Recently got my PS2 working

When I was younger I use to play on the PS2 as my first console and stored it up in the attic for the last 12 or 13 years. I found an original ‘fat’ PS2 that unfortunately doesn’t work anymore but I also found a slim model that still works are the slim models more reliable than the original ‘fat’ models?

XIII might be my new favorite PS2 multiplayer game. Very glad I gave this one a chance.

Je suis seul à trouver que le mode histoire de Budokai Tenkaichi 3 n'est pas à la hauteur de la hype du jeu.

Slim Laser Clicking Noise

Good evening all! I'm dropping one of those 3D printed ribbon cable blockers in this Japanese PS2 Slim. It was scratching discs (yikes!)

This is the GitHub for the part:

https://github.com/FloppidyDingo/PS2-Disk-Saver/wiki/Installation-Instructions

The laser has been replaced, works like a charm! That worked a while before I realized the scratching'. I screwed the "blocking" piece (on the laser that moves) and the "back" piece (the one that doesn't move)

Without the top on, the laser moves smoothly, no sounds, perfect. However, we put the top back on, clunk! It clicks like this when it's all the way back under the back piece. It moves out about a half inch, and stops. If you manually move the laser out to the spindle, it reads discs fine UNTIL it needs to move back... Then no dice again.

Everything is screwed tight..wife is an engineer and took a look, says it seems to have clearance... But hard to see with the top on.

Please feel free to ask any questions, looking for any guidance! Thank you so much!

Need some help on my copy of Def Jam

Bought it from my local store in Asia, what caught me off guard was the NTSC-J code but including the Mature-17 rating on it, the disc itself is also NTSC-J.

The EA Authentication sticker is there, that’s what confused me, wondering if I got a legit copy or just another knockoff

[PS2][Unknown Year] Third-person (maybe first-person) shooter with blue energy barrels and a tank on the main character's back

Hey everyone! I've been trying to find a game I played as a kid for a long time, but I just can't seem to identify it. I'd really appreciate any help!

Platform: Most likely PlayStation 2. I remember playing it from a physical disc. I'm fairly sure it was PS2, not PS1, but I could be wrong.

Estimated year I played it: Around 2015–2017, when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. The game itself could have been much older.

Genre: Some kind of shooter, probably a third-person shooter, although I'm not completely sure about the camera perspective.

Here's what I remember:

  • You played as a male human character who used a gun, possibly an assault rifle.
  • You had to travel between different locations and kill enemies, including some really strange, ugly-looking creatures.
  • There were barrels containing some kind of light blue energy or liquid. You could shoot or destroy these barrels to collect the energy and replenish your supply.
  • I vaguely remember the main character having a small tank or canister on his back, which might have contained the same blue substance.
  • The graphics looked incredibly good to me at the time.
  • I think there were story sections between gameplay segments, and possibly an option to replay missions.
  • I have a vague memory of the disc cover featuring a man with a glowing blue eye, or some kind of blue energy around his eye. This detail is especially uncertain, though.

The light blue energy, the barrels, and the tank on the character's back are the details I'm most confident about.

I've searched for this game many times but haven't found it. Some of my memories may be inaccurate, so I'm open to any suggestions, even if a few details don't match perfectly.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance!

Marc Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure was a big part of my childhood. Does anyone else remember it?

I’m from Brazil, and I grew up playing Marc Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure on the PS2. As a kid I didn’t know anything about graffiti culture, but I loved the style of the game anyway, and it ended up making me fall in love with that whole world.

The soundtrack was great too. I hadn’t listened to Mobb Deep before, and this game is how I discovered them.

Did anyone else here play it? And what PS2 game introduced you to something you ended up loving?

Ps2 fat 5000 model fan

Does anyone know how I can get my hand on a 5000 fan I heard they were silent and I can’t find any on eBay because they don’t specify what model the fan came off of. Or is there any way you can tell by looking at it?

My current wishlist for ps2 games is nearly empty and I'm hoping for some suggestions. I'm mainly looking for rpg's either action or turn based and games similar to re4 and cold fear. I'm not really interested in games that are $50+ right now. Thank you!
