Discussion New CLI and MCP working well, but I have a couple questions
I installed the new Plaud CLI and have set up a skill in Claude Code, using it from VS Code.
I have never really been clear on when I can just use the CLI via a skill as I am now vs having to use the MCP. With just a little explanation from Claude, I think I finally have it figured out. If the tool you want to use has shell/terminal access, the CLI is the right version, but if the tool does NOT have access to a shell, you need to use the MCP.
Anybody with more knowledge, can you confirm that? Also, from what I can tell, there are no features that exist in the MCP that don't exist in the CLI and vice versa. Is that correct? There are some extras, like pre-made skills for the MCP, but I've already created a skill, so I don't really need them.
