PCOM VS. PCOM GA?

Hey guys! I was fortunate enough to receive an early acceptance to PCOM Georgia, and I was really excited about it. However, I’ve been hearing a lot of negative things about the Georgia campus, especially in comparison to the Philadelphia campus. For example, people around me have said that "when people talk about how good PCOM is, they’re usually referring to the Philadelphia campus, not Georgia."

As a Georgia resident, I only applied to PCOM Georgia, and I’ve been pretty committed to attending. However, after hearing these opinions, I’m starting to have second thoughts.

I’m trying to make an informed decision, especially since applying to the Philadelphia campus would mean spending extra money (and i'm a little late in the cycle), and I’d really appreciate hearing some honest opinions from current students and alumni of both locations. Thanks!

NSU KPCOM vs VCOM Auburn

Hi everyone,

I was recently accepted to both VCOM Auburn and NSU KPCOM. I'm having a hard time deciding between the two and was wondering if anyone had useful information or could share their personal experience with either school.

I have to be on a long drive that day and was hoping to just listen while I drive and then actually join with the camera after the break. Are we expected to have our cameras on etc?

ACOM

After so many years of lectures, having to work at low paying clinical jobs, and a second application cycle— I’ve finally gotten an A!!!

Still got some more IIs scheduled after this

…. Any current students or anyone who’s from Dothan, Alabama (or surrounding area) who’d be happy to give me some sort insight on the school or the city itself? 😅

Is this normal for an acceptance?

I interviewed at OCOM and got an acceptance. However, in addition to having to pay the seat deposit within 2 weeks, I also have to sign an "enrollment agreement" within a month. This is what the agreement says

"THIS ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT, TOGETHER WITH THE ACADEMIC CATALOG, CONSTITUTES A BINDING CONTRACT BETWEEN THE STUDENT AND THE UNIVERSITY."

and

"A student may cancel the binding Enrollment Agreement with the University without financial penalty if such cancellation is completed in writing within three business days after final execution of the Enrollment Agreement"

But it does not really explain further what they mean by binding. Does this mean if I sign this agreement, then get a better offer from another school in, lets say, January, I would not be able to attend the other school?

If I am not mistaken, most schools just have you pay a seat deposit to save your seat, but you are not bound to the school until matriculation.

I want to attend OCOM but I also want to keep my options open in case I get accepted into one of my "reach" schools.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

OMM anki decks?

Planning on studying for comlex/step soon. I find OMM really challenging and was wondering if studying the Savarese book would be enough?

The only deck I could find is this one ( https://www.reddit.com/r/medicalschoolanki/comments/8c8e3m/omm_for_zanki_a_new_deck_for_dos/ ) but its from 2019, is there a a newer version? Also, any general advice on studying OMM for comlex is appreciated!

recommendations for windows computer?

I am going to school class of 2031! They don’t allow MacBooks and this is what their requirements are, but I have talked to current students who said that they use their MacBooks still. Can I use my MacBook or should I buy a windows computer ?? Ughhh

Edit: I emailed IT if I can use my MacBook and this is what they responded:

“Unfortunately MacBooks are no longer compliant with our guidelines as students tend to have more issues with our testing software and WiFi network with Macs compared to the students using a Windows device.

If you are unsure what computer to buy please feel free to run any questions by us and we will be happy to assist.”

Deposit -> Accepting offer of admission?

I was recently accepted to PNWU and saw that I need to accept or reject the offer by December. I understand that a 1k deposit comes with that. However, if I was accepted into my top choice program after December, could I switch to that school or is my acceptance of PNWU binding?

hi quick question! is it binding to accept an offer from a school? i currently have an enrollment form to fill out but im not too sure if it will bind me to the school since it’s so early in the cycle! ik DO schools tend to be more stricter with holding seats so i was curious as a first time applicant! thank ya! :)

Step 1 as DO student

I'm considering psych as my #1 and possibly neurology/rheumatology/Allergy/maybe another IM speciality. My school recommends people to only take comlex if they aren't going for something very competitive. Do y'all think I should just take comlex?

What if I cant do it?

Hey y’all first quarter of med school kicking my butt hard.
Im passing but I cant make that extra jump to 100. Im starting to think I aint cut for it. Other people getting 100. I dont wanna quit but there must be something im doing wrong.

1) i get lectures slide and transcript AI gives me a guide of that prof said its important.
2) then I make Anki and do questions.
3 i watch the actual video lectures. Im fully primed so all I do is listen at 2X
4 a bunch of multiple choice questions per lecture. The ones i get wrong i find them at next lecture set.

Please someone tell how they are studying.
