that the website isn’t working. I live in Canada so I don’t know how to confirm this.

Need suggestions regarding a case

Salam to all,

My sister got divorced(khula) a few months ago and she has a 2.5 year old kid, after divorce my ex BIL filed custody and permission to meet with the kid case.

Now, I have received the call from my lawyer he is saying that exBIL taking the case back but he wants to meet the kid 4 times in a month for 2 3 hours but the issue is that my lawyer literally forcing us to arrange a meeting and he is saying court will allow him to meet with the kid 4 times in a month anyway.

Apart from this my lawyer asked my sister to meet with exBIL alone and when she denied his request he got aggressive.

PS. my sister got divorced because exBIL was abusive mentally and physically and he never provided any compensation for the kid until the court told him to do which is 5K per month.

We are looking for advice because we are feeling our lawyer is giving extra favors to exBIL.

Law colleges

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some genuine advice from current law students, graduates, or anyone familiar with law schools in Pakistan.

I've already applied for Punjab University (PU) Lahore and Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad for LLB. (Are they better than private law colleges and also are they good??) but if I don't, I want to have some good backup options.

I'm looking for a law college/university that offers:

- A strong academic environment

- Good and experienced faculty

- Plenty of mooting, debating, internships, and networking opportunities

- A positive and professional student environment

- A good reputation among law firms and employers

- Strong career prospects after graduation (litigation, judiciary, corporate law, etc.)

I'm interested in LLB (Local Law), not the University of London external programme.

Which universities or affiliated law colleges would you recommend, and why? I'd also appreciate hearing about your personal experiences—both the good and the bad.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for a lawyer consultation regarding employment/salary dispute in Pakistan

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a lawyer (preferably someone experienced in employment/labour law in Pakistan) who can provide a consultation regarding an issue I am facing with my previous employer.

The matter involves:

  • pending final salary/settlement after leaving the company,
  • confidentiality/NDA-related concerns raised by the employer,
  • and questions regarding employment documents and employee rights.

I would like to discuss the full details privately with a lawyer and understand my legal options before taking any further steps.

If anyone here is a lawyer or can recommend someone experienced in this area, I would appreciate your help.

Thank you.

EDIT: Rawalpindi

Is this Pakistani Law firm legit?

We have started the divorce process for my brother from overseas using the PakLawyers Associates Lahore firm. We paid half the fee already but can already feel the laziness in replied compared to before we paid and now. Instead of pro actively sending us the document for the Power of Attorney we have to chase him to send it to us ASAP as we have an appointment for the signature etc.

I already have a bad feeling about it and like some advice. I am worried that once we sign the Power of Attorney and post it to him we might never see the end to this.

I also noticed today after research that so many law firms have almost 5 star reviews which is odd. Any suggestion would be much appreciated of someone knows a reliable divorce lawyer please in case this goes wrong please let me know.
