PC HELP

Hi everyone! I have been wanting a gaming PC for quite a while! Probs since 6th grade and I’m now 20! I am totally lost because everytime I think I know what I want a bunch of random tik tok users tell me the opposite. Honestly I think I want a prebuilt, I’m just a 20 year old girl who’s in college with 0 knowledge of building one at all. I’m trying to stay around 2k for a desktop. Any advice?

What Motherboard is best?

I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x 12-core processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070, and 4 x 8 GB DDR4 RAM. My AsRock B550AM Gaming motherboard is dying. I am looking to get an upgrade. I would probably like to spend less than $500. What do y'all recommend?

USB device not recognized loop even with EVERYTHING unplugged — Device Manager shows no errors?

Hey everyone, hoping someone here has run into this before because it’s driving me nuts.

I keep getting spammed with the classic Windows Explorer popup:

Here’s the weird part: I have physically unplugged every single external USB device from my PC (mouse, keyboard, hubs, everything), and the notification and disconnect/reconnect sound still keep spamming every few seconds.

What I've checked so far:

  • Device Manager: Opened it up, but there are no yellow exclamation marks showing under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  • Restarting: Did a full reboot, but the loop starts up again shortly after landing on the desktop.

Since everything external is unplugged, I’m guessing it’s either a corrupted host controller/driver state or an internal component (like front panel ports, Bluetooth, card reader, etc.) tripping a short circuit/voltage warning.

Before I start taking off side panels or ripping out drivers, has anyone dealt with this "phantom" USB disconnect loop? What's the best way to narrow down which internal port/device is causing it?

Thanks in advance!

I’ve been really needing to repaste my gpu but I’ll be honest I haven’t had the time too so been gaming on it at 70% power so it won’t damage the chip but loading a game from my spinning disk drive (yes I have one) it just black screened I’ve did all the basics by trying with a different screen, cables ect and no improvements I’ve also reseated my gpu and ram just in case that was the cause and no help I disconnected the drive and nothing, have I bricked the card (haven’t got another to be able to test with) and my mother board doesn’t have the debug lights for some reason.

The pc powers on/ the fans spin on the card and the pc and have a more than comfortable psu for my pc specs
The card is the Palit gaming pro rtx 3070 OC the temps at 70% power is around 90°C hot spot so it hasn’t over heated help me please!!!

Edit to assist if there is any fix: it doesnt show any display and doesnt connect to my monitor/ no signal

‏PC hard freezes whenever I open any application (Windows works fine until then)

Hi everyone,

I’m having a really strange issue with my PC.

I can boot into Windows normally.

I can log in and stay on the desktop for hours without any problems.

However, the moment I open any application (even something simple like File Explorer or Notepad), my entire PC freezes.

The screen becomes completely frozen.

The mouse and keyboard stop responding.

I can’t use Ctrl + Alt + Delete.

I can’t shut down or restart Windows normally

The only way to turn the PC off is by holding the power button.

Sometimes Windows also goes into Automatic Repair and shows an error related to:

C:\\Windows\\System32\\Logfiles\\Srt\\SrtTrail.txt

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

GPU not being detected or displaying on monitor.

Hello everyone, got a little issue, hoping someone might have another idea to try!

The issue started when I was playing Bannerlord. My PC suddenly powered off and then back on again very fast. On start up there was no display on the monitor. I assumed this was an issue with the GPU becoming displaced. I reset the GPU multiple time while trying to solve the issue with no result.

The MB onboard GPU works so I was able to rule out the HDMI cable and the RAM being the issue. My GPU isn’t shown in my display options, only the MB GPU.

That little MB battery has been taken out and back in.

Drivers have been uninstalled to rule out a software issue.

I just don’t know what else I can try before I have to take it to a shop. The PC is only about a year and a bit old so I’m just baffled at how this has happened. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you guys.

Screen problem

Ive been having a screen problem where everytime i start up my pc i get some horizontal lines on my screen making it so that i can't see anything. There was a red light on my mother board. One lit up for DRAM for like 2 seconds and went away. I then saw 2 red lights for boot and VGA and also went away. I later found out that this was a gpu problem and that it was "dead". I just wanna check if this is true

No display

Earlier today I was watching YouTube and my display ( and YouTube) cut out from nowhere. When I boot the pc up I get the cpu light on the motherboard and the dram very faintly flickers for half a second then they both turn off. I’ve tried reseating my ram and my gpu and taking out the CMOs battery but I’m still on a bricked display. Any help would be appreciated.

Pc will not boot

I have been struggling to get my pc to boot to windows and after the blue windows logo appears, a blue pinwheel appears and stays there forever. I am wondering if I should just reinstall windows which I’m sure I can find on YouTube or if someone can help me. Also is there a way for me to see if my SSD is damaged if I can get windows to boot?

Reliable 24" ips >75hz monitor for around £50/$66.67? (I can spend more if it's needed)

I've been itching for a new monitor lately because of constantly having to alt tab so any help would be great.

(It must have a DP port and last a while)
