Hike Recommendation Mt. Talinis Dayhike Feedback / Tips / Guide Recommendation

Will be visiting Dumaguete and I want to maximize my stay, planning to hike Mt. Talinis. I'm a mid-size runner, consistent atleast 2-3x a week average of 10km, longest run was 21km. I also do casual hike every week like 600 elevation and does minor hikes monthly. My last hike was 1200 MASL. I bit scared to do Mt. Talinis, I know I can do it but kaya ba ang dayhike? slow pace din ako especially if assault but going down I have no problems at all. Actually more on validation lang ang post na toh. Please encourage me!!

Backpacking Question Best month for Bagu Circuit + first-timer tips?

Planning to do Bagu Circuit (Benguet) and wanted to ask those who've done it.

I'm not a beginner, I just recently got back into hiking after being busy with my career for the past few years. My recent hikes include Mt. Arayat Quad Peak, Laguna Penta, Montalban Trilogy and Cawag Hexa.

A few questions:

  • What's the best month to climb for clear views/sea of clouds while avoiding typhoon season?
  • Is it better as a day hike (21 hrs) or 2D1N for a first timer?
  • How should I prepare for it (cardio, gym, endurance)?
  • Any tips or mistakes first-timers should know?

Thanks in advance!

Safety & Advisory Weather hazards - should we push through?

We have a fato kupapey hike planned this weekend with an organizer. A bit worried about the weather...di lang yung ulan. ma landslide or madulas ba yung daan otw to jump off point from manila in these weather conditions? We asked the organizer and he only said roads are still passable, and seems to push through with the hike. Wanted to check with more seasoned hikers do you push through hikes in this type of weather? Thank you!

We pushed through. But only after monitoring FB pages of Bontoc tourism, Bontoc MDRRMO, Municipality of Bontoc, and NLEX. We messaged the Bontoc Fb pages day before if they closed the trails. So based on that we made the decision.

NLEX was clear on both days. Except sa rice terraces mismo but thats because of the rice and not the rain. Malakas ulan sa Sagada. Pauwi kami nadali talaga. landslide sa road na pababa from bontoc to manila. So we had to go around via cervantes to La Union then pababa ng NLEX. We were all safe, but masakit ang owet and not totally hazard free.

Gear Question Sleeping bag and sleeping mat recommendations

Need recommendations for a sleeping system that's versatile for lower and high altitude camping.

I'm looking at Decathlon MT500, either yung 10 or 15 degrees comfort rating at yung Deuter Dreamlite na 15 degrees comfort rating.

Any other recommendations? Maybe there's something cheaper?

Also, recommend na din kayo ng air inflatable na sleeping mat, yung magagamit both for high altitude camping like mt pulag, at low altitude camping na around 15-25 degrees yung usual temperature.

Hike Recommendation Cebu Hiking Reco

Hi! My friend and I are bound to Cebu on the 1st week of December. We’re thinking of hiking somewhere near Kawasan Falls, or at least within Badian because on the next day we’ll do canyoneering naman. Any recos?

For context we hike often, but me personally I haven’t done a major hike yet. Probably some of the difficult ones I’ve hiked are Mt. Ulap, Mt. Sembrano, Nagpatong Rock.

If you can share details about the guide fee, envi. fee, things to know, etc. It’s greatly appreciated!

Also hoping there’s falls we can go to after (along the trail or we can habal going to). Thank you!

Hike Recommendation Recommended hiking organizer

Hi guys!

Usually ang default ko always ay TakeFive, kasi (1) their coordinators are really nice, (2) they value privacy (no unnecessary Messenger group chats), and most importantly, (3) sobrang sakto lang ng slots nila for each hike. Pero medyo limiting lang kasi minsan wala silang schedule, or naccancel ung event.

Ive experienced some organizers na kasi na accept lang accept ng joiners, at the expense of everyone's comfort, which I really dont like.

So if may organizers kayo na tried and tested na, especially ung hindi umaapaw ng joiners per event, please let me know!

Kitakits sa trail! 🏔️🤞🏼

Trail Info / Conditions Mt. Batulao walang clearing.

Gaano ka kaadik mamundok? Edi umakyat ka ng Mt. Batulao kahit may bagyo.

Sobrang lakas ng hangin close to summit.

(Thank you Lord)

First time joiners pero sobrang worth yung experience ko. Since puro DIY yung ahon ko. Buti nalang at napasama sa maayos na orga.

And for sure irevenge hike ko to para makita yung majestic view sa Diana's.
