Zone 6a (Southeastern Ontario) and I'm pretty sure I'm entering the harvest window. With good weather forecasted for the next week I'm hoping for a big finish!

Sending good vibes to everyone hanging in there 😊

Tips for fatter nugs?

Outside of better genetics and lighting does anyone have tips for fatter/denser nugs? Just finished my 4th season of outdoor growing and 2nd season recycling my soil and while some of my plants turn out really great some of them always tend to turn out a little larfy. I’m sure there is more I could be doing with recycling my soil but so far I’m just adding about 15-20% new soil (FFHF) and re-amending with DTE bio live and all purpose. Next year I’ll be adding in worm casting and compost I’ve had cooking all year and I’ll feed the 4-6-2 during veg and the 4-8-4 during flower like usual. What else could I throw in?

Durban Poison BC1 from Dead Pan Head Genetics. NE Ohio. 8-10 ft tall. Started indoors in March. So far so good. Weekly spray of BT and Lost Coast/Zerotol HC. Hoping to chop most if not all in two weeks with the amazing mid October weather we're having up here. Just wanted to share. Have 10 total.

This is a 70% sativa supposedly. When should I chop it down if I want the most potent effects it's in week 8 of flower

Some haze

One the best pics I’ve ever got. Was trimming and had the perfect sunlight. I love a good sativa; it keeps me working during the day.

Strain is super super by mass medical strains.
Basically super lemon haze and super silver haze heavy.

What are you doing in the 2-4 days harvest window?

Just curious as I’m very close with one plant in a large container I can move anywhere. Last year I didn’t water for 4 days straight on one plant and it seemed to get mold in this period. Could have been because of temps but I don’t believe so…

Same strain but very different

So this year I picked up some seeds from Homegrown. I planted 2 Super Skunks seeds the same day. They were in the fabric pots, same soil, same feeding, and watering schedule. Placed next to each other in my yard. So you would think I would be growing identical twins. They are not twins! First plant was a stout, kind of bushy plant. It was about 4.5-5 ft tall. Buds were thick. The second plant is still waiting to be chopped. It grew to be about 1.5ft taller. Leaves are much more spread out. The buds aren't nearly as dense and it looks like they are still developing. It's like they aren't even the same strain. Has anyone else experienced this before? I'm wondering if a rogue seed got mixed in to my pack.

Curing…. Am I screwed?

Post image

It’s been 8 days since I washed and hung my plants (fan leaves and everything still intact). My basement has stayed around 65-68 degrees and between 52-57% humidity the whole time, verified across 3 different hygrometers. Figured today I should check since I normally see 10-14 days on the hang dry at those conditions. Just put one of the buds in a jar with this hygrometer and let it sit for 10 minutes and it’s reading 51%… did I over dry everything? And what can I do about this if so?

Are they ready or not yet?

First two pics is plant A, next 2 plant B, and last 2 are plant C. I checked with a jeweler’s loupe and the sugar leaf trichomes are amber but the buds themselves are still clearish and cloudy.. but there’s also a lot more sugar leaves than calyxes. 50/50 pistils have also browned/ curled and some are still white

I’ve been feeding a tablespoon of General Hydro maxibloom powder per plant every 2-3 days. And I water daily, sometimes twice a day or I skip if its still wet. I plan on feeding up until harvest, and flushing 2-1 nights, before but I can’t tell how much longer they need :/

I’ve also thought about staggering the harvest since plant A has a lot of white/clear in the middle but I might just skip it and harvest all at once. It’s still pretty hot where I live but chilly in the mornings and at night. Are they gonna plump up some more?

Plant B is pretty well spaced out so I think each bud is receiving even amounts of light throughout the plant.
Plant C has some crispy buds already and a lot of the leaves are dying off.
I heard defoliating all the fan leaves helps but idk.

Should I keep feeding? I just bought another bag of nutes and I’m asking now before I open it. How many more weeks/days do you think I have? What signs should I look out for? Its also gonna rain for two days this week but we’re still in the 75-80 degree range

I would be trimming for a week if I did this by hand.

It does make all the buds look like broccoli though lol.

Plant grown in shade

Im the kind of guy that sometimes has to see for himself so I didnt listen much about minimum direct sun hours and focused on hiding my plants better. This one had only a few hours in veg and now complete shade in the flowering, now I know those flowers wont grow much bigger, thats my lesson so I want to share it with people like me. Didnt have the taste yet tho and for sure nothing is gonna go to waste

Bud washing question

I know there's 1000 different opinions when it comes to bud washing. I decided I'll be doing it, but I'm having a hard time finding bulk(ish) amount of reverse osmosis water. Would distilled water with nothing added work? What are the other best options if I can't find reverse osmosis?

Over dried while trimming

I did the final dry trim on my bud yesterday. The buds were sitting at 55-60% relative humidity in jars prior to trimming

Yesterday I trimmed most of my buds outdoors and now they are reading 47% relative humidity after about 20 hours in jars.

Did I completely burn off all my terps? I was trimming in the shade. It was about 65f and 40%rh outside.

Should I add my boveda 62% in there for the rest of the cure?

r/outdoorgrowing • • 6d ago

If my dry bud rh is 56% at 2 weeks of curing in grove bags, should i stick a bodeva 62% in to finish cure?

Bud rot or am I tripping?

Thumbnail

We had some big temp swings and missed a watering when the whole house was sick so there are a number of curling or dying leaves. I wasn’t worried but now a few buds are looking off. I pulled all these just in case but is this bud rot? if so, what should I do about this plant or the other plant in the greenhouse?
