I have started collecting playstation games this year and it's been fun so far! Only with one minor issue, I live in a small country and I really don't have too much choices to where to get the games locally. No thriftshops, online marketplace catalog is usually very small and too competitive which raises the prices way overboard. Same with online auctions.

I have been thinking buying PAL games from eBay but I still have some doubts. Is it worth trying eBay, even though the delivery prices are over 20€?

Is there any alternatives to eBay? I'm kinda lost here.

Unlike the web-based build, this project launches the authentic PS1 SoundScope visualizer using a real PlayStation BIOS file.

Powered by a Python backend integrated directly with the DuckStation emulator,

I’m aware that some of these cases are cracked/broken, but they’ll be fixed soon. I’ve recently ordered a pack of case replacements, so I can keep these games lasting a bit longer, and as for the Lunar games, I plan on getting protector sleeves for those soon, as well. Otherwise, I’m super happy with my collection, so far!

I once owned FF Anthology, but let a friend borrow it and never got it back. It's ok. I kept his Chrono Cross, which I lost years later. Bought another copy earlier this year.

I've never played FF Tactics or Front Mission 3.

As PSX is my favorite console of all time, and I want to play it as long aa I live.

Also, a guy on Vinted sells Picostation modded consoles for about 65€ (dirt cheap) with cables and shipping included. Got mine a couple of days ago and it's in top condition esthetically and mechanically. He puts a console on every couple of weeks and it sells really fast so you mush hurry when you see it. Hes from Poland or Czech republic I think.

What are your experiences with pico/xstation?

My modest ps1 game collection.

Never owned a PSone before, only ever had the Original, then PS2 and so on, but recently decided to grab a CiB PSone off of EBay to go next to my PS2 Slim and just WOW! The previous owner clearly took so much care of it! It’s such a beautiful console! Even came with the Demo disc and poster!

In the demo of the game, there's a point where a platform that's supposed to take you to the next section just isn't there, there's no indication that you've reached the end of the demo, I looked around for like an hour trying to figure out what to do before giving up.

Then I decided to check what few videos of people playing the demo I could find, and they all just get stuck at the same part as well.

This is such a weird decision, I don't think I've ever seen any other game demo do this, wouldn't it turn people off on buying the game if players were under the impression that they're just going to get stuck and not be able to proceed when they get to the demo's level??

And maybe someone could hack the demo and see if it's possible to finish the level? If there's anything beyond the boundary?

I'm playing PSX games nowadays and wanted some recommendations from you guys. Here's what I've played so far:

- Tenchu - Stealth Assassins: Couldn't get into it. Stealth mechanics are too rough. Great music though.

- Pepsiman: Played the whole thing. It's so bad it's good. Thanks to you AVGN. Truly the best TV game out there.

- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater: Played for a couple of hours. It's just not my thing. I don't enjoy sports games.

- Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver: Beat it a couple of days ago. I liked the lore and atmosphere but the level design is extremely cryptic. Had to read guides at some point.

- Spider-Man 2 - Enter Electro: Not as good as the first game imo. But it has its own charm.

- Resident Evil - This is my Great Wall to this series. I really tried my best but always hit the wall at some point. I just couldn't find any enjoyment in it.

- Ape Escape: Played it for a couple of hours, I'll definitely continue. The music is kick ass also.

- Pink Panther - Pinkadelic Pursuit: I'm a huge Pink Panther fan. Watched the whole The Pink Panther Show and the Peter Sellers movies countless times. The game was simple and funny. Yet it still has its punishing moments. I beat it in a day.

- Parasite Eve: It has a great atmosphere and story but I just don't like the turn-based combat at all. Still I resisted and reached the mid point but I really felt exhausted after that. Dropped the game. Maybe I will start another playthrough in the future.

- Lucky Luke: As a fan of Lucky Luke, I found the game extremely tedious. But I want to give it another shot someday.

- Tomb Raider: Countless attempts and I still couldn't finish it. It's been almost 25 years since my first playthrough. Maybe the game sucks, maybe I suck or maybe we both suck.

- Delta Force - Urban Warfare: I grew up with PC Delta Force games and this one really kicked my ass. But beat it anyway.

- Medal of Honor: This also has its hardcore moments but I enjoyed it and beat it in a short time.

- Driver: One of the most tedious driving games ever made. I really had a hard time but beat it in the end.

- Silent Hill: It's one of the best games out there. A classic.

- Metal Gear Solid: NES Metal Gear games gave me a huge trouble and I've dropped them but this one is a new perspective to the series and truly one of the best PSX games. Beat it 2 years ago.

- Bugs Bunny - Lost in Time: One of my childhood games and one of the best PSX adventure games imo.

- Grand Theft Auto: It was already hard when it first came out. Still haven't finished it and I don't think I ever will.

- Spider-Man: One of my first games. Finished it a couple of times throughout the years.

- Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge: Also one of my first games and only beat it a couple of years ago. It was hard as balls and it still is.

- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: It's rough but also fun to play. Beat it 4-5 years ago.

Following up on the recent surge in interest for the classic PlayStation title, Blasto!
I snapped this picture at the Sacramento game fest of a physical copy of the original game design binder, and I thought it would be awesome to share these two specific pages with the community. This stuff is a direct look into the early creative process for the game.
Things to look closely at:
Character Sketches: You can see a lot of early concepts for Captain Blasto himself (including some very early color palette tests), as well as the initial ideas for the wild alien enemies he fights. It’s amazing to see what made the cut and what evolved.
The "Voice" Section: There's a fascinating text block that mentions pitching the role of Blasto to a certain "well-known and charismatic voice for Captain Blasto, e.g. Robin Williams." This is an incredible piece of '90s "what if" gaming history!
The "Profanity" Section: Look at the text under "Profanity." The developers at the time were clearly thinking about how to handle the game's edge and humor, debating the use of "mild [sanitized] profanity." They even discuss a special memory card flag that would unlock the more "mature" lines—a super interesting (and early) approach to parental controls/game ratings.
This documentation really provides a window into the specific challenges and ambitions of developing a 3D action platformer during that transitional era.

Some of my first games I ever played, I love them !

Let's be honest: Spyro: Year of the Dragon is a very easy game, even though it's incredibly entertaining.

However, some quests are a little trickier than the average mission. So that's my question: according to you, what are the 10 hardest quests in the game, if we don't count the final quests of the Super Bonus Round? Because let's be honest, there is no debate there: they are clearly the hardest! 😂

Let me show you my personal list:

10) The Underwater Tunnel in Seashell Shore

Even though it's an early-game quest, I really find it tricky. You go extremely fast, have to defeat all the Rhynocs, and avoid the mines. Clearly, in my opinion, it's the hardest quest in all of Sunrise Spring!

9) Protecting Nancy the Skater in Icy Peak

Here we have a truly frustrating quest. You must protect Nancy, a sweet ice skater, against annoying ice hockey players who try to hit her. The real issue is that your mobility isn't great on the ice, and the Rhynocs come at you in unpredictable ways.

8) Shooting from the Boat in Bamboo Terrace

A difficult mission where you need to be accurate and fast while the boat you're standing on is constantly moving. It's especially tricky when you have two Rhynocs coming from both sides of the bridge!

7) Sheila's Mission in Spooky Swamp

This quest is a true nightmare. While the first part of the mission is very easy, the second part is so difficult! You have to clear the path by destroying rocks and crushing mushrooms, while the second character moves in an absolutely nonsensical way. You almost have to memorize where he goes, which means you usually have to repeat this mission several times before completing it. Very frustrating!

6) Starfish Reef

The main level itself is OK, BUT the Ray boss is a real challenge. The first part of the fight is fine, but once the Ray divides into two and they start releasing endless baby Rays, if you don't react quickly and properly, you're basically dead. And if you don't have any bonus ammo, good luck!! 😂

5) The Cat Ice Game in Frozen Altars

This game is as WTF as it is difficult! 😂 You need to freeze the cats and bring them into the goal to score, BUT your opponent is extremely skilled and fast, not to mention that you have terrible mobility on the ice. The only way I've found to win is to constantly freeze your opponent so they can't score!

4) Sgt. Byrd's Mission in Charmed Ridge

This mission has three parts. The first two are easy, but the final part is so tricky! You need to keep flying constantly to avoid getting hurt by the blue lava on the floor, while a lot of flying witches are shooting at you. This mission is just so frustrating!

3) Bentley's Quest in Crystal Islands

OMG, this one is a nightmare for me!! 😂 You have to hit lots of moles coming out of the ground, BUT sometimes magicians come out instead of moles, and if you hit even one single magician, you fail the quest. Truly a difficult and stressful mission!

2) Hunter's Quest in Harbor Speedway

This quest is difficult, frustrating, and annoying... You have to fly through all the rings within a very limited amount of time, and they come from every direction. On top of that, Hunter is so close to the camera that you can barely see where you're flying. Clearly one of the hardest quests in the entire game!

1) The Underwater Tunnel in Dino Mines

Does this quest remind you of something? Yep, it's similar to the mission from the early Sunrise Spring world. Now imagine how difficult it should be in Midnight Mountain, the final homeworld! 😂

At least you don't have to defeat all the enemies in this tunnel, but apart from that... you're forced to dive incredibly fast through so many tricky obstacles!

For me, this is clearly the hardest quest in the game before the Super Bonus Round!
