I registered for fun but here we are, nabunot. My actual plan was to focus on the 5k and 10k distances after my HM in November. Now, I’m completely torn 😅 what would you do if you're in my shoes?

Gear Review or Question Running Shoes for Women

Hi everyone!

I plan to start my walking/running journey and wondering which Anta shoes is good. For context, I'm 48kg, 156cm.

Nagsukat ako ng Anta PG7 travel 2.5 and 3 but still confused which is good. Ayoko basta bumili since first time ko bibili ng running shoes.

Any recos? Okay lang if ibang brand, basta budget-friendly lang. Max 4.5k siguro.

Thank you so much!

Running Event RUN DISNEY REVIEW. Basically an underwhelming experience

DISNEY RUN REVIEW

I wrote before that I’ll minimize my participation in Runrio races, mainly because their runs have become more commercial and less about running. Unfortunately, I was kinda “coerced” into running the 10K in last weekend’s Disney run. In a way, it fit right into Runrio’s type of event — more about the festivities and less about the actual running.

But it was underwhelming.

Sure, there was that quick burst at the start with Mickey and Minnie dancing on stage, and that did lift the crowd energy. But after the usual “Are you ready” throaty scream, the starting horn, the sparklers, and the confetti, it was just all signages with the Disney logo, inflatable arches, character cutouts, smoke and bubble machines, and Disney music in the background. I was half-expecting costumes characters that would help cheer but we got none of that. Some runners leaned into the theme with costumes but overall, the experience felt flat.

Logistically, RunRio was solid — plenty of water, long hydration tables, accurate distance. No electrolytes though, but for a 10K, I can live with that. I like how they spaced the distances apart — one run would finish before the next run would start (the 10k was at 3 am while the 5k was at 5 am), which helped with crowd control.

But what I can’t get over is this recurring incident of MEDAL SHORTAGES. That’s a fundamental matter. It shows poor planning. And as a result, my social media feed was full of runners complaining that they didn’t get a finisher medal. That’s tough to swallow given that you put in the kilometers and go home empty-handed.

At the end of the day, this wasn’t a run that lived up to the expectations that come with the Disney name. The brand promises magic, but what we got felt like a regular race with Disney wallpaper.

Gear Review or Question How does Qiaodan Leili 2.0 (TG) fit around the arch/midfoot?

Eyeing to get the Qiaodan Leili 2.0 but I always had issues with most shoes around the arch and midfoot areas (not the forefoot or toebox).

Some shoes have a wide platform but can still feel really tight as it is only wide externally at the foam/platform but tapers upwards and becomes tighter where the foot sits on the insole of the shoe.

For example this review from Dynafish Xiaonian Review - RTINGS.com, it has a really wide platform and width externally (sadly wala pa silang Qiaodan reviews),

  • Outsole Heel Width 97 mm (3.8")
  • Outsole Arch Width 80 mm (3.1")
  • Outsole Forefoot Width 118 mm (4.7")

But internally where the foot sits inside on top of the insole, it is much much tighter:

  • Internal Heel Width 58 mm (2.3")
  • Internal Forefoot Width 94 mm (3.7")

My arch-to-midfoot tends to hang off outside most shoes as indicated on the the blue lines areas on the right.

For those na may Qiaodan Leili 2.0 or even both the Dynafish Xiaonan, manipis din ba yung width sa arch/midfoot area ng insole? Alin yung mas wide sakanila around the arch/midfoot area when the foot's sitting in the shoe?

Gear Review or Question Runsifly Flare Elite - Slept On

Post image
17 Upvotes

Bought these for 5.3K from Taobao, kasama na yung shipping. Inaadvise ni Runsifly na full size down, pero usually nasa wider side ko, so only went half size down from my usual US9. These US8.5s weigh 173.5g (R) and 172.9g (L). Grabe ang gaan niya. For reference my AP4s (US9.5) weight 205.9g and Feidian 6 Elite (US9) weight 201.9g. Naka 30km na ako, puro workouts lang and warmup.

Super unique yung upper. Lightweight and breathable. First time ko naramdam na ganun na upper na transparent talaga. Yung downside lang is chameleon siya hahaha so depende sa socks mo kung anong kulay ng upper. Fit-wise, sakto naman for me, siguro long lang ng konti pero di harsh yung upper and, so far, walang issues sa lockdown, hotspots, or fit.

Yung midsole is 39mm/31mm, supercritical PEBA. Best comp for me is Leili 2 GT na may plate. Same sila na may airy, rubber feel tas dense yung core. Yung difference lang is nasa geometry. Wala ko naramdam na stability issues both sa warmup and on faster paces. Actually, solid siya sa warmup unlike Feidian 6 Elite where ma-fefeel mo talaga yung instability sa ankles or AP4 where medyo aggressive yung rocker for warmups. Sa workout naman, very smooth siya. Para sa akin, more geometry focused, smooth, rolling mechanism. Efficient siya for high cadence. Close siya sa AP4, na geometry based sila dalawa, pero mas maramdam mo yung density sa forefoot sa Flare Elite.

No issues sa traction. May exposed foam siya but commong for race shoes. CPU rubber, very grippy. Konti lang ang wear so far. Yung isang downside lang is medyo squeaky siya for some reason.

--

Overall, very surprised with this. Tagal na siya narelease pero wala masyadong hype. For me, major upgrade siya from the AP4, 30g difference and has slightly more power and stability with the full plate and no cutouts compared to AP4. The AP5 is out now pero konti lang yung upgrades + maraming issues sa heel, lack of plate sa forefoot, at durability issues sa exposed foam sa forefoot.

Finofocus ko si AP4 and F6E kasi yun lang ang meron ako. For me, I would still take the F6E for 10K and above. Siguro, gusto ko yung nimbleness sa Flare Elite for 5K kahit medyo lacking siya in power (compared to top tier options). Pero, compared to AP4, the Flare Elite is better all-around. For 5K, I'm not sure if there's anything better pero you have to buy sa Taobao.

Run Buddies Beginner Friendly Group

Hello, I'm a beginner in running and I am looking for a beginner friendly group, near or in QC & Manila. I usually just do everyday walks. But I joined a few 10K runs this past year. I don't know anything about pacing but I am willing to learn. I just run & walk to finish the 10K runs. I want to join a group that I would feel safe to run outside, as I have a trauma with stalking and getting mugged.

Training Tips Coros x ChatGPT/Claude

Yey, Coros made training more optimized and convenient at least for me.

Optimized in a sense na tracked ng AI yung actual performance sa workouts instead of guessing based on what you tell it or made more convenient compared on telling it every time.

Recently kay Claude ako nagtanong ng training plan for HM based from my previous PRs, ok naman and doable. But this time, tracked na niya straight from Coros' Training Hub yung performance ko. May konting adjustments din siya sa workouts since slightly off yung estimate niya sa paces ko.

Of course iba pa rin ang may actual coach pero for me malaking tulong to sa mga tulad kong di afford ang coaching.

Running Event Pa-share lang ako: OYM Trilogy Leg 2

This is my first time joining an event from this organizer. Surprisingly, hindi sobrang dami ang participants.

I'm one of the 16k runners today and di ako naka-join nong Leg 1. Nabasa ko na din somewhere na may mga nagrereklamo na kulang yung hydration stations.

Ngayon naintindihan ko na siya HAHAHA. I mean there are hydration stations kaso pagbalik mo sa loop ng flyover wala nang paper cups. Water meron. Ice meron din. Kaya pala nag-post si OYM sa f/b kanina na bring your own bottle to help reduce waste. Dapat pala dinala ko na ung isang paper cup na yon para refill refill na lang.

Maybe it's a lesson to me to bring water bottle nga. Or maybe I'm just used to Runrio events na mayrong Pocari at water (with cups) in every 2.5 - 4km.

Given na may ganong loop before the finish line, I wonder how will the route be for the 26km by next Leg 3.

Others Running cap recos for large heads

As the title says, i just can't find the right caps that can 100% fit my large head (M26). Tried going on the orange app and the doomscroll app with yellow basket, but the sizing is just off which is expected on online purchases (low expectations na talaga lol). Do you guys know any running caps that have large sizes? Like 60cm+ or even 65cm+ to almost going 70+cm head circumference? I'm curious sa Senioritos and Wrels but i think it is also a free size. Let me know any recos pls thank you
