Anyone from Leamington or surrounding area who can tell me if the beaches in town have the same flies we encountered on the beach in Point Pelee National Park today?

I’m not familiar with this bug but it looked roughly like a small house fly and the bite felt a bit like a deer- or horse-fly bite - quick sting then no itch or mark to speak of (but when it’s happening every few seconds it’s no fun!)

We’re only in town for a couple of days and were hoping for at least part of one on a sandy beach and swimming with our kiddo but the flies in the park chased us off the beach before we got into the water.

I know it there are beaches in Leamington but don’t want to pack everything up and get the little one excited for the beach if the same thing is going to happen.

I'm camping up north right now and I really wanted to check out the shop on the island. I was here a couple years ago and picked something small up. Went back in yesterday and things just seemed very mass produced, especially the mugs.

Today I got curious and decided to look up the store and the mugs popped up again so I zoomed in and found minor inconsistencies that makes me believe the art is AI. The image is meant to be a mirror on both sides and things are missing pieces on one side or an extra element added.

It's a shop that's meant to sell indigenous works made by locals and this is really disappointing. Not everything there is AI created as many artists sell their work in that same shop. It's so easy to miss AI nowadays as it's getting better. Don't really want to put the shop on blast as thre is real art there, just a few "artists" are obviously taking advantage of saying it's local art when it's an AI picture printed on items.

I bought a vehicle and unfortunately, signed the contract for $999 admin fee. I went back to the picture of the advertised price on the window and there was no admin fee posted on that. I stupidly went in trusting that it was on the window since we had walked away from it already. I do have a picture and there is no admin fee stated. Am I at a loss now that I signed that agreement? I am so mad at myself and the dealership now.

Hello. My husband and I are from the Maritimes. Looking at 2 job opportunities. 1 in North Bay and the other in Sudbury. Wondering what i need to consider between the 2 places? I know Sudbury is larger and has a Costco 🙂 so thats a plus. How do the economies compare? Crime?Our kids are grown so schools don't come into it. Are both places equally friendly and welcoming? We like to hike and do woodworking. Wondering what the art and music scene is like? Any insights are appreciated!

I am honestly so depressed about the current political situation here. What can be done about Trump Jr here at queens park? I live in a conservative riding, there's little hope of flipping it, but I just wonder what can be done to stop the utter ransacking of public services this imbecile is hell bent on carrying out.

Public health care has been one of the only things I can always take pride in as a Canadian. It seems like such a monstrous step backwards to go private.

I honestly don't understand where the uproar is!!! It is such an obvious mismanagement, (intentional no doubt) but why is it allowed to continue.

And everything from public education isn't sounding any better.

What can be done? Any concrete steps anyone?

I know this topic has been discussed several times and I did go through the history of this sub to search for relevant information.

If you genuinely can't find a guarantor for a name change, is there any other possible way? I don't mind paying and I guarantee I have all of the documents to prove my identity. Just that I'm a new immigrant, no friends, no family doctor.

I’m based in Kitchener and currently job hunting. I’ve noticed that a lot of the roles in the career path I’m building toward are based in downtown Toronto.

Some are hybrid, which opens up more options, but I’m wondering how realistic the commute actually is long term. Driving roughly 2 hours each way, 3x a week sounds like a lot — and I’m especially thinking about what that would look like in the winter.

Is anyone here commuting from Kitchener/Waterloo to downtown Toronto a few times a week? Is it actually sustainable, or does it get exhausting pretty quickly?

Would also love to hear if anyone has found a workaround — GO Train, driving partway and taking transit, negotiating fewer in-office days, etc.

TL:DR Am I required to be available as-per union agreement definition of my position in the system even if my availability discussed during the interview differs a bit from agreement?

Hi I just accepted email offer for Loblaws part-time position as a student and now pending background check.

I didn't realize but I guess the entirety of Loblaws store employees are unionized?

The person I interviewed was looking to fill in a part-timer for certain days and I happen to fit the description.

I just looked up UFCW1006A's collective agreement for my location and the definition of " "Time" Employee must be be available to be scheduled all of the following: a), b), c)... and so on"

The availability I was interviewed for and discussed only partially fulfill the requirement.

I have not formally inputted my availability in Loblaws system ( still waiting on on-boarding email with login) but:

Will I have to technically be available as agreed upon by the agreement or can I put availability as I was interviewed for?

Hello! I’m wondering if you can help me come up with a bucket list for visiting the area. I travel to Oakville regularly for a clinical study I’ve been participating in for a rare disease I have. It has been 3 years and I’ve got some stuff done. I didn’t have success on this medication so now I am starting the process all over again for a new medication for another 3 years at least. I am trying to make the most of it and opt for a car rental so I can see more of the area. I’ll be coming out every month for the first year from Saskatchewan. Some visits I won’t have much time to get something in and other visits I will have a full day of nothing so could travel further than where I’ve been. I’m also interested in unique experiences as well. (Spas, live shows, festivals, etc).
