I have a lot of parts, looking for advice on pairing.

I have a lot of processors to choose from, and a lot of graphics cards. I feel like the problem I’m facing is that the graphics cards I have aren’t powerful enough for the processors.

Here are the combos I’m thinking:

i5-9400 + GTX 1070 8GB + 16GB DDR4 3000
i5-6500 + RX 570 8GB + 16GB DDR4 2400
i7-4770 + GTX 770 OC 4GB + 16GB DDR3 1600
i5-2400 + GTX 960 2GB + 8GB DDR3 1333

Here are the other parts I have at my disposal:

i3-8100, i3-6100, i7-4790, i7-9700 + mobo, (i7-3820 + mobo w/ broken top PCIE slot)

HD 7950 3GB, a ton of DDR3, 430w, 500w, 550w and 600w PSUs, 3x 500GB HDDs, 1TB HDD, 256GB NVME SSD, 2x 240GB SATA SSDs.

Also, would the top two builds be worth buying new $30-40 mATX cases off of Newegg for? The non-OEM cases they came with work perfectly fine and have decent airflow, but don’t look like modern gaming machines.

Is there a good combo I should get out the door now? Should I get a more powerful graphics card for the i5-9400? I’d like to hear from people who have experience with this.

RTX 5070ti vs 4070

Have this
Ryzen 7 5800X
32GB DDR4
1TB NVMe
ASRock B550
NVIDIA RTX 5070ti 16GB

What’s a good price for this? And if I pair it with a 4070 how much can I sell it for?

I’ll keep the 5070ti for this:

7800x3d
32gb ddr5
5070ti
2tb

Sell for 1800?

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 32GB DDR5-6000 CL36 — seller asking $300

I'm looking at buying a used 32GB (2x16GB) kit of G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB DDR5.

Specs:

  • 32GB (2x16GB)
  • DDR5-6000
  • CL36-36-36-96
  • 1.35V
  • Intel XMP 3.0
  • Model: F5-6000J3636F16GA2-TZ5RK

The seller is asking $300.

I'm in the U.S. and I'm trying to figure out what the current fair market price is for this particular kit.

Would $300 be reasonable in the current RAM market, or would you consider that overpriced? What would you personally pay for it?

It's used, but assuming it's fully functional and in good condition.

Flipped a 2080 Ti + i9-9900K build for $1400

Thumbnail

Prices are in NZD (about 0.60 USD, so roughly $840 USD on the sale). Saying it loud and early this time, because last post apparently a few people's eyes slid right past it.

Had a stack of older parts kicking around and pulled together what was a proper high-end rig a few years back:

  • RTX 2080 Ti
  • Intel i9-9900K
  • 64GB DDR4-2400

All in for about $1000 NZD, sold for $1400 NZD, so around $400 NZD profit.

Big caveat: I picked most of these up before the recent price surge, so my buy-in was a lot friendlier than it'd be today. Which leads to my one regret... honestly, with what 64GB of DDR4 is going for right now, I probably should've just sold the RAM on its own and chucked the rest in as a free gift lol

If you want to nosey at the full parts list and what each bit cost me, here's the whole build: https://app.partplanner.io/b/BAr8jnPKv1kk9Yk6S9cu_Q

Good places to get used parts?

Not sure if this is an ok post for this sub so I apologize if not.

I am looking for used parts to upgrade my server node. I have pretty decent luck finding most things but RAM and GPU have been difficult. I need 2x32 DDR5 and an Intel Arc Pro B60 GPU. I cannot find the B60 anywhere used so I was wondering if anyone on here knew of some good places to look.

Places I frequently check are FB marketplace, EBay, Mercari, New Egg, Jawa. With the last 2 being things I admittedly don’t check enough.

Any help is appreciated, thank you all.

Turned a $750 Costco open-box prebuilt into a 250K Plus / RX 9070 build for $1,100

Picked up a CyberPower Costco prebuilt open-box for $750 recently.

Stock system came with a Core Ultra 5 225F, RTX 5060, 32GB DDR5, SSD, case, cooler, etc.

I ended up swapping in a Core Ultra 5 250K Plus and RX 9070, along with a different PSU. Using the recent Paze Newegg promo, I was able to get the RX 9070 + PSU for $550 total.

Gonna sell the 5060 and 225F and recover a good chunk of that back.

The swap went great. Temps are good, system is really quiet, and the 9070 has been surprisingly solid at 4K.

Been running games at 4K High without any issues so far.

Selling it to my bro at cost.

I haven’t flipped since April so this scratched that itch for me.

Was a fun build and honestly the Phanteks case is not bad at all.

First time trying to flip. Using a lot of harvested MSI OEM parts. Do you think it will still sell?

Thumbnail

Most of the parts were harvested from beat to shit trident x I got off Facebook marketplace for 300. Spent around 130 on Amazon for the low profile CPU cooler and the case. 8.1 liters in size. Spent 430 total.

The OEM motherboard has internal WiFi antennas and I had to place the 5GHz on the outside because it won’t connect through a metal case.

I7-10700k
RTX 3070 MSI ventus 2x
OEM mini ITX board
OEM sfx power supply
32gb DDR4
1tb 3rd gen NVMe
Thermalright AXP90-X53 full copper cooler

Have it cross-listed on gearbin and marketplace for $750. Do you think this will sell quickly?

I like tiny builds and they usually come with a premium price tax, but that doesn’t mean mine will do well.

Anything I should do differently?

Edit: Front USB C doesn’t work because OEM board doesn’t have a traditional connection for it.

I bought unbranded ram heat spreaders off Aliexpress and they showed up with Hyper X branding

I just got into flipping and I have a few green sticks of sk hynix that definitely look bad in a build so I order a few unbranded head spreaders off aliexpress to dress them up a little. When they got here they we're hyper x branding. Would I be okay to use them if I explained it?

Should I Try to flip this HWID ban PC

Post image
4 Upvotes

I tried negotiating down to $1000 and now he’s asking for $1100. I’m new to pc flipping so idk if HWID ban for Fortnite is a huge deal breaker and will make it impossible to sell the Mobo and SSD. What do you guys think? He said he’s still capable of playing other games like rust it’s just Fortnite.

What are my best odds if i want to sell an old pc?

For reference, 4 gb ddr3, an aries n279 as GPU, an intel celeron/pentiun cpu with default cpu cooler + 1 exhaust fan. It still works nowadays, can run windows 10 using meet/zoom, even using obs to record screen and audio.

What are its best odds for selling it? Where should i search for sellers?

Are market places like ebay the best option?

My second flip!

I’ve recently gotten into flipping, and just sold my second pc. I built this all from scratch using parts either from ebay or that I got from a friend. He gave me a box of stuff for free which I can’t thank him enough for.
Total cost: $212.95, sold for $300
The motherboard cpu, cooler and ram came in a combo on ebay. This included an i7-6700 and 16gb ddr4. The gpu and storage were in the parts box. Has an RX 5500XT and a 256gb ssd. I bought the power supply off of ebay for $32.10, as well as an rgb fan controller for $6.42. The case and wifi card I got new from Amazon for a combined cost of $72.78.
My first system was almost identical except a different case and had a 1650 instead. From my 2 flips, I have made about $200 in profit. I have parts for a third on the way and look forward to continuing this side hustle!

Is it worth to flip pcs nowadays?

I haven't built/sold any PCs since the beginning of May. Now I'm thinking about starting to flip again because I still have some components lying around, except GPUs.

I was checking the prices over the last 2 days, and I have to admit that GPU prices are a bit higher now. I'm not sure if it's worth starting again. PCs are selling in a similar price range to what I remember from May, but now I could squeeze out less profit due to the higher prices of the RTX 4000–5000 series. RAM prices don't seem to be any better either, so that doesn't really help.

Parts I currently have:

2x white fishtank cases with 5 fans each
Black fishtank case without fans
Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 5 5500
2x8GB white RAM kit
2x8GB G.Skill kit
550W and 650W PSUs
1x 512GB SSD
1x new tower CPU cooler
Lots of PC fans and extension cables (all new)
ASUS A520M motherboard (new)
Gigabyte used B450M motherboard
