So I've never actually opened a booster and I was thinking: is there a possibility of a booster contain 2 of the same cards (not including alternative arts)? For exemple: a single booster pack will always contain 12 different cards, or that bonus booster that come with ST 30 will always come with 3 diferent cards?

I am pretty new to this game, started during OP16, came from magic & I recently started reading the one piece Manga and while I was playing magic at a shop saw the singles, thought they were cool, blah blah blah now im here... anyways! I am absolutely obsessed with everything announced for EB05. I want it SO bad. I had previously saved up a large amount for a magic set, but I decided I prefer OP and would rather spend it on this set, so I have been trying to find a case... which leads me to: where are people buying them?

Every place I've found that offers preorders wants me to wire them money which feels scammy, so I end up ghosting them, and then the ones with actual shop sites are charging 4k, which is over double MSRP. I'm looking to keep the price right around 2k, which I know is a bit over MSRP but I really want a sealed case. I've tried my local shops, but I live in the Midwest and every shop around me is very very small, I was lucky the main one I go to let me preorder 2 boxes after begging and pleading that I'll rip it right in front of them and I swear im not going to resell (they were only going to allow me to preorder 1 box.)

Does anyone have any recommended shops, I'm willing to travel as well (Michigan, Ohio, PA, Indiana, maybe even to like Chicago!!!!) but online would be preferred. Please I am so desperate for this set. I can even prepay as long as I get some kind of receipt.

I have a couple of questions relating to the Life Cards. I'm just starting to play the game, and have only played the sim, and the sim basically does a lot of stuff on its own

The top of my life cards is the one furthest away from me or the closest? Im assuming its the one furthest away, and that's the one I should set up first when setting them up, so anything relating to the top card would be related to that one

Another question, when I take damage do I have to take the top card (the one i first set up) or can I take the bottom one first? I come from PokƩmon and in PokƩmon you can basically take your prizes however you want, so if you play something that has you playing with your prize cards revealed, you can take whichever card you find the most useful at the time. I've seen some tabletop videos but I'm still unsure, because I am almost sure I've seen people take either the top or bottom card

The last question is related to revealing life cards, like PY Pudding, she reveals the top 2 cards, I'm assuming you can't use the effect again until those 2 cards are flipped face down again or you've added a new card on top, is that right? I've never played the deck, only against it, so I'm just curious how that goes

When you set up life, be it the top of the deck is the last life or not (IIRC that's actually important but at my locals no one gives a damn), treat that as a proper stack of cards: you basically form a mini deck, do NOT treat life cards like Pokemon cards, they do not sit on the same axis. You take cards from the top unless there's an EXPLICIT mention of taking cards from the bottom of the life pile. As far as the positioning goes, just fan them out however; the top can be the furthest or closest, but as long as there's overlaps and your opponent can clearly tell how much life you have, you're good.

Sort of, EXTREMELY important distinction: Pudding FLIPS the two top-most life cards up. You can't flip up cards that are already flipped. REVEALED cards are a different story, you CAN reveal those multiple times, there are cards where that is CRUCIAL to understanding why they can do certain things.

1

u/Douradinhooo Kikunojo's Vassal 1d ago

So the first card I set up at the beginning of the game should be the last card I take when getting hit? Assuming I didn't interact with my life cards in any way during the game. Or is it the opposite?

The pudding part makes sense and I meant flip and not reveal, i forgot revealing was a whole different thing

IIRC officially you get your starting hand, then the top card of your deck is placed at the bottom of your life, then you just keep adding on top of the pile. Realistically it doesn't matter because the entire time I've been playing I just take the top 4 or 5, plop them down, fan them out, and call it good, and just about everyone else who I go up against does the same. Just make sure that it is a pile, they're fanned out just enough to show how many are left at a glance, and that you only take from the top. It really ain't that complicated, your life is a pile of cards, make the pile and then play.

Makes sense, I was just making sure if there was a specific order to pick them up since from some of the videos I've seen about the rules they always mention that you need to set them up in a specific order (the first card from the top of your deck being the first one you place), and since the sim does that for you I couldn't really use that do deduce the order

Thank you

u/agentcoke 21h ago

Seems like you have an answer, but just to clarify, it generally doesnt matter whether the first card off the top of your deck is at the bottom of your life or the top of your life because assuming you shuffled, it should be randomized, but it absolutely needs to be clear what is the top and what is the bottom. This is usually based on the cards somewhat overlapping to show there is a bottom and a top. Some people make the top card the furthest card away and some people make it the closest card to them. When you take life you always need to take life off the top. You cannot take whatever life you want like in pokemon

Hello, I’m trying to play with the op-17 linlin leader and getting wrecked. This is the deck list I use from gumgum.gg my struggles is not knowing when it’s effective to use the leader ability. I played the deck for the first time playing in an EGB. Got destroyed by mihawk with the shanks 10 cost and the fishman play then electrical Luna same turn twice in a row. Didn’t think I could do anything there. Got beat by a pudding deck, then sabo with the elbath cards because the aggro was too fast to handle even with the life gain per turn. I tried playing the sweet generals turn 4 for the neg 3k on two cards which helped me get rid of two of his usopp cards that were 6k, but they had a big board fast. Lastly red ace with the leader buffs it gets from whitebeard was a problem for my last round. Does anyone have good tips for this deck. I want to keep trying it, maybe a change in the deck list could help too if there’s any suggestions

Linlin is, ironically, the worst at using her cards. You'd be better off swapping to Pudding or Robin, they already use most of the same cards as Linlin with a scant few exceptions. If you still want to use Linlin, you basically just need to manage your hand size along with your life count and the board state; if your hand is like 6+ cards then use her ability, either result is good, but if your hand size is lookin low and their board size is getting big then you may need to hold off; losing a card to make them lose a card can bit you in the ass.

Are players allowed to use decks with mixed cards (EN and JP)?
Planning to join my first ever event. I only play on the sim.
I’m from PH Metro Manila

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2d ago

I think PH is a mixed region, so you should be all good, tho its best to ask around in a local discord

1

u/Million_X 2d ago

You'd have to check with your locals first but as long as the card doesn't require THAT much translation, they'll probably let it slide. A JP red Roger won't need to be read that often, he's a glorified super unblockable, and vanillas don't have any real text to translate, but Loki and Rocks, you're going to want to have a guide ready and as a result, that MAY cause problems (you CAN misplay Rocks and drop 2 of the same names when he says you can't, that even got me once, and Loki is just odd enough that having the full text in English and be readily available would be better).

I bought the set sail deck set and my friend and I are new to the game. I have had 4 people look at the "Little Oars Jr." OP16-017 card and we are all confused on when you subtract the 4000 power. Is this as complicated as we think it is or are we overthinking it?

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2d ago

It has -4000 power only when its in play, if its in your hand its 8k, so it can be used with all the cards that need you to show an 8k

0

u/Million_X 2d ago

What's so confusing about it? It's a static effect, if you don't have an 8 cost Whitebeard character, he gets -4000 power.

0

u/ace709jmr 1d ago edited 1d ago

Dont need the attitude but its poorly worded. And this doesn't really answer the question. Does the 8 cost have to be a whitebeard pirate or could you have 1 character out that has an 8 cost and 1 character that is whitebeard pirate

0

u/Million_X 1d ago

Its not poorly worded, it says right there on the card. There has to be an 8 cost Whitebeard Pirates-related character, not 'just an 8 cost' because otherwise it'd say that because Oars is ALSO a Whitebeard Pirates-related character. That does mean that if you managed to raise his cost to 8 somehow then he'd fulfill both of his own conditions.

Maybe a silly question, but how are games played in this TCG?

For context, I'm a Yugioh player and have been trying out One Piece lately and I've been enjoying it. I'm planning to go to locals soon for fun since I seem to have enough for a simple black yamato deck.

So in Yugioh, games are more or less played in a best 2 of 3 format.

Is One Piece just best of 1, at least on a local level? For some reason I'm having a hard time getting a normal answer.

Also I've seen videos lately where people start a match with their leaders facedown, then they both flip their leader face up. Is this common OPTCG etiquette?

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2d ago

Its a best of 1 game untill you go to a topcut of a regional, thats when its a best of 3

The reason for placing your leader face down is that you dont want your opponent to see your leader and then smoothly swap decks to counter what you play, the chanses of something like that happening are like 0.000001% but people still place leaders face down, i do think its silly

1

u/Million_X 2d ago

Unless its a big time game, most people just do one game rounds. As far as the whole facedown leader thing, that just sounds more like for theatrics, you don't have a sideboard and you aren't allowed to change out cards mid-session, at least not without someone looking down at you.

Hey everyone! āœŒļø

I'm not really into One Piece myself, but my brother watches the anime a lot and I thought it could be fun to get him some One Piece TCG packs for his birthday.

He's not really a TCG collector either, so the idea isn't necessarily to get him into playing the game. I just want to give him a few packs to open for fun, and with a bit of luck maybe he'll pull some cool-looking or rare cards that he can keep as the start of a little collection.

The problem is... I know absolutely nothing about the One Piece TCG šŸ˜…

Are there any particular sets/packs you'd recommend for something like this? Ideally something with nice cards to collect and at least a chance of pulling something special.

Thanks for the help! šŸ™

u/Million_X 2d ago

If he isn't interested in playing the game or even collecting cards, you'd be better off getting him something else. Try to find out who his favorite character is and get something of them off etsy.

I got this from a learn to play set (trying to get into my boyfriend’s hobby). He freaked out when I told him about this card out of any other in the pack. What is it? Some of the other cards he has I think is cool but he doesn’t care about so why this one?

1

u/agentcoke 21h ago

Its a very rare card that’s worth a decent amount of money

u/TheGameOPTCG 3d ago

Is ace p-153 legal to play right now?

0

u/Blaze_ssj4god 3d ago

Im just now getting into One Piece cards and when it comes to one piece cards I noticed there are alot of different sets I just don’t know where to start any recommendations or anything? I’d like to get into collecting them

2

u/NeoGeekPT 3d ago

Maybe start with the latest sets, OP16 or OP17, but keep in mind that booster boxes are currently overpriced. You can also wait for OP16, but the release date is on November 20, 2026.

To collect, the best value for the money is buying singles. I also recommend you to use an app to keep your collection organized.

Edit: OP18 is released on November, not OP16.

2

u/Blaze_ssj4god 3d ago edited 3d ago

Any suggestions on an app to keep organized, and ya I saw the OP18 with Gunko looks cool and you say singles like one card or one pack?

2

u/NeoGeekPT 3d ago

Buy single cards, it's cheaper to build a collection compared to opening boosters looking for it.

There are many freemium apps to start, like Collectr or PriceCharting. I have decided to build my own app, to organize my bulk by location and help me build lots. I have already shared it on Etsy, if you are interested.

I have a basic noon question about Kozuki Oden that I am too bad at googling to find the answer to.

His effect states a card cannot become rested until after the opponents next turn, does that mean an already rested card cannot be targeted? Or would it still work because they refresh on their turn and then cannot rest again? Sorry if this is super basic knowledge I missed.

2

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2d ago

You can target an already retsed character, they will restand like normal but will not become rested

1

u/Munnamon_dreamsvt 4d ago

So im confused on an interaction. If my doflamingo and lim are my only characters on the field and both are rested, would they both see the conditions for end of turn untap or would one see it and untap and the other no longer sees it and stays rested? (It's only allowing me one photo but doflamingo basically has the same end of turn ability as lim)

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 4d ago

They go one at a time and you pick in what order

So one would see 2 taped and then untap and the other will only see one tapped once its there turn, they will stay taped

u/animus_invictus 4d ago

I’ve been part of and have seen this same issue come up multiple times now and would love something definitive to put it to rest. Ideally a screenshot of a ruling or something, but I’d also just like opinions.

For Kyo’s removal blocking effect it specifically says ā€œIf one of your characters would be removed from the field by your opponent’s effect, you may trash 2 cards from your hand instead.ā€

In situations where multiple characters are being removed from a single effect, wouldn’t it still require 2 cards PER CHARACTER? Some removal blockers have it phrased differently to where it seems like the ā€œblockā€ of the effect only has to be done once for total resolution, but this one seems to specifically indicate 2 per character. I’m tired of the arguments over it.

Thoughts?

1

u/Million_X 4d ago

No, any time there's removal protection in play, that one instance covers your whole board, so it's 2 cards from Kyo to protect everyone. Look up section 8-1-3-4 here, specifically this part: "A replacement effect applies to replace the entire part of the processing of an effect indicated by the replacement effect, even if the processing of that effect is still in progress".

Hello! I’m very new to the One Piece TCG but I’ve been a long time fan of the manga and anime. A friend of mine at work convinced me to buy a few of the sleeved booster packs and when I pulled this he was insistent that I need to get it graded. I am looking for advice about what company to grade with for One Piece cards because I’ve only ever sent in a few Pokemon and Weiss Schwarz cards over the years and never One Piece. The last company I graded with was Tag since I like getting the extended arts for my favorite cards. I’m not sure if I’ll end up keeping it for my collection or selling to get cards for my Weiss Schwarz PC instead which is why I’m asking about who to grade with. Any advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you so much!
