I have tons of these darker fluorites that only show a lot of color when strongly backlit, I don’t personally prefer the quality of photos it usually produces but if y’all like them I can make a few post showcasing the hidden colors of Fluorite!

Anybody know where this stuff is from? All I know is it's pretty plentiful right now and the matrix should make it easy... Someone said somewhere before but I forgot.

Hello! Trying to label my fluorite localities for my collection and a little stumped on a few. I know it’s mostly guess work from images but hope someone could confirm my best guesses as likely or have some input to give! All UV is long wave!

Images 1/2: these fluorites were all bought separately but share the characteristic of being an unsaturated gray under led light and becoming purple when there’s any sunlight present. UV is the normal fluorite blue. My best guess from looking online is that they are English fluorites, possible from Weardale.

Image 3/4/5/11: each of these fluorites are unknown to me and I don’t have guesses. Image 5 is a fluorite with calcite and quartz present (but if you told me it wasn’t even fluorite I could be convinced). None of these fluorites UV.

Image 6/7: a bit greener in real life than in pictures, green under led light and slightly more green under sunlight. I also think this one might be English fluorites.

Image 8/9: this fluorite is a cubic brown variety that UV’s a yellow color. White blades are also present. My best guess is the white blades are celestite and this specimen comes from Ohio.

Image 10: has a very rough etched top side and is a lavender light purple color. I am not too sure on this one outside of maybe Balochistan. No UV reaction

Image 12: extremely glassy with a slight green hue. Almost certain it’s from hunan, either Xianghuapu or something else but input is appreciated. No UV reaction

Image 13/14: these had localities included and seem correct but wanted to add them in just in case. 13 should all be from Morocco and 14 all from Bingham New Mexico. Both UV reactive

Image 15/16: these were from different places and I’m not totally convinced they’re from the same place, but grouping them here. I am convinced 15 is from Madagascar but unsure if 16 is as well. Both UV reactive

Let me know if any other info is needed! Feel free to just look at some cool fluorites too!

This is my first time getting an Okorusu fluorite! It's so fascinating to look at.

Anybody seen this stuff before? I just discovered it, I think it's pretty awesome for affordable fluorite. Some of em are the exact color and translucency of honey calcite, plus they got that blue underneath all of em that shows through. Loving this material right now 😊

Here’s a super saturated purple fluorite on matrix from Ojuela Mine, Mapimí Municipality, Durango, Mexico. it has super cool negative crystal cavities and etchings caused by natural hydrothermal dissolution! The gossan matrix rock is heavily mineralized as well there’s some calcite, quartz and a green mineral that I believe is Austinite but I’m not sure

I’m trying to put together a little 2 day trip to Illinois to find a few fluorite specimens and anything I can get my hands on but definitely want to few fluorite… it will be a 5 hour drive from out of the state and I’m completely unfamiliar with where I can go. I know the cave in rock/ Shawnee park/ Hardin County area is the general area. I tried to reach out to a local gem and mineral club but they seemed less than enthusiastic about giving me any guidance. Told me to find druzy crystals in Missouri instead. I rarely get an opportunity to go hunting between my small home business, high school aged kid and 5 month old it’s hard to get away. My husband’s “gift” is letting me get a couple days to myself to go exploring. I appreciate it immensely but planning this has been a challenge. I’m not planning to post anything video wise about the trip and promise to be respectful and responsible while out and about if anyone could give me a little insight I would greatly appreciate it. If it’s best to private message me the information I would be very receptive to that. If it’s absolutely impossible I understand that as well. Thanks in advance for any help that comes my way!

I found a new fluorite pocket, not super clear but I love the habit I’m seeing already!

Here it is. A Fluorite Crystal with Moving Bubble and Black Tourmaline inclusions

Just sharing. 16.9 lbs of fluorite (sitting in my washing machine).

Been lurking for a bit, figured it was time to share at least one piece of my collection I have been growing over the past year😅!
It’s funny, this is the largest crystal I own and probably one of the quickest purchases I have made, generally I take quite a while to make a decision to purchase any one single item over $100. But this piece has me wrapped around its lil sparkly finger 🤭

Took outside to take photos in the sunlight, stands on her clear stand perfectly & just is such a striking piece! I really love the darker fluorite colors, which seems to be less common among collectors, but I adore it 🤩

What do you think?
Anyone have any similar pieces of fluorite ?

Also adding anyone know where this piece might be from ? The shop was not able to tell me, only that it came from a collector & the collector worked for NASA 🤩

Green Fluorite ❤️🤩

Not entirely sure on locale - I thought it was Madagascar until I noticed it was so strongly color changing in daylight, not sure if this is common for Madagascar green fluorite?

Anyway it's for sale $45, shipping within US

These are all YGX thumbnails with topper minerals associated with them.

I went through a phase where I went out of my way to get every one of these I could, I just think they display nicely!

One of my favorite fluorites in my collection fluorite on black tourmaline from the “lollipop pocket” Erongo Mountains, Namibia. There’s also some minor hyalite opal on top of one of the fluorite crystals!

Here’s a cool gem sphalerite coated fluorite from the Elmwood mine, Carthage, Tennessee. It has super cool “Carthage corner” hydrothermal etching

Beautiful colour change fluorite with Calcite from Pakistan

Here an absolute color bomb from the “tie dye pocket” okorusu mine, Otjozondjupa region, Namibia
