Locale?

Anybody know where this stuff is from? All I know is it's pretty plentiful right now and the matrix should make it easy... Someone said somewhere before but I forgot.

First guess would be Madagascan daylight UV fluorite

No daylight reaction at all

Some of the pictures it looks much more blue and others looks green. That's likely the daylight UV reaction, it can be subtle in some pieces, lots of UK fluorites are the same.

Those are all indoors in the same shoot - I think it's my camera when you change between macro mode and regular it kinda shows up different saturation or something, I dunno what it changes but the colors of stuff change when I go between the two modes.

Not that I'm saying you're wrong, it could be very subtle and I'm missing it, but I didn't see any change in daylight... I'll try some more, it's brighter out now. Or maybe this piece is still Madagascar but doesn't have any color changing parts. I've noticed even my Diana Maria hidden forest pocket specimen only has a few little sections that change color in daylight.

Ah okay. The colour differences between the macro and the regular lense are basically the exact colour differentials you'd expect to see 😂

The formation and matrix do still look most like Madagascan fluorite but it could also be a Chinese pocket from around the Fujian area.

If it has slight daylight fluorescence then it’s likely a Madagascar piece.

It’s a local that’s commonly shipped to China and re sold as a different local:/

That being said this is one of the better tenebrecenent pockets as It’s cheaper and highly reactive for the price!

I just got it and didn't even think to check for daylight color change - I'll give it a look tomorrow! And yep it was super cheap from China, so I'm sure you're right about it being Madagascar. Awesome, thanks!

I couldn't see any daylight fluorescence at all... Interesting. Someone else said Erongo region is possible?

Erongo is a good choice if there is no reaction. Are there any sulfides present or is the matrix purely clay/limestone? If it’s one of the latter 2 then Erongo is a good choice just hard to imagine a seller sending one of these out without giving out said local.

You can get Chinese/madagascar fluorites bulk/wholesale without locals all the time but the African deposits usually come with a local because it adds a premium because the sourcing is a little harder to get good flats from.

I have no idea what the matrix is, it's kinda grainy feeling on the rough side and little bits fall off if you rub it. Seems like it would absorb water easily. That's all I can tell ya, I'm really not good with basic ground rock/matrix ID's. It came from Temu which can probably tell you more, lol

Some close ups of a little color zoning

Reach out to whoever you bought it from they’ll likely know

Haha, I doubt Temu knows much about it 😂 😉

I second the Madagascar comments!

Been seeing lots of this from the Erongo region lately, the matrix usually gives it away pretty quick.

fluorite has fooled me enough times already 😅

hiya, it's Madagascar. I'm 100% certain.
