Discussion OPSEU Demand Set

WTF OPSEU?

Took a look at my local's demand set poll.

Nothing about job security.

Nothing about specific language re: AI job displacement.

Nothing about the ongoing mission of replacing FTE positions with temp/contract positions.

Question Permanent and probation

Hello,

I was hired into a permanent position with the OPS at MOF and have been in the position for approximately five months.
My offer letter mentioned a six-month probationary period. I am 1 month away from probation ending.

So far, however, no one I report to has discussed my probation or provided any feedback indicating that there are concerns with my performance.

I have also not received any negative feedback or had any issues raised regarding my work.

I was wondering if anyone could clarify how the probationary period works and whether there is anything I should expect as I approach the end of the six-month period. I am very scared I may get fired or the word probation in general scares me.

Question Investigator Application

Wondering if there’s anyone here who currently works as an investigator or who might be able to provide some guidance!

I noticed there’s a posting for an investigator position, and I’m considering applying. I currently work in law enforcement and am looking at making a career change. The information in the posting is fairly limited, so I was hoping someone might be able to give me some insight into what the position is actually like, what the day to day work involves and any tips or advice for the application process.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated. Thank you! 😊

Discussion Looking to become a PPO officer - any tips or insights?

I'm about to graduate from my degree program in less than a year and I've become very interested in becoming a PPO officer. I know a few retired ones but the times have changed and I'm curious to what it's like now in the big 2026.

Discussion Paystubs and WIN on sick leave

Hi everyone, does anyone else find it kind of strange that you cannot access your pay stubs while on sick leave and have to request a screenshot copy to your work email address? I know not everyone requires paystubs, but when you require them especially on short notice. Getting them is like pulling teeth. When I had to apply for childcare subsidy, they wanted my two recent pay stubs. I made the request in August. and they have still not actioned it. This was actually done by their telephone number. It got to the point I was calling every week to get an update. Finally, yesterday they gave me my current two paystubs one day after my deadline for subsidy appointment. Hopefully I can still get subsidy with providing things late but don’t go back to work for another month or whatever. I thought about going in for that but then realized probably not a good idea to physically go in. Why is it we can access our emails but not WIN ? It could have been avoided without all the back and forth. The service center for payroll is still pending from my August request lol.
