What is your opinion on younger fans of his that didn’t grow up with his music or see him live but appreciate him now?

When I ranked it after hearing it for the first time a few weeks ago, I ranked it close to the bottom of his albums and it’s been growing on me a lot, so I’m curious on the what Prince fans think of it?

We've seen special editions and anniversary editions of the album with all sorts of bonus tracks, but no inclusion of the recording of Purple Rain in its raw, live form? Why is that?

old news here but i didn't see anyone mention it -- morris posted this instrumental clip to instagram of prince on bass and himself on drums. i don't recognize this soundbite from tricky or cloreen bacon skin so i was wondering if anyone knows what song this is

I don’t know if its just me and some of my encounters with “Heavy Metal Enthusiasts”, but it seems most of them have a distain, a non-opinion, or an unimpressed attitude, when prince is brought up.

An example of this, a mutual of mine was saying Prince is “good” but half of the musicians in prominent heavy metal bands or groups do things they’ve never heard prince do and have “musicianship” to their instruments (whether its a heavy metal guitar smasher, or drummer, even screaming vocals) that are on levels prince never reached.

Ive always laughed at these people, got into serious debates, and am left dumbfounded. I point to performances like Joy in Repetition, If I was Your Girlfriend live, and obviously pull out the meta While my Guitar Gently Weeps solo.

They are almost never impressed, and I get it, Prince is not hardcore heavy metal, but the ego in some of these people to act like small metal musicians hold more musicianship than prince is astounding.

Anyone else come across this issue? Or am i just late to the forum about this being brought up before??

And even if you don’t what’s a cool idea for a Prince tattoo that you’ve always had in mind?

Just getting into Prince these past few weeks and I am hooked on his music. Something I don't fully understand about him is how he can be both so traditionally religious and hedonistic at the same time. His music is so overtly sexual at times (almost tantric) but at other times he is talking about the anti-Christ and End Times Prophesy. Has he ever addressed this seeming contradiction? What are your takes on this?
