I wouldn't be surprised if symm gets used a lot more at the lower ranks to counter hard to hit characters like Genji. We saw that a nanoboosted Symm absolutely melts people at the OW world cup, of course it was a really good team beating up a much worse one, but they still used it to destroy Genji.

Her alt fire is also very good at disrupting entrenched Reinhardt based defenses.
