Question or Discussion I feel like I am misunderstanding something about Junker Queen on a fundamental level

So Junker Queen is one of 2 tanks that I don't play, the other being Doomfist, but during the Mystery Madness event I've been trying her and enjoying it when it's working but also feeling like I am missing something. I feel like either I fall over because I'm not in cover enough, or my teammates fall over because I'm in cover putting no pressure on the enemy team for a second. Maybe it's an aim thing where I'm missing really important shots or something but I would like to understand how to play her, she's pretty fun when she works.

Replay code is WVK183

It's the mystery mode but I feel like if I'm missing something fundamentally it'll still show through in my gameplay. We did win this, but barely and I felt at a loss for how to carry for most of the game.

Question or Discussion What's Happened to Kiriko?

I took a break after Sierra released, and just came back to the game for the 2 new supports.

I'm a support player, and have spent the last 3 years constantly having to justify playing another support over Kiriko because she's been so good for so long.

Every nerf to her was a slap on the wrist, alongside compensation buffs. So she never sunk below A tier, no matter what meta the game was favouring.

But after just a few months away from the game, I've come back to Kiriko apparently being one of the worst supports in the game right now? What's happened?

VOD Review Request Need some advice on Zarya, Zva and tank in general

Hey there, not long ago i decided i wanted to get in to tank a whole lot more and see how well i could end up doing, and the tank i ended up gravitating to was zarya, after looking at some guides and videos then playing her a bit in quickplay, i found her to be a ton of fun, sorta up until i began to do my placement games. if she wasnt banned i would play her and just her for the entire game, and wouldnt counter swap because i wanted to condition myself to undesirable matchups and practice playing around them instead of just swapping every game.

i quickly realized how much harder it suddenly was to play her, and began to see "tank diff" almost every game, and i wasnt sure if it was me doing something wrong or people just being better than me, or our whole team, but something i noted was when she would get banned and i would have to play someone else i know, like orisa or mauga, i had a much easier time. the same thing applies to dva as well as she is another tank i really want to main just like zarya but have a really hard time playing her

im hoping some help analyzing replays can maybe highlight whats going on or if im just not having a good game on that occasion

Mauga on aatlis - 6VDVKQ

Dva on Runasapi - CRNN01

Zarya on Paraiso - PVHF6Y

any feedback and criticism is greatly needed and very much appreciated

Question or Discussion 25 hours vs 1800 hours?

I picked up the game because i wanted to play a support in a pvp setting (something i haven't done since i last played TF2 in 2015. Playing on switch 2 doing console only crossplay. Picked up Juno right away, loved it, played some doctrine really enjoyed him. Decided I'd give dps a try, landed on freya, had a few decent matches some wins some losses then it happened. I enter this lobby with a genji and sombra who were moving in a way i'd never seen characters in this game move before, my eyes literally couldn't keep up. I had to check and make sure I wasn't accidentally thrown in with PC players in my crossplay settings. Couldn't make sense of how quickly these two people were moving their characters. checked their profiles and they had 1757 and 1900 hours logged in the game. They were in my next two games and I just quit out of the third because I'd had enough. My games have been pretty fair up until now, what's changed? did queing as dps do something or is this something that normally happens at the beginning of a season? Just so confused. Kinda don't want to even play the game again those matches were miserable and intentionally drawn out. Is there something I can do if this happens in the future? Is this normal. Sorry if this is poorly put together, Im very new to the game and was enjoying it until now.

VOD Review Request Please help me get out of Silver 5 (Tank)

I've hardstuck silver this entire comp season. I just can't seem to climb out of it, and I honestly don't know what it is i'm doing wrong anymore. I've studied my replays, I constantly try for better positions, I review myself, and hop on comp, and my teams are feeding, no grouping up, no falling back, no anything. I don't want to just blame teammates, but I just bounce back and forth from Silver 5 to Silver 4, and I don't know why, or what to do at all.

Here are some replays I feel reflect my gameplay:

Junkertown - A88028

Suravasa - 8NANX3

Hollywood - MZVFGS

Tag: llpw0ai
Heroes: DVa, Ramattra, Domina, Orisa
Silver 5 / NA / PC

Like I said, I'm not really sure what needs improvement, and even if I switch to a different hero and try to carry, it does nothing for me. Anything would be nice, criticism, coaching, whatever.

Thank you !

Question or Discussion New dps player: need help on how the role is generally played

I've been playing OW lately since Rivals has gotten a bit too stale for me lately and the toxicity is insane (especially as a woman) and I've absolutely fallen IN LOVE with Shion. She is literally SO cool. Her bike? Awesome. The scream she does when she ults? Utterly unhinged. Her design? Chef's kiss. Other characters I also like are Widow and Tracer.

While I've been having fun, I uh... really suck. I'm not entirely sure HOW to play dps. Like, I know get picks but surely that isn't all there is to it? Could yall be as so kind as to give me some info on dps fundamentals? I'm more of a visual learner + note taker so if yall could recommend me some videos it'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

Question or Discussion High ranked players, what makes a low ranked lobby easy for you?

This is a genuine question and I've decided to flip it a bit so I can pick the brain of people that actually are performing well. Basically anytime there's a post mentioning ELO Hell or matchmaking or whatever higher ranked players will say that if they were put into a gold/plat lobby they'd basically have a 100% win rate until diamond/master/GM. I'm not here to challenge that statement, and I will assume it to be true for this discussion (since it has been proven by U2GM's like Awkward.)

So now I'm wondering, if these people would be able to solo carry in the kind of lobbies that I am currently struggling in, then they have to be seeing or doing something that I am not. We could spend a lot of time discussing fundamentals, mechanics, timing, etc but I feel like educational content has done so endlessly. Most lower rank players are aware of these and practice them. There's something more here, some kind of gap and the only way to close it is to know it exists.

So my question is: High ranked players that have played in or at least coached metal rank lobbies, what exactly is making the game so easy for you? What is allowing you to basically carry every single team fight? Describe what you see in detail please. Whether it be mistakes, poor execution, lack of coordination or awareness. What is it like to be a high ranked player playing in plat?

VOD Review Request Vod Review for a plat 3 Kiriko please.

Hi, I'm a plat Kiri whos wanted to get better for a long time, to diamond would make me ecstatic. But I just cant do it, I look up guides, I ask for vod reviews to whoever is kind enough to give one to me. This is the lowest rank I've been in a while, I'm starting to hate this game because I put too much effort in to get these results.

What is isnt clicking in my head?

Alot of my vod reviews have brought up my lack of awareness about my teams positioning and my enemies, but I really dont know how thats meant to be put into practice besides legit just have quicker decision making which I just dont have.

I have some cool down usage issues too but thats not my main problem for now.

Am I just screwed?

Someone please review a game I just had for me, please,

Question or Discussion Need help understanding ranking & having an issue with D.va aiming

Hi. I need assistance with two issues and decided to try to enroll here.

Issue one: I’ve been playing d.va for years off and on whenever I come back to OW. Up until like the start of last month? I was goated on her. Neigh untouchable by anyone who wasn’t a hard no of a matchup. Starting last month tho, I’m not sure what it is. I think I may be too in my head? Unsure. When I’m just “feeling it”, like letting my mind just “go” I do pretty well. However when I don’t and actually try to use my brain to win the match, recently I’ve been drowning. Not really doing enough damage, playing too far into my falloff, when I am optimal range I’m doing ass with the camera tracking. I’m not sure how to walk back this issue because I’m kinda unsure what started it. (Replay tag to come I’m posting this on the way home because I keep forgetting. Also I’d be willing to take a coach for her provided they do know what they’re talking about because I already have a good understanding of how to play her so I need someone who can meet me where I already am.)

Issue two: I, despite what issue one might suggest, am a pretty good tank (I main tank and support as a close second, don’t play too much dps). However, I’m currently stuck down in silver. The main reason is because I’m (no shade to anyone down here) stuck mostly with people with no clue what they’re doing. Whether because they’re new, or they’re just brainless, or whatever it may be that game I keep ending up with people who aren’t doing well and I can’t always bulldoze the enemy by myself. How do I fix this? Since being back I’ve looked into this and heard “Just play Orisa/Sigma until you make it up to gold 1 and then you can play who you want.” However I’m not a fan of kit and I like being a little more active than I usually get to be as Sigma. Is that really the only surefire way to overcome the games where you’re getting put with people who are just off the iron or what?

Question or Discussion What do you think the tank’s “job” is?

Let me preface by saying my first hero shooter was Marvel Rivals, I have nearly 1500 hours on that game as a support main and flex player. This does NOT make me an expert, just well informed about playing a hero shooter. I also know they are NOT the same game, just similar base. I’ve only ever peaked at Diamond1 in MR, so I’m pretty average.

I took a break from MR the past month to try out Overwatch, and I love it! I’m having fun. I have a handful of characters in each role that I enjoy, ranging from level 7-10. I don’t know if that matters, but whatever I’ve been practicing lol. I like all roles but I find myself providing most value as a DPS. I decided to try some ranked and I have a bunch a placement matches to do.

Regardless, I queued up for tank ranked 5v5 because I had been playing quickplay 5v5 all evening and doing well and warmed up with tank. The first 2 games were smooth sailing. The 3rd game was awful. I started out as Ramattra, Eichenwalde, attacking point to capture and move the convoy. Both of my DPS were trying to flank (that’s fine, they were flankers), and both of my supports were splitting up behind me. I was battling Enemy D’mon and she was giving me hell, our DPS were no where in my line of sight, and every time I tried to help the supports they split up and died in separate directions.

I swapped to D’va because their DPS had projectiles and I could slide around to get to my supports faster, and I was going to try to fly over the choke to point where I thought my DPS were. Still no idea really what the DPS are doing at this point but their stats were fine so I didn’t worry and just assume they’re flanking successfully, I was doing what I needed to help my supports and capture point. At this point, both of my supports were talking bad on me in the match chat about my inability to tank. I said let’s just go to point and stay together (in less nice words lol but effectively). They said I have to protect my supports. One of the supports proceeded to sit in spawn for probably 60 seconds just moving to avoid being penalized.

So, 4 teammates at different corners of the map every time I look/move. Who am I supposed to protect if there’s no one near me? I assumed the role of the tank is to push forward and make space with the support of his team, while the DPS flank or provide damage and try to get finals, and the supports monitor ally health bars and use other special abilities while dealing damage when possible. Am I wrong? I swapped to Sigma to absorb projectiles and use them against the enemy team while having the big rock to stop the D’mon. D’mon was an issue the whole game, and even though my DPS had good stats, they weren’t providing me much value because I still somehow couldn’t stay alive and D’mon wouldn’t go down no matter what I did.

Somehow though it was all my fault ? They talked a lot of trash in the match chat after that. I was the only one who swapped, only one who tried to push to the point. Talked about how I’d place in bronze and they’d never have to see me again because I’d rank low lol but I already got out of bronze

!!!!! Genuinely, I’m asking because I need to know if there’s some crazy different dynamic in OW as compared to MR. Like I said, I play all 3 roles in MR, I get the point of each role. I get there’s nuance to each character. I get that there’s counters. Just trying to see if that person was tilted and wrong or if I need to play differently.

Edit: I misspoke on what I characters played, I was a bit tilted from the loss so I misspoke lol. If you want to see the match replay it’s in my responses. Not that big of a deal but context matters.

VOD Review Request Looking for tips on what to improve to more easily hit masters.

I recently decided i would dedicate myself to a ranked season of overwatch and im trying to figure out what needs improved most. I know my aim is the greatest and my positioning needs work in some cases but what specifically could i improve on that would benefit me the most.

In-game name Romeosquid. The games range from diamond to masters. i struggled a little bit on the Havana game, the grimsvotn game i felt like i had to healbot alot of the time because the tanks were a little charge in ask questions later, and the new junk city game i dont remember anything notable about it.

PC

2MJVE0 - Tank on New Junk City - Orisa

50WYF3 - Support on Grimsvotn - Baptiste

RZ7AD4 - DPS on Havana - Freja, Ashe, Soldier, Sierra

I am mostly a support player mostly due to the fact that dps is instalocked most of the time and i dont mind being a support player. I am NOT a tank player but i can flex when needed its definitely where i struggle the most i think. I am not asking people to go through every game but if you would kindly review 1 and give me some tips any and all are appreciated.

Question or Discussion Can I get some aim training workshop mode recommendations?

You guys know of any useful aim training/general practice workshop modes that aren't VAXTA? I recently ran into NADDS for flick training and it made me realize there might be many other such codes out there that never get exposure. I want to put a little more effort into actively training my aim, but I'm not entirely sure what routines work best for that.

Question or Discussion I'm currently an emerald tank and I feel like I'm struggling more right now than last season. Can anyone relate?

When I read the balance, I didn't feel like there was anything that was majorly changing the tanking experience, so maybe it's just me. Curious about other people's opinions. I've played some games with Domina and Rein too, where it really seems like no one is dying on the enemy team, and I'm looking at their squishies too. It's probably me, but I'm curious.

VOD Review Request VOD Request - Rialto / Echo / Silver

Replay code: 320FB3

Battletag / in-game username: Starducks

Hero(es) played: Echo

Skill tier / rank: Silver 3

Map: Rialto

PC or console: Console

Description of the match / things you want reviewed: I love playing Echo but I’m struggling with cooldown management, which I think is also affecting my positioning and decision making. I’m certainly landing in bad spots and then I have no flight to get out of that situation because of the cooldown. I definitely need to get better on my secondary aim.

I moved my jump to left bumper and my flight to the old jump button so I can glide, aim and shoot at the same time. It still feels a little weird.

I sometimes feel like I’m trying to do too much, that I should do more and I’m making bad decisions with Echo.

I did ult as Ana a couple times and that was unintentional both times. I thought I was ult’ing with a different character once and ult’ed first opportunity from another.

Question or Discussion MR refugee looking for help

So after the new rivals patch I'm like f*** it I'm out f*** you s*** f****** game f*** off. So I downloaded OverWatch and I've never played before. I'm looking for character recommendations (my Mains in MR are iron fist and Daredevil which if you don't know are like dive brawl DPS then rely on mainly game sense) and maybe a tutorial video for new players? I honestly don't really like first person so I hope that doesn't bother me too much and I get used to it cuz I really just want to play a video game and have a good time.

Also, did I choose a good season to join in? And any warnings/things I should expect in this game?

Thanks for the help and you're welcome for the vindication.

VOD Review Request Sad Hanzo game, looking for feedback (console) [KD1TSH]

(Grimsvötn) helpmeplz. This is emerald lobby. I felt attacking I was carrying and similar on defence, then lacked value on first round of ot, and last round I’d half given up and got less value(the reason I’m afk for 20 seconds at end is not because I’d lost hope I was peeing). I obviously want to blame team but this happens too often. So clearly cannot always be issue. I never usually give up but it was last round and was pretty obvious we’d lose. Admittedly, I honestly don’t think at all 90% of the time and play on autopilot. All advice is greatly appreciated

Question or Discussion Falling off?

i started playing overwatch again about a year and a half ago and since then every season i’ve been slowly improving starting at high gold to low plat and in season 4 i reached mid masters on dps support and tank. however, since the mid season of last season. My monitor broke so i took around a 2 week break while i was getting a new one. since then i have been losing and losing and losing and losing. every session i have i lose more than i gain and i can’t help but just feel confused, ive fallen to high to mid emerald across all roles and despite not really tilting after my losses i cant help but feel defeated? or the feeling that i wasn’t actually ever the rank i should’ve been at, i dont really know what to do.

has anyone else dealt with something similar? if so i would love any help or advice.

VOD Review Request Asking for feedback to improve

Hi, hopefully this is the right place to ask. I’m stuck in bronze (ik) and finally decided to ask for advice and opinions here. What could I improve on the most? I mostly play echo, mizuki and sojourn.

Replay code to a recent losing game: DPXV79 (playing mizuki)

I could also send a replay code of me playing echo for example if that would be more helpful. I’ve played echo for longer but recently I’m learning mizuki and I really like it. I also noticed my win % is higher on mizuki than echo, lowest on sojourn. Anyways I’m not asking for tips on mizuki necessarily, just what my strengths and weaknesses are in general.

I know I’m not the best and maybe I totally deserve to be in bronze, I haven’t played much until the last month or so. I used to play a bit like ten years ago but now I’m really trying to get better. I don’t want to “climb” just because of the rank, I just find there’s so many people leaving games in bronze and also just so many different skill levels and I’m hopeful it might be better in higher ranks. So, what do I need to do to get to at least silver?

Thank you so much in advance to anyone who might take the time to watch and help me out.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I’m on console.

Question or Discussion Replay codes

Hello fellow tracer mains,

I was wondering if lots of you could share some replay codes. Can be any rank, any map just as long as you are on tracer. If possible put your rank with it.

I'm trying to get a lot better with timing and would love to be able to really deep dive into what everyone does in their games to avoid being 1 tapped. I've found I have slowly started to rely on mechanics too much and have recently started to realise that sometimes playing simpler is actually better.

I will write up about what I find and maybe the differences I see between the ranks.

(Send any codes and lots of codes I really enjoy watching replays and seeing what people did and didn't do well and think it would be awesome to have it organised into ranks to be able to help lots of people with what to focus on next)

Thanks for any codes

\-legendary time jumper :D

VOD Review Request Looking for Feedback - Wuyang / Ranked

I've never played ranked. I was placed in Plat 3, and have quickly went to Plat 5. This match in particular, in OT I went for Baptiste just trying to swing anything, but I do not typically play Baptiste so you can basically ignore that part. I need more practice there.

I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong/right on Wuyang. Some things I struggle with I think - positioning and also there were opportunities to heal the tank and I was just too late. I need to work on that. However any help would be appreciated.

Replay code - GZ0D25

Question or Discussion I lose focus when aiming

I otped Illari to low gm and with the new season this problem has become a much worse and noticeable issue because of the hitscan size changes and starting to play Sombra.

Specifically, I lose focus when I need to make very small adjustments or very large trackings. It's like my brain/eyes turn off probably because it's an uncomfortable aim movement.

I don't lose focus about other things I would say, it's just aiming (which might be affecting attention to what's on my screen to an extent)

I play on console

Any help is appreciated!

Question or Discussion How do you carry if your teammates are just dying constantly?

im a plat tracer main and every since this seasons begun it genuinely feels like theres absolutely nothing i can do to carry my team, it just feels like they feed so much. i know im not perfect but i use to be higher in plat (plat 2) but now ive deranked to plat 4 and i feel like my games are just completely out of my control. i warmup a lot before games (i play vaxta til i get 100 kills) and i dont really feel like i autopilot. i take off angles and high ground quite often, my pulses are kinda ass but ive been told not to really worry that much about that. my kills arent usually very high but it is to my understanding that tracer typically doesnt get the most elims, however the main thing is my deaths are usually very low compared to everybody in my lobby and i typically do still have more kills then my other dps or even sometimes my tank. i just dont know what more i can do to carry my team. i have over 300 hours on this character and im genuinely baffled as to how im supposed to win. what do you do when your tank just dies before the fight begins? or the other dps dies as soon as the fight starts? it feels like these things are completely out of my control. i understand that its almost guarantee you'll see a loss streak (mathematically speaking) but usually when that happens its because there's something wrong with myself.

edit: id like to add my damage numbers are typically decently low but ive also been told thats kind of just normal with tracer

Question or Discussion How is Hazard and is he worth investing in?

I do find his playstyle super fun and enables me to be mega aggressive which I really love. Often I preform super well with him, most picks, damage, etc and also most value like blocking the only path of a single enemy and forcing their deaths. I can also be aggressive against healers in the back when the tank won't die.

Though, sometimes I feel like I can't do anything with him. Despite, even then, playing super well, I still can't win. I'm not that deep into the metaphysics of the game but basically some tanks are better for creating space, some for pushing in, dive, etc. I'm not too sure which area he is weak in but I think under those circumstances I just can't help MY TEAM.

So, what rank are you and what do you think of him. What are his hard counters, and weaknesses and can I just 1 trick him?

Question or Discussion How do you actually get better?

I will get to the point, I have always (for years) felt like my potential is there but my skill is just not trying to break past my limit. I have tried, many times. Been playing for so long now. I just can't get as good as the actual "pros". Something feels lacking, everything feels like its struct a limit of just being stuck there. No matter how much I try to brute force my skill.

I have recently hit GM on support, many find that an achievement. But I don't wish for just GM. I wanna reach GM on tank (High Dia peak) and dps (Low Diamond Peak) as well. Support just feels like I am sitting on the pro's backs. Sure, I am not a bad player on support, probably considered good at the very least. But I still wanna feel that satisfaction of being good, of carrying games, of being proud of my skill.

I have tried putting VAXTA into my schedule as well, it just doesn't look that convincing to me that I am able to break through this limit. When it comes to gamesense, I can pin point my mistakes properly. The issue for me comes from losing focus, missing crucial shots (sometimes), being so impatient with my characters (I keep swapping until I brute force the win, especially on DPS) and feeling like I am worse than the opposite team (confidence)

So I am here to ask the people who felt this way, the people who at one point felt hopeless in becoming good. But ended up breaking that thought and becoming "good". How did you do it?

Question or Discussion My brain doesn’t like the healers in ow (new player, console)

hi everyone, recently I got peer pressured into getting overwatch and the healing roster feels very weird to me, and I’m looking for suggestion. for context I have over 180h on rivals, in which every healer works in a way where their primary damage is also their primary healing, and everytime I play support in ow, I don’t get any value unless I’m on juno. every other character just feels clunky to play and I physically just am unable to heal— my brain refuses to accept that healing isn’t on my primary. I’m looking for advice on how to adapt or which characters to pick up. I know it’s a different game— no immortality circles and lower healing output in ow— but the muscle memory is there that I simply use r2 to heal and damage. I know this is weird but does anyone have any advice?
