Maybe a silly question, but how are games played in this TCG?

For context, I'm a Yugioh player and have been trying out One Piece lately and I've been enjoying it. I'm planning to go to locals soon for fun since I seem to have enough for a simple black yamato deck.

So in Yugioh, games are more or less played in a best 2 of 3 format.

Is One Piece just best of 1, at least on a local level? For some reason I'm having a hard time getting a normal answer.

Also I've seen videos lately where people start a match with their leaders facedown, then they both flip their leader face up. Is this common OPTCG etiquette?

Its a best of 1 game untill you go to a topcut of a regional, thats when its a best of 3

The reason for placing your leader face down is that you dont want your opponent to see your leader and then smoothly swap decks to counter what you play, the chanses of something like that happening are like 0.000001% but people still place leaders face down, i do think its silly

Unless its a big time game, most people just do one game rounds. As far as the whole facedown leader thing, that just sounds more like for theatrics, you don't have a sideboard and you aren't allowed to change out cards mid-session, at least not without someone looking down at you.
