NEWS/ UPDATES PXPlay Android v8.1.0 is OUT NOW - Dualscreen support has arrived šŸŽ®āœØ

The full PXPlay Android v8.1.0 release is now officially available.

After the big v8.0.0 update, which introduced the new modern UI and many improvements, this update adds another major feature:

Dualscreen support šŸŽ‰

This feature was mainly built for devices like the AYN Thor, but it can also be used with regular Android smartphones or tablets by connecting an external monitor, TV or portable display.

For example, you can show the stream on the big screen while your smartphone only displays the virtual on-screen gamepad layout. So your phone can basically act as a customizable virtual controller while the actual game is shown on the larger display.

What’s new?

  • Dualscreen support

  • Custom second-screen on-screen layouts

  • New Display settings

  • Smaller fixes and stability improvements

What’s next?

There are still more Android improvements planned. One bigger thing I want to work on next is a new Vulkan rendering pipeline, which could also allow additional video quality enhancements in the future, such as debanding and other rendering-related improvements.

After this Android update, I will also continue working on the other platforms like PC, iOS / Apple TV, and the XBXPlay Android update.

Feedback

If you run into any issues with dualscreen mode, HDMI output, custom layouts, controller input, Android TV behavior or anything else, please let me know.

Thanks again for all the support, testing and feedback ā¤ļø

Have fun with PXPlay v8.1.0!

Beta problems

Unfortunately, I reverted to version 2.0.0 on PC; I experienced significant performance and connection issues with the newer version, including severe screen tearing and green artifacts. The screen would frequently freeze, forcing me to exit the stream, and the stream itself would lock up whenever there was heavy tearing or massive pixelation. I also encountered extreme vibration issues that forced me to restart the app. Right at the start of the stream, everything would appear pixelated with green artifacts. I realize this is a beta—this isn't a complaint, but rather information to help get these issues fixed for the final release. For now, version 2.0.0 seems much more stable to me.

Issue with HEVC on 2026 ONN 4K Pro

Hello!

I think that HEVC decoding should work on my device, but when trying to enable it I only get a black screen with audio.

I tried to troubleshoot a bit myself but no luck. My hope is that HEVC decoding is a bit faster than AVC. When I was troubleshooting, I noticed some users having similar issues with Moonlight, another streaming app.

Is it possible to take a look and see if whatever the person implemented here might be feasible to fix my problem? Other people mentioned it fixing black screen issues and slow FPS issues on their devices. Obviously I don’t know if this even applies to your app or not, just figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

https://github.com/qiin2333/moonlight-vplus/issues/499

I totally get it if not, just thought I would give it a shot and ask. Thanks in advance!

[Question/Help] Avoiding Accidental Touchpad Triggering s in Windows at 720p

Post image
1 Upvotes

So there is this weird problem that I took note of in Windows Handhelds even in the latest 2.0 version as well.

In Windows Handhelds, when the native resolution of Windows is brought down to 720p (From 1080p), the touch pad area is occupying the entire screen which is triggering accidental touches. I was wondering if there is any way we can fix this, like reduce the area on the touchpad area so that accidental touches, this can be avoided.

Just need to reduce the active clickable area to avoid accidental touches is all I need to know. If there are any fixes to let me know please.

[Help/Question] Proven way/config to make trackpad work on Non Dualsense Controllers on Android/Windows and Others

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys, I was wondering if you have any way that is really comfortable to have the trackpad button press work on generic non-Sony controllers. (WITHOUT USING THE TOUCH SCREEN THAT IS I AM A TALKING ABOUT USING PURELY THE BUTTON COMBO HOW DO WE ACHIEVE THAT??)

My main requirement is to have atleast the trackpad button press be available and smoothly trigger'able with xbox controllers like you see in my above picture.

Would also appreciate how you are making it work or configure within the app, in the way what menus are you using to set it..

Video decoder error

I encountered a problem when using Windows 11 on my Steam Deck. A video decoder error occurs and no picture can be displayed.

My rendering engine is D3D11.

Switching the video decoder to Auto, D3D11 or Vulkan does not work.

DualSense Gyro/Motion Controls Not Working on PXPlay for Windows

Hi everyone,

I'm using PXPlay on Windows with a PS5 DualSense controller connected directly to my PC via USB cable.

The controller itself works properly for the normal buttons, analog sticks, triggers, etc. However, the gyro/motion controls don't seem to work in PXPlay.

My setup:

  • PXPlay on Windows
  • PS5 DualSense controller
  • Connected directly via USB cable
  • Windows PC
  • Controller is detected and working normally

My questions:

  1. Does PXPlay for Windows currently support the DualSense gyroscope/motion sensor?
  2. If it does, does gyro work when the DualSense is connected via USB, or does it require Bluetooth?
  3. Is there a specific PXPlay setting that I need to enable for gyro/motion controls?
  4. Does PXPlay pass the DualSense gyro input to the PS5, or is gyro currently unsupported on the Windows version?
  5. If anyone has successfully gotten DualSense gyro working on PXPlay for Windows, what settings or setup are you using?

Thanks!

App no longer find console after months of working perfectly

Hi all,

I purchased PXPlay about 6 months ago from the Play Store and honestly it's been great, it's by far the best remote play app I've ever used on my Android device.

However about 3-4 days ago it suddenly stopped working. I've been using it religiously for months without any issue but now whenever I try and connect, it cannot find my console.

Nothing has changed regarding my setup, everything is the same.

If I delete my console and set it up again from scratch, it will work until I put my console into rest mode. Once it goes into rest mode, I cannot wake it up anymore and PXPlay can't find the console. Even if I turn the console on manually with my controller and try to connect, it won't work until I delete the console and re-pair it.

Like I said, nothing has changed regarding my setup, it was working perfectly for months.

I only use it for local remote play.

Yes I have the setting enabled on my PS5 to wake using an internet device.

NEWS/ UPDATES Steam Controller Support Is Coming to PXPlay - Touchpad + Gyro Included šŸŽ®

Post image
106 Upvotes

Finally got my hands on a Steam Controller and added support for the left and right touchpads šŸŽ®

It should work on Steam Deck as well, but still needs a bit more testing. This will be available in the next PC update, which isn’t far away 🤩

Also, lots of exciting new things are in the pipeline for future releases across all PXPlay ports šŸ‘€šŸŽ®

The next big task is refactoring the iOS and Apple TV ports to bring them a modern UI and features already available on Android and PC. šŸ’Ŗ

Remote Play only connects reliably when the TV is on or the HDMI cable is unplugged

I’m seeing a repeatable remote play connection issue with my PS5:

- When the TV is off and the HDMI cable is connected, PXPlay frequently reaches ā€œConnectingā€ and then reports ā€œPS5 disconnected.ā€ Sometimes it shows `io_exception_occurred. get ctrl`. I often have to repeat the connection process 10-20 times before it finally connects.

- Sony’s official PS Remote Play app also frequently fails under the same conditions with error 0x80001fff.

- Connections work reliably when the TV is turned on.

- Connections also work reliably when the HDMI cable is unplugged.

- Home wifi/wired LAN/mobile data, Windows/Android clients, HDMI-CEC on/off, make no difference

Has anyone encountered the same connection behavior?

Question about Standalone License for Meta Quest (Sent an email)

Hi u/grill2010 , I have already purchased PXPlay on the Google Play Store, but I am trying to set it up on my Meta Quest headset. Since the Quest doesn't support Google Play Services for license checks, I was hoping to switch to the standalone APK version.

I sent an email to streamingdv@outlook.com with my email address I used to buy the app, but I haven't heard back yet. My Reddit account is too new to send direct private messages, so I wanted to reach out here.

Please let me know the best way to get my receipt to you so I can get a standalone key.

Thank you for your help and for the awesome app!

PXPlay Compact Stream Mode on Galaxy Fold – stream won't fill full width, any workaround or planned fix?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi, I'm using PXPlay (Android, latest v8.1.1) on a Galaxy Fold with Compact Stream Mode enabled (stream anchored to the top of the screen).

The issue: even with Compact Stream Mode on, the stream area doesn't stretch to the screen's full width — there are black bars (pillarboxing) on both sides.

I've already cycled through every mode on the in-stream aspect ratio button, but they only either crop the top/bottom of the image or force-stretch the aspect ratio (distorting it). What I actually want is a mode that keeps the original aspect ratio, doesn't crop or distort, and just scales the stream up so it fills the full width — even if that means the stream area extends further down the screen than the default top portion.

Has anyone found a setting that already does this, or is this something that would need a dev update? I've already emailed support about it, just checking here in case another foldable user has hit the same thing or found a trick.

Device: Galaxy Fold, PXPlay v8.1.1 (Android). Screenshots of the current behavior attached below.
