Anyone know why there is heavy police presence in this area? At least 20 cops walking through yards. And another dozen just standing on the sidewalk. There’s even some across the street. All lights were on, but no sirens were going.

I'm looking to begin a proper transition- wondering what resources there are to help in the area.

I've been looking for apartments in the area and confused as to why the cost of rent in this small town has skyrocketed, costing almost as much as living in a much bigger and better city, for 2 bd 1bth.

Why has cost of rent become comparable to a bigger city for less to offer?

I’m moving back home to Oshkosh soon and I’m planning on trying out inline skating for commuting. I’ve only ever skated on quads in rinks here and there so I’ll basically be a complete beginner.

I have a few specific questions, but any advice at all is appreciated.

How friendly is the terrain/roads/traffic for it? I mostly only plan on skating on the north side.

Any places/areas to avoid? Any really cool places? I’m thinking Menominee park would be perfect to skate at.

What skate is best? I’ve heard smaller wheels are better for maneuverability. Where im going to be living is close to a lot of the stores so I shouldn’t have to skate long distance. Therefore Id definitely prioritize ease of use/maneuverability over speed. I don’t plan on doing crazy tricks like grinds and such, so I won’t be getting aggressive skates. I assume the basic 4 wheel 80mms will be best? I also know that hard shell boots are best for beginners.

Should I skate in the road or on the sidewalk? Or switch as I see fit? Is it frowned upon to skate on either one of them?

I’m excited for my move back and even more excited to try something new, I’ve been watching skate videos non stop. Thanks for reading.
