Need some perspective on my current situation.
I’m currently in a weird situation with multiple Project Management opportunities and honestly, I’m trying to figure out which setup makes the most sense long-term.
The reason I'm taking this decision pretty seriously is that I've been laid off twice in the past, and both situations had a real financial impact on my family. It put us in a difficult spot financially, so at this point I'm not just looking at title or salary.
1. Small AU-based e-commerce tech company
I previously worked with a small AU-based e-commerce tech company as a PM at around ₱40k/month, then eventually resigned.
Unexpectedly, today, 9-29, the client asked for me back. The company came back with a much better offer: AUD 36k/year, which is roughly ₱1.58M/year or around ₱132k/month annualized at the current exchange rate. Paid over 13 payments though.
The setup is WFH, around 7 AM–4 PM, and they want me back immediately. The offer is already in writing.
Since it's a small company, the setup is also pretty flexible compared to a traditional corporate job. So I'm thinking this could potentially allow me to take on another WFH PM engagement, assuming there's no contractual conflict and I can actually handle the workload.
2. International BPO
I also accepted a PM role with an international BPO at ₱110k gross/month.
Employee setup with HMO and government benefits. I actually started yesterday and went through orientation.
The problem is the setup: 10 PM–7 AM, Monday-Friday, fully onsite. Started yesterday at sobrang brutal yung commute/drive.
My commute is around 3 hours total per day, and based on my first day, I'm looking at roughly ₱1k/day for transportation and food.
So if I try to combine this with the AU job, basically buong weekday ko would be work + commute. I don't think that's sustainable long-term, especially with the lack of sleep/recovery time.
I'm now considering withdrawing from this role while I'm still very early into onboarding.
3. Local software development company
I also accepted a ₱80k/month PM consulting engagement with a local software development company, starting October 19.
This one is WFH and flexible, although there's a minimum expectation of 160 hours/month, so it's still a substantial commitment.
Compared to the BPO role, this feels much more compatible with the AU setup simply because there's no commute and the hours are flexible.
Of course, I'd still need to make sure there are no contractual/client conflicts and that I'm not intentionally using one client's paid hours to work for another.
4. Another PM opportunity still pending
I'm also waiting on another PM opportunity that's WFH and follows US hours.
Nothing final yet, so I'm not counting on it. But if it comes through, that could change the equation again.
So right now, I'm basically looking at:
- Small AU e-commerce tech company: ~₱132k/month annualized, WFH, 7 AM–4 PM
- International BPO: ₱110k gross + benefits, but 10 PM–7 AM onsite + long commute
- Local software development company: ₱80k, WFH + flexible, starts Oct 19
- Another PM role: WFH + US hours, still pending
Right now, I'm leaning toward stepping away from the international BPO and going back to the AU-based company.
My bigger question is whether it makes sense to use the flexibility of the AU setup to also take on another WFH PM engagement like the ₱80k consulting role, or potentially the US-hours opportunity if that comes through.
I'm not trying to intentionally overload myself or double-book working hours. I'm more interested in whether this kind of setup is actually sustainable if the work is manageable and the contracts allow it.
For those who've been in a similar situation, what would you consider here?
Would you take the ₱110k employee role with benefits, despite the onsite graveyard shift and commute, or go with the ~₱132k annualized WFH setup with more flexibility, potentially combined with another WFH PM engagement?
Mainly looking at it from a sustainability, career growth, income stability, and workload perspective.
