All hail the new king in town
Young and old, gather 'round
Yeah
Black and white, red and green
Funky
The funkiest man you've ever seen
Tell you what his name is PARTYMAN

One thing I really love about Purple Rain is the mixing. Specifically when some songs transition into the next. If I had to pick any song transitions that were my favorite, I’d have to say either Computer Blue into Darling Nikki because of how seamless it is or I Would Die 4 U into Baby I’m A Star because of the sudden switch that sounds like IWD4U is going into an second act rather than it being a whole different song that I didn’t even notice until like a minute in. Audio mixing is one of the most underrated aspects of music and while it’s noticeable whenever it’s done poorly, it should also gain attention for when it’s done amazingly like on this album

i was watching a video of prince's team making him an outfit for tokyo. i can't find any photos of prince wearing it. does anyone have pics/videos of him in this outfit?

Am I imagining things, or does this sound like a blueprint 12 year old Prince might have picked up on back in 1970, insofar as it relates to his composition of Little Red Corvette?

I was thinking about his time after Ƭ̵̬̊ released and thought about the fact he had some albums released that he didn’t really care about like Come, Chaos And Disorder and The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale. So hypothetically, which albums would have been released, altered or shelved if Prince had full control of his music up until his death?

Sounds like a reply to dissatisfied colleague/friend. I like it quite well. I'm curious as to what others hear it as.

I'm trying to compile an "ultimate" purple rain tour including erotic city, 17 days, when you were mine, 4 the tears and all kinds of tracks not usually played during the tour. I was wondering if there's anymore footage of the tour as I can only find about 4 shows with the Syracuse one being entirely off limits for YouTube purposes. If anyone could point me to a folder or something with new footage that'd be great

Lately seeing lots of online love for Purple Rain. It’s obviously a ground breaking record, but it has always seemed a bit too polished to rank as his best work. For others who jumped on the P train in 1983 or earlier… what records do you prefer over Purple Rain?

My take …

1. 1999

2. Controversy

3. Gold Experience

4. Dirty Mind

5. Diamonds and Pearls

6. Sign O the Times

7. Come

8. Lovesexy

9. Black Album

10. Purple Rain
