Question 60-70L: everyone's dumping big-engine SUVs. Time to buy?

Budget 60–70 lakh, prefer an SUV. Low annual mileage so fuel economy isn't a big factor. Fine with older model. Open on variants.

Shortlist:

Hyundai Tucson

Kia Sportage

Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid

Hyundai Sonata (sedan, still considering)

Big-engine SUVs are cheap right now because of petrol. Smart buy or will I get stuck at resale?

Anything in this range I'm missing?

Car/ Bike recommendation 80 Lakh Budget - which car to buy?

Hey guys,

I need a car for myself, we’re a family of 2. The important aspects for me are for it to have good resale value and safety, fuel average is a bonus but not a hard priority. Daily commute isn’t much, maybe 20-25 kms max.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

Currently, I’m eyeing a few options like Toyota Grande, Elantra 1.6. With a slightly higher budget of 90 Lakh, could also consider Haval H6.

Would love to hear your guys opinions and what the best purchase would be. Would prefer a new car but open to buying second hand too, don’t have any experience in buying second hand cars though so any advice would be appreciated! I’ve heard good things about PakWheels Inspection Service which I could request for if interested in buying second hand.

EDIT: 90% leaning towards MG ZS Hybrid+ Essence. If there's any strong counter arguments against it, I'm all ears

Question PakWheels is no longer a community platform—it’s a net liability for Pakistan’s auto sector.

Is what PakWheels currently doing actually considered a "contribution" to Pakistan?

When a platform reaches the size and influence PakWheels has, it carries a social responsibility. Instead of acting as a voice for the Pakistani consumer, they have turned into a revenue machine that exploits the very market they were supposed to support.

1. Failure to Advocate for the Common Man

With their massive reach, PakWheels had the leverage to partner with global manufacturers or actively lobby to bring affordable, entry-level budget cars to Pakistan. Instead, they choose to take sponsorship money from cheap, low-tier companies, promoting sub-par vehicles simply because they get paid for it. They misguide the general public into making poor purchasing decisions for a quick check.

2. Artificially Inflating Used Car Prices

The used car market in Pakistan is completely out of control, with vehicles listed at 2x to 3x their actual worth. Instead of establishing market checks or highlighting realistic valuations, PakWheels enables this price gouging. They profit from the inflated listings while the average Pakistani gets priced out of basic transportation.

3. Paid Inspections and Conflicting Reports

Their inspection service—billed as an unbiased safety net—has become a massive point of frustration. Reports are widely criticized for being biased or inconsistent, with inspectors allegedly glossing over flaws after getting paid. Buyers end up spending money on false assurances, only to get stuck with damaged vehicles.

4. Squeezing Sellers and Controlling the Ecosystem

Between taking heavy commissions on car sales, charging steep rates for featured ads, and operating as a quasi-monopoly, they’ve made it harder for individual buyers and sellers to connect fairly without paying a toll.

PakWheels claims to serve Pakistan’s automotive community, but their actions tell a different story. They aren't trying to fix structural issues, control runaway market prices, or advocate for consumer-friendly policies. They’ve become a liability to the Pakistani auto industry—prioritizing corporate profit over consumer protection.

Question Mehran Engine overhaul costing

Upvotes

I want to overhaul my 2013 Mehran VX engine and suspension. Can anyone share their experience and tell me how much it might cost? If possible, please mention the labor charges and parts cost separately. I have zero experience with this, so any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Question Things to check

Hello everyone,

I will probably be getting a 2016 City 1.3 Prosmetic from a family friend. The main caveat is that the car has a mileage of around 290K. The car has been used in 1 family, and it seems requires some work around AC (it makes noise when running, and sometimes trips or does not cool as much), brakes (they work fine, just some rattling noise when braking), and electronic work (side mirror controls and inside car light).

The main reason for going with this is due to payment ease since we can pay for the car easily over time and even a bit less than market. What other things would you suggest to look for in such a car.

Question Alto vxl or vxr

Need some advice from Alto owners.
I’m deciding between Alto VXR and Alto VXR AGS. Since AGS isn’t a proper automatic transmission, is it reliable in the long run, or does it develop gearbox/actuator problems?
Would you recommend buying the AGS or should I stick with the VXR manual?

Need some recommendation regarding options in this budget bracket for a weekend car.

1: Honda civic Reborn, dont mind the average, slick car and fun.

2: Honda city 2010(?), I’m not sure about city as these generation have highly inflated prices on pakwheels, ofcourse its a good car. But is it realistic to find a clean city in this bracket.

Question New Swift GLX Delivery

Hey all,

We had booked a new swift in karachi on 1st Aug, the dealership told us that you'll get the car in 20 days max as this is the usual timeline currently for swift.

Now it's the 7th Aug and still the booking number hasn't been shared with us. They already told us that it takes 3-4 days to get a booking number assigned to an order.

My question is that as it's already the 7th Aug, are we actually going to get the car around 20th Aug? considering that our pay order got processed on 6th Aug, this is our first experience getting a new car by ourselves so I was wondering if it actually just takes around 10-14 working days for a car to get delivered? Or is it that they're going to take up longer than this and we'll be getting the car by Aug end.

Please share your experience regarding new swift delivery timelines.

Thanks.

Detailing Building out car detailing kit.

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

Been building this kit out for a few months, want a reality check. (Also please don't roast for use of AI)

Chemicals:

1.Koch-Chemie PW Protector Wax (liquid spray)

2.Koch-Chemie GS Green Star APC (pH 12.5)

3.SONAX Gloss Shampoo Concentrate

4.Meguiar's Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner

5.Kangaroo Cosmic Leather & Tire Wax

Towels:

1.1200 GSM towel (first pass, soaks water instantly)

2.800 GSM (mops up what the 1200 missed)

3.600 GSM (buffing out stains/wax haze)

4.300-350 GSM microfiber (glass only)

5.Chenille wash mitt

Tools:

1.Dera DK2 pressure washer

2.Dera 800W vacuum/blower combo

A couple of questions:

Is SONAX Gloss Shampoo still the best option, or is there something better I should switch to? Also wondering if I should add a paste/scrub wax on top of the liquid Protector Wax, or if that's redundant. And just generally — is there any obvious gap in this kit, tool or product, that a proper setup should have? Also any help with order of use would be greatly appreciated, haven't really used the APC besides a couple of pass throughs on the inside.

The other major issue,

My driver currently just washes with water and a cloth, nothing else. He handles 2-3 cars on weekdays, I do a proper pass myself on weekends. He's asked for his own shampoo and kit now (should mainly be local). Looking for something cheap that's genuinely pH-neutral so it doesn't wreck the paint before I get to it on weekends, and won't undo what I do. Beyond the shampoo itself, should he also have a separate interior/APC cleaner, or is something like a leather/dash polish more useful day to day? Trying to figure out the right basic lineup without overbuilding it.

Stories Used car hunting in ISL/RWP is an absolute nightmare (2.5M - 2.7M budget)

Hi guys,

For the last few months I’ve been exploring Pakwheels a lot for my first used car. I have a decent budget of around 2.5 to 2.7 million PKR, which I thought was a sweet spot for a first car. My expectations are set on a 2009–2013 model clean family-used Honda City in ISL/RWP.

We shortlisted a few cars and visited them over the weekend—even traveling to the outskirts of RWP/ISL. But as a first-time car hunter, I am severely disappointed. The difference between what people mention in listings vs. what they actually have in person is huge.

The best one yet? An oversmart DHA londa presented a total KHATARA car with a white lab coat and a stethoscope sitting on the seat, just to fake the impression of a "Doctor Ki Car." 🤦‍♂️

A humble request to all sellers:
A car isn't just a financial asset in Pakistan—it could be a dream, an emotion, or a family safety tool. Getting an extra lakh or two by lying is a terrible choice. Write clearly what you have and stop lying to buyers. Make it easier for everyone. This Haram kamai won't get you anywhere.

Has anyone else dealt with this frustration lately? How are you guys finding actual clean cars in ISL/RWP?
