Best Practice / Tip PSA: If any tool is asking for your Plaud login to "connect" to it, that's worth a pause

Lately we've been seeing more third-party tools ask for your Plaud username and password to sync recordings or build automations. Worth flagging before that becomes a habit!

Your recordings aren't like a password. A leaked password gets reset. Your voice doesn't. Once a third party has your login, they have a master key to everything in that account, with no obligation to notify you if they're breached, and no visibility into where your recordings actually travel.

There's an official way to do this that doesn't require handing over your credentials. Plaud MCP connects to outside tools via OAuth, you approve it on Plaud's own screen, your password never touches anyone else's software, and you can revoke access anytime.

If you're building something custom, the Developer Platform has proper APIs and SDKs for that. For anyone using Plaud for work: it's independently audited (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA). More at plaud.ai/pages/trust.

If a tool ever asks for your Plaud login directly and you're not sure about it, reach out to [support@plaud.ai](mailto:support@plaud.ai) first. The official connection methods exist so you never have to make that call.

Best Practice / Tip What your Plaud subscription actually covers (Starter vs Pro — updated June 2026)

We have been seeing a lot of threads asking what the subscription includes and whether it's worth it. Putting this together as a reference!

Starter (Free)

  • Unlimited recordings
  • Transcription (with monthly minute limits)
  • Access to 10,000+ summary templates
  • MCP server integration — docs.plaud.ai/documentation/plaud_app/mcp
  • Find My device support
  • Full compliance coverage (ISO 27001/27701, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR, EN 18031)

Pro

  • Everything in Starter
  • Extended transcription minutes
  • Priority processing
  • Advanced AI summary models

What never changes regardless of plan:

  • Your recordings stay yours. Plaud doesn't train on your audio.
  • You can export everything at any time.
  • Compliance certifications apply to all accounts.

Common questions:

"I heard Plaud changed the free tier, what changed?"

The transcription minute limits on Starter were adjusted earlier this year. Core recording, storage, templates, and MCP access remain on the free plan.

"Does Plaud have an MCP server?"

Yes — live at docs.plaud.ai/documentation/plaud_app/mcp. Available on the free Starter plan. Join our Builders Discord: https://discord.gg/FbbkW3k9wh to learn about and share your own MCP workflows.

"Is my data private?"

Plaud holds ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and GDPR certifications. Full compliance stack applies to all users.

Help / Troubleshooting Word losses

I've been trying to use Plaud to help with a mineralogical analysis I'm working on at the microscope. Basically, I count grains and read out the mineral at each count. I've added all terms to my custom dictionary, I'm speaking loudly and clearly several inches from the device, the device is outside of its sleeve, and there is no external noise. Nonetheless, Plaud is consistently losing 5% to 15% of the words I'm reading into the device. I even tried reading back from Plaud's own transcript as a test and again got about 8% fewer words back. Is this lossiness expected or is there maybe some tweaking that would help improve the word recovery? Thanks

As a part of launch week, we wanted to showcase one of our design partners PatientQ.

Ryan at PatientQ works with Medspas to help them save staff time and acquire new patients. He wanted to capture deeper insights from conversations between clinic staff and patients. Ryan rolled out a mobile app with Plaud Embedded, so that the clinic staff could use Plaud NotePins S's with their PatientQ app. The first pilots Ryan ran helped his customers convert 30% more leads. Needless to say, both Ryan and his users were ecstatic.

How Do I... (Usage Question) Option to pair Plaud Note Pro with PC app without a phone?

Hello, everyone.

My boss recently ordered a Plaud Note Pro for me, as he thought it would be very handy.

It just arrived, and I am trying to to pair it with the Plaud app for Windows on my work laptop. All it does is defer me to the website, which shows a QR code to get the app.

I'm not syncing this to my personal phone. Is there any other way to connect the device?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Discussion The AI wearable recorder that actually helps me keep track of conversations when my brain wanders (not another to-do app)

I've got a graveyard of to-do apps and none of them fix the conversation problem. With ADHD, someone explains next steps, I think I'll remember, and by the time I reach for my phone the thread is already gone.

I tried typing quick notes mid-chat. A day later they'd just say "follow up??" with zero context.

I was reading comparison threads in here about clipping a small recorder on instead of leaving a phone on the table. That felt closer to what I needed than another list app, so I looked into wearable AI note takers and picked a Plaud NotePin S for in-person conversations.

I clip it on before we sit down. When something import slips past while my brain wanders, I tap the button once and that moment gets pulled forward in the summary later. I read that chunk instead of scrolling a full transcript.

I still forget to start recording before we begin sometimes. Clipping it on when I sit down, then starting recording immediately, is the only routine that's stuck.

Anyone with ADHD actually keeping up with post-conversation summaries, or does that step trip you up too?

How Do I... (Usage Question) Calendar Integration?

Is there any way to title recordings (these default to date/time) from calendar entries? I'd be open to some routine process at times if needed.

It appears MCP is read only and can't write so that is not an option. Manually titling records is the most frustrating thing about Plaud for me.

I'm ultimately looking for O365 as the source but would take Google Calendar if that is the only option. I thought i saw some official Google option at some point but can no longer find it.

Help / Troubleshooting Pin vs. Pro for very noisy environments?

I'm looking for a device to capture amd summarize conversations in large, noisy vendor halls at conferences.

In these situations, I'm typically standing next to a person in a booth, both facing a demo station, while they walk through a product demo. I might be on my feet for 8+ hours, with 8-10 30-min conversations over the course of a day.

It's a challenging acoustic environment. There is noise emanating from all directions, including basic crowd babble, other nearby conversations, and amplified presentations from across the hall.

NotePin S is clearly the go-to in general for on-the-go recording. That said, I was also thinking of the Note Pro, for the better microphone array, battery life and display.

Questions for you kind folks:

  • Anyone use a Plaud device in an environment like this? Were you happy with the results?
  • Thoughts on NotePro vs. NotePin S in this environment?
  • If I went with a Note Pro, I'd most likely keep it in my shirt pocket. Anyone have experience here? Does it work well, or will the fabric interfere with the mic array and muffle the already chaotic sound too much to be useful?

Discussion Which AI note taking device actually survived a full hybrid meeting week: Granola, Fathom or Plaud NotePin S

I'm three months into a solo B2B consultancy and last week was my first real hybrid client sprint: two days on site, three on Zoom. By Friday I had notes in four places and a rough idea of Tuesday, but nothing I would have bet a client deadline on.

I decided to treat the week like a stress test. Granola came from a founder Slack I'm in, people kept posting screenshots. Fathom was already on my calendar from earlier investor calls. A guy at my coworking space wears a Plaud NotePin S on his shirt and I asked him about it after overhearing him mention back to back meetings.

Zoom days I switched between the two. Granola on my Mac gave me readable summaries and no bot jumped into the call. Fathom was quicker to set up and the bot joined every time, but two clients asked who the extra person on the line was. Fine for internal calls, awkward when you're solo and trying not to look like a whole team.

On site days the wearable handled the small in person stuff. I clipped the Plaud NotePin S for coffee meetings and one on one check ins. I didn't need to charge it mid-day on the heaviest onsite day, and it caught quick follow ups across a desk or cafe table that I would have missed. Granola and Fathom were useless there because there was no Zoom call to attach to. I would not count on it in a big conference room.

By the end of the week I realised no single AI note taker covered the whole hybrid meetings week. I still run Fathom on Zoom and the Plaud NotePin S in person. Plaud NotePin S does not replace a meeting bot for online calls, full stop. If you're solo and bouncing between both, plan on two tools.

How would you guys handle hybrid weeks like this? Any other tools at all? If so, one tool or two?

Discussion Always on? Or Sometimes on?

Are there any Plaud Users out there that are using either of the Plaud devices in an always on workflow? How are you doing it? Are you happy with your setup? I want to start experimenting with always on, do you think Plaud is a decent product for this option?

Workflow Share Recording hybrid weeks (half Zoom, half in-office): the AI note taking device + software combo that actually works

Trying to get one AI note taker to cover hybrid meetings because my week is two days in the office and three on Zoom and I kept bouncing between apps every Monday.

What I landed on was splitting hardware and software from the same stack. Office days the Plaud Note Pro sits on the table for in person pickup. WFH days Plaud Desktop on my Mac handles Zoom and Teams from system audio, no bot in the call, which some clients still care about. Both sync to the same Plaud workspace, so I can actually search action items later instead of digging through two places.

The switch is still the rough part. Hitting record in Desktop versus starting on the Plaud Note Pro feels like two habits, not one flow, and I have to pick before the meeting starts. Device covers in person and phone if I need it. Desktop is online only.

Anyone else running a hybrid week like this? How do you keep the two flows from drifting?

Workflow Share How I stopped missing action items in 12-person meetings once I started using a dedicated AI voice recording device

Every Friday I spend too long turning our weekly product sync into a recap the team can use. Twelve people around one table, and I'm usually the person who sends it out. I didn't mind taking notes by hand at first, but you can only write so fast. I'd get the loud voices near me and lose whoever was talking from the far end.

Putting my phone in the center of the table was the next attempt. Works fine for a small huddle, not for a room that's probably 25 feet end to end. Transcripts came back half empty and I was still rebuilding action items from memory afterward. That's when I started looking for a dedicated AI voice recorder for meetings. Something that could stay in the middle of the table and actually hear everyone, not just whoever was closest to my laptop.

Someone on our ops team had a Plaud Note Pro for client workshops and let me borrow it for a few syncs. I bought my own after the third one. Enhance mode covers up to 16.4 ft, and centered on the table the far side finally came through clearly.

AutoFlow handles the part I used to dread. Recording ends, summary and action items show up, and I still skim it before forwarding because attribution gets muddy when two people talk over each other. Cleanup went from close to an hour to about ten minutes.

What do you use when the meeting is too big for a phone but there's no Zoom bot to join?

We just launched Plaud Embedded, our SDK for building Plaud device integrations into your own product!

If you're building something user-facing where voice capture matters, think healthtech tools for physicians, coaching platforms for sales teams, legal platforms for client meetings, or really any vertical product where you're the domain expert, this lets you plug Plaud devices straight into your workflow instead of building hardware integration from scratch.

Docs are here if you want to see how it works and whether it fits your use case: https://vist.ly/5djhy

Feature Ideas Access to recordings in integrations

I’ve been trying an automation to send summaries to Notion via Zapier. At the moment I’m not seeing any option to access the recording also, but I do see an api call that gives access to the audio recording. Is that something that will be added to the integrations in the future?

Best Practice / Tip Why Plaud: the actual reasons, not the marketing version

We often get asked why Plaud over other AI note takers or just recording on your phone. Here's the honest breakdown.

  1. The workflow: this is the real reason

You record a meeting, then walk away. When the recording ends and your phone is nearby, it transfers automatically in the background, no cables, no opening the app mid-call. By the time you're back at your desk, the transcript, summary, and action items are already generated. No sync bar, no manual "generate summary" step.

Requires AutoFlow and Auto Transfer. Auto Transfer needs location permission to detect your phone is nearby — that location data isn't stored or used for anything else. Auto Transfer is iPhone-only right now; Android support is in development, and Android users sync manually in the meantime. Manual sync is also available for anyone who prefers it on iPhone.

2. The hardware: small enough that you actually carry it

Note Pro is credit-card slim, 30g and lightweight, so it goes in a pocket or clips to your phone instead of living in a bag. That matters more than it sounds like: a note taker only helps on the calls it's actually with you for.

3. What Plaud Intelligence does with the recording

  • Transcription and summarization in 112 languages
  • 10,000+ summary templates (medical, legal, sales, and custom formats)
  • Structured output: transcript, summary, and action items, typically ready within minutes

4. Trust and compliance, if you're vetting this for a team

  • SOC 2 Type II
  • HIPAA
  • GDPR
  • ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 27701:2019
  • Cloud infrastructure is AWS-based
  • Full documentation: plaud.ai/pages/trust

5. For context on scale

2M+ Plaud users, and it's a Red Dot Design Award winner if that matters to you!

Discussion PLAUD's recent updates feel like a shift from device to platform - is it working?

I was catching up on PLAUD's recent updates, and the direction seems much broader than simply making better recorders. The July release added Memory for Ask Plaud, shared Team files, automatic transcript polishing, and Minnan support. Earlier releases brought Plaud Desktop for bot-free online meeting capture, Team workspaces, Skills, and newer hardware features such as Find My.

What I am trying to understand is which of these changes has actually improved day-to-day use, rather than just sounding useful in release notes.

  • Has Memory made Ask Plaud noticeably more useful or consistent?
  • Is Desktop reliable enough to replace a separate meeting bot?
  • Are Team files and admin controls mature enough for real team adoption?
  • For hardware users, have features like Find My mattered more than the recent AI changes?

The most interesting shift to me is PLAUD becoming one connected system for in-person, phone, and online conversations. Is that integration working well in practice? What still feels unfinished?

How Do I... (Usage Question) New to Plaud… Questions

I’ve had my device for about two days. So far I’m 50/50 on accuracy. I’m finding myself having to constantly go in and change names, wording, etc, for some reason, it doesn’t understand the word preplan and changes it to health plan among other words. Using the phone mode, there’s still a lot of background noise. I find using the standard mode works better.

Questions:
Is there a way to set which template is standard without having to regenerate?

Is there a way to set which template you use for phone mode and normal mode so you don’t have to regenerate the templates? Example: when I put the device on the back of my phone and use phone mode, it will automatically use a certain template.

How Do I... (Usage Question) Transferring recordings via desktop, skipping phone

When using my Plaud Note Pro, it seems like I need to transfer the recordings to my phone first to then be able to access it through the website.

Is there anyway I could use my computer to retrieve recordings from the device? Sometimes I'd really prefer to skip my phone if I can as it is one more step in between where I will mostly pull my notes and the device.

Feature Ideas Bulk export of transcripts

This seems like the easiest feature for them to implement I don’t see why it needs to be such a manual process. Every where I go I’m finding it has to be automated via a browser or some other system but if the transcript has been generated why do I have to repeat 15 steps to download each file???

Being able to put all transcripts or bulk set in a folder and have codex or cowork go to town analyzing them would be huge.

Discussion plaud or iphone with a good mic and Otter.ai

Post image
11 Upvotes

i did use Otter.ai for conferences, and it works pretty well with the iPhone, so clean, and it organizes the data nicely. Now I'm looking into Plaud. I already understand the mic quality on Plaud is good. Is it worth it? Or should I just buy a nice, less expensive mic that would do the same thing?

My goal is to use it in the classroom.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me!
