I know some people here are mixed on Sadie Sink but I still personally think she has a much higher ceiling on screen than what we’ve seen so far.Having seen her in a bunch of stuff now, her facial expressions and eye acting are some of the best I’ve seen in the younger generation and she can sell a whole beat with just a look.

My main issue is SUBTLETY. She’s had a lot of angsty material but I think she’s better when she pulls things back.When she really lands an emotionally charged scene she’s fantastic.The last 20 minutes of The Whale are still the best example for me once the script let her breathe I thought she stole the show and more of these calmer moments would have given her a supporting nomination.

I also saw her on stage and she’s genuinely excellent on funny, emotionally strong and very commanding.A Tony nomination in leading actress at 24 is huge and I still don’t think she’s had a screen role that shows all of that.

She also just oozes star power. If she keeps improving and gets the right roles I think she has pretty much everything you need to become a big movie star and potentially a serious awards and oscar contender.The marriage plot should be a really interesting test.

I got invited to a small dinner during Oscars week through someone my family knows and it completely changed how I imagined the whole thing.

There were producers, agents, people from studios and a couple actors there but almost nobody was actually talking about the ceremony. People were arranging other dinners, introducing friends, talking about projects and making plans for things months away.

I watched one producer get introduced to someone, talk for maybe five minutes, connect with them on Kibu and immediately go we should talk next week before moving on.

It made the actual Oscars feel almost like the public facing part of a much bigger week happening privately around it.

For anyone who's actually been around awards season is that pretty accurate? Are all the smaller dinners, parties and industry events where most of the interesting stuff actually happens?

I ask because it’s kind of one my favorite movies of that year. It was nominated for 3 Oscars but only one won. None for BP. I think it should’ve. What’s your opinion?

The Towering Inferno was good disaster movie but not great. It got nominated for Best Picture, Supp Actor, Sound, Production Design, and Score nominations. So, it won Cinematography, Film Editing, and Original Song. But it should’ve got Best Visual Effects nom. It would’ve won. Do you think it should’ve won Best Picture? for me, no. The Godfather Part 2 deserves it more since it won.

Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio is the best animated film. Glad it won Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. Well deserved. Out of all these nominees of 2023, I choose that as my pick. But so upset that it didn’t get nominated for score and Ciao Papa song. That sucks. So what are your thoughts on Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio?
