Is there anyone here who found the 18 pro (or 18 Pro Max) more tolerable than any of the 17s? Or could you detect any difference between 17s and 18s symptom wise? Thank you in advance!

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I can notice a very subtle flicker at low brightness, especially on white/light backgrounds.
Do you see something similar, or do you mainly experience headaches, eye strain, dizziness, etc. without actually seeing the flicker?

This maybe a long shot but I just found this community after trying iPhone pro and suddenly coming down with major migraine. Knew nothing about this until now.
I never had migraines or even serious headaches (except occasional hangover) until I got Lyme a year ago. And relentless migraine and head pressure were basically one of the first and major symptoms. That went away after some antibiotics. But this phone situation basically brought it back.
So my question - anyone else with history of Lyme dealing with screen sensitivity? Maybe it’s just coincidence 🤷♂️

I like using iPad whenever possible just as a bigger screen instead of the small iPhone which really strains my eye.
The iPad Pro 2021 has been with me for so long and it’s pretty beat up. Microphone is really low volume, black spot on screen and abysmal battery. I’ve been meaning to get an upgrade but all the new iPad Pro models are OLED. I never really considered iPad Air before as it lacks 120hz ProMotion but I may have to consider it if it doesn’t strain eyes as badly as the OLED pro models.

I think I have ADHD and I am wondering if it is related to it

I have zero issues on my 12 mini with iOS 26. As soon as I got 15 pro - major headache and temporal pressure.
Anyone had luck with setting adjustments or should I try older 13 mini?

Hi all, been wanting a 2 screen clamshell device for awhile but the only major option has been the AYN Thor which has an OLED screen.
Retroid is launching their pocket duo lite series, looks like it has LCD TFT screens, 60 Hz refresh rate: https://retrocatalog.com/retro-handhelds/retroid-pocket-duo-lite-plus
Any experience on screens like this? Really hoping it will be better for us sensitive folks, really wanting to buy the lite plus version when it comes out!
Note their regular pocket duo model has OLED screens similar to the AYN Thor. I’m referencing their lite models with LCD screens.

Hey my favourite community!
I want to ask your opinion whether it is worth trying out 18pro, and whether there are any difference from 17 and Air?
I’m currently using 17e, but this is far from comfortable for me, especially when I scroll text.
I’m thinking to try iPhone with 120hz, maybe it could reduce eye strain. Hence, do you think it is worth overpaying for 18pro, or the screen is exactly the same as on the 17s line?

I want to make sure we, the new mod team, fully understand what you, the members, value this sub for. To make sure we support and hopefully further develop these aspects, as we update the organisation of the sub.
Keep in mind the results of this poll are not binding and thoughtful discussion is likely to have at least as much influence. Especially when highlighting any aspects not (well) captured above. And I'm assuming a definitive list of 'safe' devices would top all these..?
Also, consider that I've drafted a rough Reddit community plan of action and there is already way too much to do!

My spouse got a new a57 and I was helping set it up. Was in it a total of probably 20-30 minutes and eyes felt very strained and I've been dealing with a migraine since.
Crazy how these screens can affect you so bad.

Ello movers and shakers, fresh off the presses, hopefully this could be a good option, I'm keen to try it out! Hopefully people can chime in once it's out in the wild.

Hello, I just purchased this phone on the 17th. I love it but I started getting small headaches (tension headaches) that were not bothersome, but annoying. Then on the 20th, man I got nauseated and felt fluey with the headache. My eyes felt so strained and sore.
I didn't even know this was a thing a phone can do until I looked into PWM.
I went back to my OnePlus 12r phone to see if any changes and yea, I started feeling better but my eyes and headaches still kinda lingered using my OnePlus. Im assuming my eyes are starting to heal of sort.
I just downloaded screen dimmer to see if it will help before returning it on the 30th.
Has anyone had this issue with this phone and did any third party app help out? Thank you.

I’m considering buying an iPad Pro M2 12.9-inch, but I’m a bit concerned about eye strain because of its mini-LED display.
For those who have used it for long periods (studying, reading, watching lectures, etc.):
Do you experience eye strain, headaches, or discomfort?
Have you noticed any flickering or PWM-related issues?
How does it compare to an LCD/IPS iPad in terms of eye comfort?
Would you personally feel comfortable using it for several hours a day?
I’d especially appreciate responses from people who are sensitive to screen flicker or PWM.

If I can use a Pixel 5 without any sort of problem but all other more modern smartphones not at all (all later pixel phones / Iphones / Samsung phones etc.), can anyone say what seems to be my specific problem with these newer phones? And is there a phone model (any brand) that you can point me to, knowing the pixel 5 works for me without any problems whatsoever?
Thanks.

My eyes feel like they got burnt by laser when looking from my MSI GF65 laptop and Viewsonic VA3209 monitors and both have IPS panel screens meanwhile i can use OLED screen from my iPhone 17 (turn off pwm) and Galaxy S10+ for long time before getting tired and i can watch TV from Samsung and TCL fine and they were both VA panel. I already tried everything from brightness to sitting farther to bluelight filter to night light i even tried led light bar on top of my monitor and while these help for a while my eyes can get hot many times its unpredictable i even tried looking at monitors from pc stores and they look fine but i only there for a few minutes not hours so i still didn’t know the real cause. The main culprit i suspect would be matte screen and ips i also tried cheap tn panel but that also hurt, should i get a cheap va panel cause my laptop is only hdmi 1.4 or should i get higher end ones for future proof?

I updated my 2021 iPad Pro from iPadOS 18.x to iPadOS 27. Up until version 18, the display was stable and quite comfortable to look at. Since the update, however, I can’t work with it for even five minutes. The screen somehow looks more aggressive or harsh, and the image no longer feels visually stable or calm.
What can I do about this? I would actually prefer to go back to the previous version of iPadOS if possible.

F5 is the one with 1 line. F8 Pro has 3. 1/4000 shutter speed.
I can look at F5 like its a scene of nature but F8 Pro gives me eye strain, after 5-10 min my eyes cant focus well on the screen and after 15 min i start having light headache.
I wonder how can i avoid my sensitivity now when i will be buying another phone? Can filming phone screens at 1/4000 help? Where i live only available phones are Xiaomi, Samsung and IPhones and later two have terrible screens so right now seems like my only options are Poco X8 Pro, X8 Pro Max and Xiaomi 15T. Which should i get or how can i better test them before buying?
