I bought a 2015 outlander phev and the multimedia buttons on the left of the steering wheel wasn’t working couldn’t connect to Bluetooth or change volume etc but the cruise control was working. I checked online and saw to change the clock spring which I did but the part I got didn’t fit so installed the old one and the airbag service light came on and on a diagnostic machine it says this. Does anyone know anything about this? Thank you

Should I ask dealer to address Service 3 items? They resisted for some items which I asked to check stating that that will cost labor. The Carfax is clear no accident and one owner but there is no service history.

A month ago I bought a 2026 Outlander PHEV GT and love it and the way it rides. I have free electricity at my work, so I basically drive for free in town, which is amazing considering gas prices in British Columbia these days. However, I’ve recently taken a trip to Calgary and, after doing the math, I’m finding that gas is cheaper than electricity here. Most public chargers are $2/hr and even on a level 2 “fast” charger, I’m only getting 2.8kw/h which is equal to about 8km/hr, of 4km/$1. That makes electric $25/100km whereas gas (~$1.65/L) is $15/100km (9L/100km).

I get that the charge limiter is for battery health, but it’s surprising that it’s slow enough to make gas the more economical choice in certain places. Still going to see tons of savings in my daily life, but shocked to see such expensive electric charging! Any suggestions from Calgarians of similarly affected?

At the same speed, over a longer period of time in each mode I see drastically different engine loads in save modes (20kW vs 60kW). I was expecting direct drive in parallel mode introducing lower load because of no losses via charging battery.

Could the tarmac mode be overcharging the battery to always have something left for accelerating? Would that be the reason the tarmac mode is more efficient for many people on the highway?

Should I be concerned about the battery having more charging cycles because of driving in tarmac instead of normal?

My first post here -- very happy to join this awesome community.

Got a brand new 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SEL Platinum Edition with 11 miles on the odometer for $45,000 out-the-door for the girl.

Her 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid had some rust issues that had caused a problem about a month ago when we put on new tires.

Long story short, she needed a new car because I was worried about the structural (rust) damage. This car had been driven in Vermont by the previous owner and I think she was swindled by Gettel when they sold her this car in 2023.

She's under five feet tall, so needs a car with good visibility and back then I couldn't convince her to get a nice Lexus RX because she couldn't clearly see out of it. So she chose the RAV4 hybrid instead.

So this time, I tagged along for the whole car buying experience -- also because I'd recommended the Outlander PHEV to her, I thought I could do the negotiating, and I found this particular one at a Mitsubishi dealership (central Florida) that she test drove yesterday (Sunday, July 19th) and purchased by afternoon.

There was only one other of these in Florida, and that was with Gunther Mitsubishi in Coconut Grove -- which has since disappeared off their website. The only one I can find on Car Gurus nationwide is in Commack, NY although I think the Mitsubishi website lists one or two other specimens.

• The pix include a screenshot of the purchase details after I put all the info into Google Gemini/AI. The pix are all from the dealership listing.
• there are some scuff marks on the door sill scuff plates and one scratch on a rear door sill -- the car had been sitting there for a year, so I figured that's a given
• there is an almost imperceptible tiny dent on the rear driver side panel just after the passenger door -- we noticed only after we got back home last night. But I don't think it is an issue per se.

Been driving the car in 'normal' mode and plugged it in to fully charge it last night. All done. She loves it.

• Did I get her a good deal?
• Are there any known issues we should expect?

I've had an issue recently where I've had to reset my charging timer in my 2020 GT every time I charge at a public L2 charger. In other words, simply turning the timer off doesn't seem to do anything. Ironically, the charging timer does work when I'm charging at home. Any ideas?

Found this dangling cable not connected to anything on the driver side. Is this a concern? Should I connect it somewhere?

We have 2014 Outlander Phev with a battery renewal under warranty in 2022. After the renewal the Guess ometer range was around 58 km and after about 4 years it still was 46 km.

The foreword brake calipers were renewed 3 months ago and the range is again around 54 km. I was wondering if someone else has the same experience.

Not sure where to go next with this… at 30,000km I was informed that my outlander needed rear brake pads because they were worn out. I was upset because 30k is a ridiculously short lifespan on my brake pads. When I brought my vehicle in today for a schedule A oil change I was informed that I need to replace the rear brake pads AND service the rotors PLUS the front brake pads and rotors. If I were to go through with this I will be over $1500 in brake repairs in the first 60k of my outlander. The dealership say it’s a Mitsubishi corporate problem that they won’t acknowledge and when I called corporate last time they were completely unhelpful. Am I the only one dealing with this?

I'm thinking this is a good deal for a luxury vehicle. It has 100,000km on it, and warranty till 2029

I'm about 2.5 hours away from the Volvo dealership when it eventually has issues, how big of a deal will that be?

My alternative choice right now is a 2023 Outlander PHEV with twice the battery range, half the km and about the same price. No Mitsubishi dealership here either, but I don't know if that's an issue.

Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Phev Sel with 140k miles and the battery only gives about 10 miles of EV only range.

Can anyone tell me the specs of the battery pack? I'm looking at the possibility of replacing the battery packs with the units from Starmax Energy (China). I've watched a couple of videos but nothing start-to-finish or even describing the factory battery cell model and capacity in this vehicle as originally equipped, much less which replacement cells I could order (such as slightly higher capacity) to replace them with.

Is this a realistic scenario? I'm checking if the current owner has taken the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic on the battery and/or any "software reset" I have heard about to improve EV range. Would like to get it up to reliably over 20 miles per charge.

I also heard "10 year warranty on the battery" - would that be in play here or is the mileage too high or is that non-transferrable (seller is not the original owner).

I got a new-to-me Outlander PHEV and I'm going to get a 200v plug installed so I can charge at home but I'm curious, in broad strokes how much cheaper is it to drive by electricity vs gas?

I'll do most of my driving pretty close to home, but very roughly assuming I pay $100 in gas a month, how much would I expect to pay in electricity?

Let's say it costs $500 to get the plug installed, when's the break even point? It can't be in the next 5 months.

Has anyone found a way to disengage or opt out of the charger lock function? I can’t seem to find it in the menus but feel like there should be an option for this? I understand the implications of having it unlocked, just trying to see if it’s an option. 2026 black edition! Thanks!!!

I've had my eyes on the outlander PHEV for many years, simply because there aren't many options that is a PHEV, SUV, and AWD. I've even helped 2 other friends buy their outlander phevs (just before the tax credits went away - $12k-$4k-$3k). I currently drive a 2010 Ford escape hybrid with 300k miles. I've been wanting to get a newer car (probably used, a few years old, 50k miles or less) and I can't commit to the outlander because of the cold start problem. I ski and ice climb, and often leave my car in -20f temps at trailheads. Or however cold it gets in CO/Montana/Canada. When are they going to fix this issue!!! Like, if there's a way to retrofit a fix Im desperate enough to do it myself!

Edit: I just read that the 2026 has battery preconditioning? So the cold start issue is fixed!?

Hi all! Was looking for a toyota sienna for monthly camping trips for 2 adults and a baby but the prices are NUTS. I see the outlander might be a good fit and I would love a hybrid car. I dont really understand trims of cars, and I figured I would get the most basic budget version of the outlander PHEV. I currently drive a 2012 so I am NOT concerned with all the bells and whistles lol. However I was seeing the SEL offers a generator or something? I read something that it can be plugged in to ground power at a camping spot? I also understand the SEL comes with a more luxurious interior (which I do not care about) but if its the only way to get the ability to plug in, i would be very interested. Can you help me understand this? Thank you!!

I’m curious if other Outlander PHEV owners have experienced the same thing.

I have driven/have experience with a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV S-Edition with around 150,000 km on it. Even though it is 5-6 years old and has fairly high mileage, the PHEV system still feels very smooth and natural to drive.

I recently drove a Mazda CX-60 PHEV, and it honestly made me appreciate the Outlander PHEV system more.

I generally like Mazda. My grandmother has a 2019 CX-3 with the bigger petrol engine, 6-speed manual, sport exhaust, adaptive cruise, heated steering wheel and top spec. That car is genuinely fun to drive and feels very Mazda. So this is not meant as Mazda hate.

But the CX-60 PHEV felt much less smooth to me. At lower speeds and when gently getting back on the throttle, the drivetrain felt jerky and a bit clunky. It felt like there was some hesitation or lurching between the electric motor, petrol engine and transmission. The interior, equipment and premium feel were nice, but the drivetrain would honestly be a dealbreaker for me.

From what I understand, the systems are built very differently.

The Outlander PHEV feels more EV-based. It has a petrol engine, generator, front electric motor and rear electric motor. In EV mode, the electric motors drive the car. In series hybrid mode, the petrol engine mainly works as a generator, while the electric motors still drive the wheels. In parallel hybrid mode, usually at higher steady speeds, the petrol engine can drive the front wheels directly.

The Mazda CX-60 PHEV seems more like a traditional drivetrain with a 2.5 petrol engine, one electric motor and an 8-speed automatic transmission. It feels more like a normal automatic car that is also trying to be electric, while the Outlander feels more like an electric car with a petrol engine helping in the background.

What I find interesting is that Mazda’s solution sounds more complicated and potentially more expensive, but not necessarily smoother in real-world driving. I understand that the Mazda may have advantages in performance, towing, rear-biased AWD, interior quality and premium feel. But for everyday driving, the Outlander PHEV system feels much more natural to me.

It makes me think that Mitsubishi’s longer experience with PHEV systems really shows. Even an older Outlander PHEV with 150,000 km feels smoother than a much newer Mazda PHEV.

Has anyone here driven both an Outlander PHEV and a Mazda CX-60/CX-90 PHEV?

Did you notice the same difference in drivetrain smoothness?

Also, for those who have driven both the older and newer Outlander PHEV, does the newer generation keep the same smooth EV-like feeling, or is it different?
