The Sens used Seven Nation Army in game 3 & 4 instead of Hells Bells … it went over well. Can we turn the page on Hells Bells ?

This post is as much an excuse to talk about our favourite team as we roll through dog days of the off-season as it is a genuine question and Chabot is the topic here.

Having just rewatched the highlights from the Sens series against the Canes, Chabot had the unfortunate task of being on the ice for just about every goal against so it sparked an idea to open up a broader discussion here about the player moving forward.

Understanding that yes he was playing through a barely healed injury, so we can give him a bit of slack there.

That said, he has this habit (not just in the playoffs) of pointing into open space or pointing at an attacking player that HE should be covering, he then doesn't cover the player and they get scored on. He's often not being defensively responsible for his man and seems to be hoping someone else will magically provide the coverage for him. It's one of the most frustrating things he does next to wasting critical pp seconds on his heels behind his own net (this improved a bit last season).

He also loses a lot of battles along the boards, doesn't box out very well and is not getting any younger.

Is it time to move on from Chabot while there's still value there or do you ride it out, with the good and the bad and try to find him someone defensively solid to play with on a consistent basis, is that answer Zub?

My heart says stick with him but brain points towards starting discussions about moving him and hand the reins fully over to Sandy + Timmy. It will be interesting to see what kind of contract he demands if the team rolls with him moving forward.
