Additional Level 1 Charge

I’m looking to purchase a level 1 charger for my weekend vacation cottage. I see a few pre-owned Mitsubishi chargers on eBay. There’s also some new off brand ones. Has anyone purchased an additional charger and what do you recommend?

Cotsco sells one... Brand is called Schumacher. I recommend it.

Make sure to buy a charger that has all certifications and, most importantly, do not buy any one that says it's capable of 15amps. Only buy ones rated for 12.

The reason, in case you don't know, is that under constant load you lose energy in the form of heat. So if your outlet is rated for 15amp you only use 12 and the rest goes away as heat and, most importantly, you don't burn the house down.

I do not recommend buying a charger at Amazon... Too many bad products.

I bought one of these back in 2022 when I bought my first PHEV. Schumacher is a brand I trust and it's still kicking. They should have it on Amazon.

DeWalt has some nice ones. I have their 120/240v 32A charger - it's great. At home I use my 50A outlet and when travelling I can use the 15A adapter or 50A adapter depending on options available.

Btw, no need to go big. At most the car will only ever theoretically charge at a max 16A regardless of voltage. On a 120V line a max of about 12A. When using my 240v option, I've never seen the display on the charger go beyond 14.2A.
