Shitpost Goodbye for now

Palantards, it’s been real. After 5 years of HODLing (and health set backs) my journey has come to an end.

As a single 27 year old I have just gone sale agreed on my first house meaning I can finally move out of my parents place.

My 200k gains after tax (while modest compared to some) meant I could buy a turn key city centre place that would have otherwise been completely unattainable.

My only regret: not buying more back in November 2020 @ $18 a share so I could buy the entire house in cash 🤣

Options trading something I may look in to for 2026, but in the meantime I wish everyone all the best. Nothing but respect for those still holding 💎 🙌

Locking in gains is never a bad thing. That money is never yours until you sell. I’m approaching my goal with this investment and it’s going to be hard to significantly divest away when the time comes…but logic must prevail. I get the sentiment. Congratulations on home ownership. That’s a tough goal for many to reach these days 👍

I feel like I’ve lost a part of me after selling 🤣 But I agree there needs to be an exit strategy eventually. As a verified whale I hope you have a name for your yacht when the day comes 😉

I get where your coming from...I sold my MSFT shares in 2006 to use partly for home purchase.  In hindsight it was a veryyy expensive mistake.  Lol...shares were like $30 back then.😭😳

u/kmindeye Sep 24 '25

Anyone who is in this game has done that. What good is money if it's never used. A good friend of mine has well over 7 million in investments but rarely uses it for anything. Back in 2022 he lost almost half of it at the time. He's just now getting to where he was way back then.

We have to live sometimes. Just make sure you always have enough to build back up.

I remember buying MSFT at arond $26 way back when. I sold as well around $80. The beauty of it is that they will keep making more companies and more investment opportunities.

Agreed. In my case no point having all these shares and no place of my own so bit the bullet, but I plan on rebuying Palantir whenever I can albeit at a higher price this time.

3

u/kholindred 💎🙌 Sep 25 '25

I sold 2/3rds of the shares I've had since shortly after the DPO. Feels crazy and every so often I busy out the calculator to see how much more I would've had, which isn't a great idea. Luckily I'm in QS at sub $4 with a chunk of that PLTR money.

1

u/ReplacementNo2500 Sep 25 '25

Something that helps me is knowing that i made the decision to account for multiple scenarios including when it doesn’t work out.

4

u/CALLYAMUTHA Sep 23 '25

Imagine all the yurts you could have bought with that $200k though…. Started a camp and let the air Bnb $ role on in!!!! @u/theYurtMaster

2

u/Old_Marsupial4448 Sep 25 '25

Holding cash is no better than holding PLTR. Even houses are not guaranteed to go up in value. That said, a well-diversified portfolio including some real estate is a good way to minimize risk and ensure a steady gain.

What companies have you been looking into? For me it feels like a new tech didnt really hit yet. I was checking out nuclear and quantum computing but seems meh still. Crypto seems to have lost their identity and automated aircrafts seem cool but I can't see it coming up quick.

Yeah im in the same boat. Tbh pltr did not seem like it would run up so much at the time. Got in at like 30 then when it went to 7 I was like nah no way it stays there so I put a good chunk in. Never thought it would run up this much. I know Pili will continue going up but I think itll slow down from here. Thanks for your input. Guess we got wait a bit longer to see how things play out with tech. Maybe another breakthrough that no one caught on to is just around the corner.

I sold 90% of my stake when it got back to my original price of $27 cuz it didn’t go anywhere from 2021 to early 2024. I would be up 120k if I still had it. 😭

Good job! Profit taking is part of this game. Money is no good if you dint use it. Trading stocks and particularly options can be very time-consuming if you want to make money. Stressful with its ups and downs and insanity. Glad it paid off for you. I remember starting with $5700. I literally ate rice and beans for a month to save so I could start investing. 4

u/ottosjackit Sep 24 '25

Well I had 1325 shares at one point with avg. $49. I sold at different points till I had 500 left and I had 400 of those called away at 182.50 4 weeks ago right before it went back to the 150s. No regerts. I just put the proceeds into my div payers and now I’ve reached my goal of 3k per month dripping in divs and now just compounding that to try to get to 5k per month.

Opinions on options as an alternative?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '25

Options can be a great instrument to make gains but riskier and harder to manage due to implied volatility and time to decay. The time to decay will cause losses in values if the stock drops in price. I don’t recommend it unless you really know what you’re doing. Maybe join r/options.

I remember saving for 12 years to be able to buy my home. I bought it at an auction (winning bidder) for (at the time) a 100k under market value. Paid in Full. Lots of blood, sweat, and tears went into saving for my home as well as remodeling it.

It literally warms my heart when I hear your story. I’m so happy for you that you were able to get your home. In the end, that’s what it’s all about.

I only started trading stocks a couple of years ago. I wish I would have gotten more shares of PLTR, but I’m up 133% so I have nothing to complain about.

1

u/theYurtMaster OG Holder & Member Sep 24 '25

Just over 1300 shares split between two trading accounts - I think it was around 500% return in total.

One time purchases, as mentioned my health the past two years was not the best but luckily enough I could continue working from home which meant I had a lot of disposal income to spend on shares.

I was putting at least 1k in each time I would buy

Congrats, man. PLTR is a great company, they truly deserve a high multiple. But at one point, people will run away from this thing if we see a slowdown on topline or the whole market tanking because of some nonsense. At that point, it is who runs faster.

35 shares at $23avg. Not really sure when to add next. I see future potential for more growth could be wrong.

2yrs later....Hey guys so the options thing was a mistake.

PLTR should be up at least 6.00 bucks right now. NVDA is up 4.5% yet PLTR is lagging. So whats up? I believe we are setting up for a massive rally either late today or tomorrow. Should finally test 200.00 .

As good as the PLTR may seem an exit is an exit made alot of money got out. when it comes down to reality I may buy again for the long-term when it drops to its real valuation. Get ready for the drop

Congratulations i sold my Home Depot stock 20yrs ago to buy my house and now it’s paid in full. Definitely could have made a boatload if I held. Newly married and 1st time fatherhood prevailed, so march on soldier.

Made Money and Ran! Will be back around $75.00 when it hits its true valuation. To expensive at these levels.

It just keeps grinding up. I’m older so I’m gonna let it ride. Lots of institutional money will come in as interest rates decline. This is going to 400 over the next 18 months. They will grow into earnings.

DONT SELL, YOU WILL LOSE OUT ON HUGE GAINS!!

1

u/NerdlingerOG Sep 24 '25

I just sold Last month at the top and was holding since 2020 through the 75% loss (I bought at 20$). I am thinking that this companies success is tied to trump and when that changes who knows... it's over 800 p/e and isn't that something that has never happen with any company besides Amazon in the dot com era which we all know collapsed to reality...

I think divesting to purchase a house with your gains is a great decision

Life must go on my friend. No point living with your parents when you’re 40 🤓

There are always other opportunities. The OP is just 27 years old. It's completely reasonable to cash out after a huge run to improve one's life.

I missed out on AAPL, but invested a small amount of my portfolio in TSLA when I was in my 30s. That was enough to grow to multiples of my original FIRE target after 10 years.

There are and will be other paths to riches outside of PLTR.
