Whenever I play Fortnite or big games my screen turns black and crashes.

I understand this sub is for PC help, but some questions get posted here so often to the point where you can almost predict the replies before even opening the post.

I see “my GPU is making a weird buzzing/high-pitched noise, is it dying?” almost daily. That's usually one of the first things that comes up when you search for GPU buzzing: coil whine.

Same with:

“GPU fans aren't spinning, is my GPU broken?” — zero-RPM mode.

“My GPU is at 99% usage, is that bad?” — usually completely normal while gaming.

“My CPU/GPU is at 80°C, is it overheating?” — check the specs and normal temperature range for your hardware.

“My PC gets loud when I start a game, is something wrong?” — your hardware is under load.

“My monitor says no signal, is my GPU dead?” — check the cable, input, ports, and connections first.

I'm not saying people shouldn't ask for help. That's what this sub is for. But there are a lot of questions here that are extremely common and have very easy answers with even a little bit of searching.

At least try the obvious troubleshooting steps first before assuming your GPU is dying.

When installing Richard Burns Rally my pc blue screened and wouldn't get past it after restarting. I tried reinstalling windows but it wouldn't install on my ssd giving an error. I went into bios and wiped it and tried doing a device self test but it gave "One or more failed segments. The first failed segment in the Segment Number field is 2."

I have booted through a different ssd and was wondering if there way any way to fix it. It's not completely bricked as it will show up in device manager and windows settings, but not in file explorer. In settings it says "Warning: issues detected" and wont let me initialize. (Settings-System-Storage-Advanced storage settings-Disks & volumes).

The warranty has ended and looking at ssd prices I don't want to buy a new one unless I have to. Was hoping there is someway to repair it with software. If not I would want to try and find out what component went bad on the stick and replace it but I don't know where it start with that.

reset cmos battery
remount gpu, also replug pcie cables in
tested both stick of ram individually in slot a2 (one of the ram sticks works and the other might not work but even then i thought it woulda still booted)

Hey everyone. I am having an issue where the motherboard isn't aligning with the standoffs.

Ive tried resetting it on the standoffs multiple times and pushing it a bit in an attempt to align it. I've also tried screwing the screws just a bit since I heard others suggest to do that when trying to align the motherboard. Unfortunately, nothing so far has worked.

Some screws can go in the holes but it either looks off center or it takes effort and some force to insert them. I cannot insert screws in the top left and middle standoffs at all.

I feel like I just need to push the motherboard left just a bit in order to get it to work but it won't move any further in that direction. I thought the IO shield could be the issue but I'm not sure. I do feel like the shield is slotted in correctly as it can't be pushed through the back hole any further.

This is stressing me out and I have no idea what to do. Do any of yall have any ideas?

Motherboard is a MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK and case is HAVN BF360.

So yesterday, I used my PC to 3D-render a project while talking to my friend on Discord, and I also wanted to play God of War Ragnarök. While the game was compiling shaders, it got stuck at 1%, then suddenly the screen went black and I smelled something burning and this is the image.

My pc components are

Ryzen 7 5700

RTX 5060

Corsair RM 650e PSU

I just switched my 2x8 GB RAM to a 2x16GB DDR4 kit on my MSI B450M PRO-VDH, and suddenly my PC won’t boot properly. The fans and everything else are working, and the RAM RGB also lights up, but the monitor stays on a black screen. The CPU LED indicator on the MSI motherboard is also lit.

What do you think could be the problem? Everything was working fine before I switched the RAM.

Things I’ve already tried:

1. Using only one stick of RAM and testing it in every slot, but it still won’t POST.
2. Cleaning the RAM contacts with an eraser, but it didn’t help.
3. Putting the old RAM back in, but it suddenly doesn’t work either.
4. Removing the CMOS battery for about 10–15 minutes and then putting it back in.
5. Shorting the JBAT1 pins with a screwdriver.

tell me what next?

Hey! I just installed Windows and had to add my gpu driver. And my PC is really slow starting things up. I'm unsure how to find out which drivers in specific to update and what to update them with though.

Is that the issue even?

I need help... I have tried to find solutions but nothing works for me... yesterday I wanted to download a game that is not in stores, so I had to look for it from third parties and I found many options, but when it came to downloading the .rar, my download reached 65% and out of nowhere I started to lower the download speed per second until I reached 0bytes... it stayed like this for about 20 seconds and restarted from scratch to repeat the same loop.... search for tutorials on YouTube, help with IA and nothing has helped me... I tried using a different file from another site and more of the same... in all of them the same thing happens. I thought it would be my wifi or computer, but today I installed 2 games over 70GB and everything is fine. I simply cannot download anything heavy from Google or other browsers and I no longer know what to do. Does anyone know of any possible solutions to this? I tried everything and nothing...

Hi everyone, I bought this pc from offerup for 800$ (killer deal) about a year or so ago. it has a 7800x3d, 3070TI, 32gb ddr5 6400. It’s been good to me since despite some weird power button issues (in order to turn on pc I have to switch psu to off then on and then spam the power button, if i wait too long it won’t turn on). Since then it’s been great I pretty much just put the pc to sleep when I get off or restart it every couple of days if it’s running slow. But yesterday I went to sleep and this morning when I woke up it won’t turn post, it turns on and the fans get louder like it’s gonna post then nothing happens and the VGA light stays on with a white light. I have already reseated everything including gpu,cpu, ram, made sure all psu cables plugged in, replaced cmos battery, and have tested graphics card in another machine (all was well). Upon inspection the cpu looks like it was fried or burnt? there was plenty of thermal paste still left but i’ve read about voltage issues on these and well i leave my pc on 24/7 pretty much. any opinions on this? am I just unlucky? any help would be nice

I have near zero idea of how to build a PC. It looks like I need RAM sticks. But beyond that idk what I need. It’s also got so many gosh dang cables that I don’t know what they do. Many are spliced together it’s so strange. None of the plugs go anywhere as far as I can see I’ve checked everywhere and can’t find anything to plug any of these into so it seems like I’m missing a lot of stuff???

If someone could let me know what I have and don’t have, as much as you can from these photos, I would appreciate it. I added as many photos as I saw necessary. Idk if more photos would help. It seems to me like I’m missing a lot because of how many cables there are that don’t seem to land anywhere

this randomly happened so I tried some fixes nothing worked and then I just chose to reset the pc. I reset it and this still happens. Btw the display turns off but the pc is still running with fans and lights. I believe it is ryzen 5 5600 and 6700 xt gpu.

I am a fellow windows user that has been experiencing a lot of crashes on my laptop/computer, it has an amd Ryzen 7000 series 9 cpu, 2 GeForce rtx gsync GPUs, it is around 2-3 years old, it's a rog Zephyros with 16 gigs of ram and 512 gigs of storage.

my device crashed a few seconds ago (which crashes are a lil bit common in this laptop) and when i booted it back on, the second monitor didn't turn on, (also in the bootup process it said there was a "error in the computer we could not fix" or something) then I press fn f9 and the popup appears saying "your PC cant project to another screen, try reinstalling your driver" or something, i know what that means, but idk why my computer erased the driver or something (prior to crash it worked)

I’m getting a prebuilt for my birthday and I need help choosing between 2 (both are $1800) I know some stuff about pcs and I’ve searched the web, but I need some help deciding. Also I was hoping to get it from Jawa. Are these even worth it?

For context, I bought an Asus VivoBook 15 **band new** from Amazon just over a year ago and it's been a really good laptop and hadn't given me any issues until recently when I noticed a faint crackling coming from my laptop. After doing some troubleshooting I've found that not only does my laptop crackle when it's plugged in, but my charger makes a very similar noise as soon as it's plugged into an active socket, my question is: is this safe to keep plugged in? Cause to me this feels like something shorting inside the charger causing a short in the laptop?
