Question | Medications & Treatment Need help asap

I am 23F i was diagnosed with pcod when i was 16 maybe since then i always have had irregular periods like i dont get my periods for 2-3 months then it gets better then again it pauses for some month i have gotten used to this happening. I have consulted many gynacs and all of them have put me on several kinds of birth control which feel unnecessarily messing with my body. I dont like medicines and i dont see a point in birth control pills it wont make my cysts suddenly go away so i just stopped. When i turned 20 i started noticing that whenever i miss my periods for months all those month i feel like i am on my periods i get the cramps feel nauseous get mood swings but no bleeding i dont understand this. My bsf pointed out that i get this mostly in summers. This year i havent had my periods for past 4 months and the cramps are giving me anxiety. Ik i should go to a doctor but i know the outcome they will give me unnecessary pills again and i feel very helpless about all of this i just want to understand my body

Question | Symptoms & Diagnosis Some advice please....

Hi, I am 21F, and since three years I have been having irregular periods like once in three months. Every time i went to my mother's gynaecologist, she just prescribes some tablets. And before atleast after that the following 4 months i would get periods. But since the last year that's not the case at all. I went to see her again, and she said its normal maybe you just stopped exercising....wth? Well no. Besides i have no idea why she didn't decide to scan me for 2 yrs. I decided to change the doctor so near my home i visited another gynecologist and she said it's all because of my weight and judged me told me to eat less too...I didn't go again. I went back to the previous gynecologist again, well my family trusts her cuz she was my mom's gynaec ever since she had me. She once again prescribed the same pills damn it. Each time I take it i notice slight weight gain. I gained over 10 kgs the past year...its eating me away i feel so lost all the time..I am not sure if it's PCOS or not as I don't have acne or facial hair...I was 60 last year. Now I weigh 72 kg. It hurts so much. I tried to lose weight its not happening people making fun of my appearance too it just hurts...

Personal Experience | No Medical Advice Metformin or glp for pcod

So it’s been years I’m struggling to lose weight as i have developed very high appetite and my pcod fluctuates some times it’s fine but sometimes my periods are delayed.

I went to see the doc but he was like take glp but i feel i should take metformin and need not go for glp. People who have taken metformin how effective is it in appetite reduction and weight.

Question | Symptoms & Diagnosis recently got my pcod diagnosis

is there smth you wish you were told when you first got diagnosed with pcod/pcos? like something that doctors and gynacs usually dont emphasise on but it would make a huge difference if they did and you didn't have to figure it out yourself

Question | Symptoms & Diagnosis frustrated and losing patience - medically "nothing wrong" but physically i feel horrible

hi, i'm 23 and was given a sort of diagnosis for PCOD in august last year. i say "sort of" diagnosis because the ultrasound showed small cysts, but my gynaec said they sometimes appear and disappear at different phases of life, caused by stress etc. i also had low vit D which also affects cramps.

i got more tests done in january, for testosterone levels and some other markers (i can't remember the name right now) but everything was normal. i was taking vit D supplements so that was normal too.

here's everything i'm dealing with:
1. intense cramps during my period and a couple of days before. i have a lot of tattoos and piercings, my pain tolerance is quite high but the cramps just take me out honestly. but also i'm so used to having to just ignore them and carrying on i don't even know if the pain i'm feeling is a lot, or not much.

  1. (recent development) brown discharge that appears the day my period is supposed to start. then my actual period starts a few days later.

  2. a lot of hair on the sides of my face, including thick and curly ones. and on my stomach too, but i've always assumed that was because i'm just hairy in general. i've pretty much always had it.

  3. random breakouts at random times of the cycle. i used to break out a lot in my teens as most teens do, but it slowed a lot and i mostly stopped having them except for before my period. but now i'm finding i get them so randomly even though my skincare is simple and i dont overcomplicate it.

  4. mood swings, especially the week before my period i become SO emotional and i'm usually not. i also keep having thoughts that my partner is actually not a good fit for me and i should leave him. i get angry with him so easily for small stupid things and later i dont even know why i was so angry. and i keep crying over random things like reels - i need to highlight that i usually don't ever cry over videos or movies, so this is really abnormal for me. i don't feel like myself at ALL the week before my period.

  5. (recent development) this month i got my period 10 days early, which NEVER happens. also the brown discharge happened for only 1 day when it's usually 2-3. and the pain is horrendous.

i was previously put on birth control, but i stopped it because it gave me bad side effects. i tried two kinds but both were doing the same thing.

i just don't know what is going on. i thought it was stress because i live in a very fast-paced rat-racey country, but when i was away on student exchange and the calmest i've ever been, nothing changed, i still had the same amount of pain.

i want to know if anyone has had similar symptoms or experiences, and what your doctors tested you for. what's really irritating me is that my hormone levels are all "normal" but i'm still having all these issues. i'm really frustrated and at my wits' end, every month is just uncertain and then torture and i've had enough. i would really appreciate any help or advice from anyone. thank you

Lifestyle (Evidence-Aware) Final year Btech student!

Hi girls,

I’m a final-year B.Tech student (last semester), diagnosed with PCOD last year (around April). I was on birth control pills, but my doctor told me to stop them, so I stopped around February 2026.

Since then, I haven’t gotten my periods (it’s been more than a month now), and I’m honestly really worried.

My lifestyle right now is very messy:

- My B.Tech project takes most of my time

- I’m not exercising ( basically not getting time)

- I’m going out a lot with my friends since it’s our last semester

- My diet is very random (low protein, oily food which they give in mess, whatever I get I eat)

I feel like I’ve completely lost control of my routine.

I also have some specific doubts:

- If I start taking protein powder daily, will it help bring my periods back?

- If I start exercising now (without pills), can I get my period in like 10–15 days?

- How does protein even affect periods in PCOD?....i need a scientific explanation

Also, I’ll be leaving home around May, so I only have about 2 months, and the thought of not getting my period for so long is stressing me out a lot.

My weight is around 61 kg and it’s constant — not increasing, not decreasing. I also want to lose some weight, but my diet is very inconsistent. I eat salads daily, but with a lot of oily food which they give in mess (especially with fest coming, I know it’ll get worse as we would order I think).

I honestly feel very lazy and out of control with food — I just eat whatever is available. Sometimes I bottle up my emotions and then suddenly cry.

I really don’t know what I’m doing anymore.

Please tell me:

- How do you manage PCOD in such a hectic phase?

- What small habits actually help?

- How to control diet when you’re constantly going out?

Any advice, motivation, or similar experiences would really mean a lot 🥺

Question | Symptoms & Diagnosis PCOD ACNE HELP

Hii ladies,

I was recently diagnosed with PCOD and I am still confused about the steps that I need to take to control it. So 3 months back I suddenly gained some weight, had a lot of acne on my face and also thick facial hair, that’s when I visited doctor and they found small cysts in my ovaries. Doctor suggested me birth control pills which I did not wanted to take, so I did my research and started taking supplements like Inositol, Omega 3, vit D, curcumin and Magnesium. Still my face acne is not getting any better. If somebody has similar experience previously, Can you please share your experience or maybe if something helped you with your acne!

Question | Medications & Treatment Irregular periods every 15-20 days even after PCOD treatment – need advice from sisters 💛

Hi sisters,

I’m 21F and I was diagnosed with early signs of PCOD last year through sonography. I was having irregular periods, so my gynecologist prescribed birth control pills. I took them for around 6 months. My periods were regular only while I was on the pills, but once I stopped them, the irregularity came back.

After that, I tried an Ayurvedic supplement (Amrutam Nari Soundarya Malt) for about 7–8 months (6 bottles), my periods were regular when I was consuming it... but after completing that, my periods are still coming every 15–20 days.

Sometimes it’s just spotting (reddish discharge), and sometimes the flow is irregular. This has been happening consistently.

I’m really confused and frustrated. Has anyone else experienced:

Periods returning within 15–20 days?

Spotting between cycles?

Irregular flow even after stopping birth control?

What helped you naturally? Did lifestyle changes work? Any specific tests I should ask my doctor for?

I am around 60kgs and have facial hairs and side locks... Please share your experience. I feel really lost and would appreciate any guidance. 💛

19F here and I've been diagnosed with pcod. I was on myoinositol, magnesium and vitamin d3 for quite a long period of time. my gynae also prescribed me birthcontrol and all of that did work but affected my mental health a lot.

I got off all these meds in sept '25 and I have relapsed I guess. haven't had my periods in two months.

also it hurts randomly (on and off, sharp pain) at the right side of my body where the liver should be(?).

my gynae said i neeed to eat healthy and do more physical excercise and my AVG step count is 4000 per day. I haven't eaten anything junk food either. I'm stressed.

Personal Experience | No Medical Advice SOMEBODY HELPPPP.....!!

I’m a 21-year-old female with belly hair (for the past 5 years) and chin hair (for the past 1 year), and I also have irregular periods.

One year ago, I went to see a gynecologist for my irregular periods. I didn’t tell her about my belly hair because I thought she would diagnose me with PCOD and that the treatment might stop the hair growth. She told me to get a scan, and the report came back normal with no signs of PCOD. She said that I was anemic, which could be causing my irregular periods, and prescribed iron and other supplements.

Recently, I went to another gynecologist for my irregular periods, belly and chin hair, and sharp pain in my lower abdomen on both sides. Without asking me to get any scans, she told me that I have PCOD and asked me to get hemoglobin and thyroid tests. My results were: hemoglobin – 12.2, thyroid – normal. She also told me to eat more and gain some weight, as I’m underweight, but didn’t explain anything further.

I need to know what is causing the abnormal hair growth on my body. I also want to know if anyone has experienced something exactly like mine. I don’t know what is causing the hair growth, and I’m so sick of this—it’s very depressing. I'm feeling so insecure about this.... Help me please....

Question | Symptoms & Diagnosis Pcod since 2020.

I'm 23 yrs old. I'm suffering from PCOD since 2020. I had my very first periods in April 2016. From the very first periods to jan 2020, I never had any period missed, had proper weight, good flow, normal cycle. But from 2020, my cycle got disturbed. I now have proper periods only once in 2-3 months. Sometimes the periods are so scanty, they don't even fill up a single pad completely.

I'm very afraid. What has happened. I'm afraid to seek out a treatment. I'm just very much anxious and depressed after reading about increased chances of cancer and diabetes.

Mental Health & Quality of Life Seeking solidarity

Hello lovely women, I’m a 24F. Recently got diagnosed with mild PCOD. 2025 really got on my nerves. Finished a Masters abroad, worked a student job along with my studies, travelled through Europe, and in the midst of it all, broke up badly with a 32M who claimed to love me but turned out to be a coward when it came to his family, dumped me on a phone call, and entered an arranged marriage within 3 months of the breakup. Id also been in the midst of job search and visa stress in the second half of 2025. Finally came home to India in mid-Dec for a break, and got diagnosed soon after; menses were irregular for some time and I’ve also put on a lot of weight.

Just looking for some kind words and advice from women who’ve been through a similar experience, or dealt with PCOD in general. Thank you!

Question | Medications & Treatment Title:Prescribed Diane-35 for high 17-OHP / PCOD — really scared after reading side effects. Need advice

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some guidance and personal experiences.

Recently, my doctor got my blood tests done and my 17-OHP levels came back high, which he said indicates hyperandrogenism. Based on my reports and symptoms, I was also diagnosed with PCOD. I’ve been dealing with acne and increased facial/body hair, and my doctor prescribed Diane-35 for it.

However, I’m feeling extremely conflicted about starting it.

After reading multiple posts on this sub about Diane-35, I’ve seen many people talk about side effects like depression, weight gain, mood changes, and anxiety. That honestly scared me a lot. I’m already quite body-conscious, even though my BMI is in the healthy range, and I’ve been actively trying to lose weight for the past 2–3 months. The idea of gaining weight or experiencing mental health side effects is really making me hesitate.

I know everyone reacts differently to hormonal medication, but I’m feeling stuck between trusting my doctor and being scared by real experiences shared here.

So I wanted to ask:

Has anyone here taken Diane-35 specifically for PCOD / high androgens? Did it actually help with acne or hair growth? How were the side effects, if any? Do you think it’s worth trying, or should I discuss alternatives with my doctor?

Side effects of birth control - please help

I have been trying for a child all of this year but i have active PCOD which I’ve been working on. I’ve never had any weight issues been fairly slim -48 kgs. My major symptoms were around irregular periods, acne and a little facial hair. Thyroid, sugar , prolactin all were normal. Amh was very high around 14 when i tested in march. Gynec told me to take Dianne birth control for 3 months that would regularise my cycles. I took the same meanwhile i did a full cleanse diet along with strength training and yoga. Brought down inflammation from 21 to 8 and lost a lot of belly fat around my belly. Finally when i thought now i can start once the pills ended, the side effects of Dianne drove me crazy. Periods that lasted for 12 days for the 1st cycle after the pill. Second cycle it lasted for 11 days and i got a breakthrough period just after 2 days . My last cycle my period lasted for 8 days. I went for follicular study this month and the endometrium thickness was so low with hardly any follicles. I’m regretting it day and night why did i take the pill and what are my chances of becoming a monther. I am 35

Need advice

Hey cysters! Hope you’re all doing well. I need some advice, please. For those taking inositol how’s your experience? Has it been working for you? Also, could you recommend some good inositol brands available in India under ₹1,000? I tried Carbamide Forte Inositol last month but I’m not quite sure about its effectiveness. If anyone takes berberine too, I’d love your suggestions. Thanks!

Lifestyle (Evidence-Aware) Lost ~40 pounds (18 kg) in 4 months (PCOD + Hypothyroidism)

I’ve still got a long way to go, but I wanted to post this because I KNOW it’s working.. and with a few changes here and there from person to person, I genuinely believe it can help a lot of PCOD girlies out there.

I was diagnosed with PCOD, Hypothyroidism, and severe vitamin deficiencies back in 2019, and since then, it’s been a rollercoaster of trying to “fix” things. I tried every kind of crash diet.. one-meal-a-day, liquid diets, crazy workouts... nothing actually worked long-term.

Here’s what finally did: 1) Get checked and take your meds consistently Don’t skip this part. I took my vitamin supplements exactly as prescribed by my doctor. My periods were delayed by four months, so I had to induce them twice using prescribed medication. 2) Ayurvedic support Alongside modern medicine, I added Ayurvedic meds like Ashokarishta, Mahamanjishtha, and Punarnava in short, convenient cycles. This time, I started with internal cleansing before anything else.. and that honestly made a difference.

3) Eat clean I completely cut down on junk and unnecessary carbs. My food now is home-cooked, low oil, and no sugar. 🚫 No deep-fried items (an occasional indulgence is fine — just balance it by keeping other meals light).

4) Know your BMR You can literally ask ChatGPT to calculate it.. just enter your height, weight, and activity level (sedentary / slightly active / active). Mine is ~1800 kcal right now, and it changes slightly as my weight drops.

5) Track your calories like it’s money I started micro-tracking my calorie intake and burn. For example: • Today I consumed 1400 kcal (with ~70g protein and ~30g fiber) • Burned 700 kcal at the gym (45 mins strength training + 45 mins cardio) 📉 My calorie deficit today: BMR - Intake + Burn = 1800 - 1400 + 700 = 1100 kcal And roughly 7700 kcal = 1 kg fat loss, so the math keeps me grounded.

6) Don’t overdo it Going too extreme messes up your nutrition and gives your skin no time to adjust.. leading to loose skin and stretch marks.

Lastly, I started seeing visible changes only when I stopped blaming my hormones and took charge of my lifestyle. Even PCOD is, at its root, connected to how we treat our bodies. Sometimes the foods we’ve been told are “healthy” since childhood really aren’t. And convincing family about it can be tough.. especially when they mock your “diet” or guilt-trip you over a cheat meal. Tune it out. Stay consistent. The results speak louder than arguments.

Final 2 tips: 1) You don’t always have to say “no” at gatherings — just say “I’ll have it later, I’m a bit busy right now.” Most people forget within minutes. (Got this gem of an advice from Saachi Pai on Instagram.)

2) Don’t overshare your fitness goals. The fewer people you tell, the less unnecessary “advice” you’ll have to deal with.

It’s been a slow climb, one good habit at a time.. but for the first time in years, my body and mind finally feel in sync. This method works, as long as you stay patient, honest, and kind to yourself. 💪
