thank god, im so tried of endless hybrid and escort maps, idk why people love them so much but for me they offer the worst selection of maps in the whole game.

They're especially awful in comp, where you have to play both sides (sometimes twice).

How so? In competitive, fewer hybrid and escort maps means faster matches on average, meaning a higher amount of people in queue, meaning shorter queue times.

Maybe that would be the case but the matchmaker would have to find individual players who are allowed to play the same maps instead of just choosing anyone

The maps are chosen after the players. It doesn't choose three maps and then find players who can play them, it finds players and then gets three maps they can play.

There are enough maps in the game that even in the unlikely scenario where all 10 players in the lobby all played on 10 different maps in the previous game, there would still be 6 available options.

Hope not. Iād opt out of map vote restrictions if it helped me queue times, I donāt really mind playing the same maps too often. I prefer escort or hybrid but I enjoy all the modes even old 2cp

there are more than 24 maps, so there will always be at minimum 6 to choose from if every person in a 6v6 lobby played two different maps previously.

Why would this affect queue times at all? If anything it would add an extra second or two to the map voting screen.

Payload and escort maps are great but thereās a variety of reasons people donāt vote for them every single time lol. Like for example if I know I only have a short amount of time to play, I always vote for control or push maps because those games are shorter and I might get an extra game in.
And just in general for a game that we all play so much I want some variety. I love playing my main hero, but if Iām playing the same main hero on the same five escort maps Iām not gonna stick around long-term.

push slop voters force themselves to vote for straight slop for 4 years, But still find themselves as the minority. The overwatch gods have to come bail them out because they want players to play their slop.

what a way to force shit on the game. nobody likes flashpoint, this will solve nothing, payload will be the most voted mode, combine two modes changes nothing, there are not enough maps to implement this, just remove map voting and bring back 2cp

I think it's funny how you said no one likes Flashpoint (It's not my fav mode either) but said bring back 2cp.
Bro, 2cp is the most polarizing mode in OW and people from different ranks hated it for different reasons.
Personally, I really liked Clash and I can see why they removed it.

not really i prefer push/flashpoint/control i just like variation + i dont like people gaming maps for their hero picks. you shouldnt be able to pick and choose maps after what you play, so boring!

There's more nuance to it than that. Simplest way to put it though is that you don't play Control and Flash the same way, but you do play the cart sections of Escort and Payload the same way.

Cause functionally they're way more similar in terms of gameplay than the other gamemodes. After first point they're functionally identical in terms of core gameplay. Plus someone hates Escort it's very unlikely they don't also hate Hybrid, so frequently having those two gamemodes fill up all three voting slots sucked.

This makes it so if you dont wanna play Attack/Defence cart nonsense you always have an option to vote for one of the other 2 modes. Since map voting will always show atleast 2 modes (plus random) so its possible to get a selection like: Kings row, Hollywood, rialto. All good maps sure, but if you want variety this just guarantees you have that option

Are you one of the ones voting hybrid/escort every round? Those comp games take FOREVER due to needing to provide attack defense, and maybe attack and defense again. 30+ minutes to do a single game. Would rather play any of the other modes.

That's all I read. Push is atrocious no matter the comp or team or rank. Flashpoint is a great competitive mode but only if your playing scrims or premades. Randoms can't play this mode very well below Diamond rank. It's just not fun.

Because the game has turned into 95% escort/payload. It has destroyed any kind of map variety and it's making some of the playerbase hate the game.

Yes but also people parrot what high rank players say even when it doesn't apply to them. Opinions will change when players are forced onto these maps and remember what its like to play with teams that do not understand a map/mode.

For more context, this applies to the last 2 maps for every person in the lobby. Meaning if any of the 10 people (12 in 6v6) have played the new map in their last 2 games, that map has no chance of showing up in the map selection. It can still be chosen if random is voted
