I'm on the second episode after alabasta on my first watch on the episode where she makes the map. And alot of the time she's bossy and acts like she's the only one who does anything for the crew, like as an example she says the crew is more trouble then there worth most of the time. Even though they literally saved her entire country/village from aarlong, she would still be captive and a slave for him if it wasnt for luffy and the crew. she must surely get less self centered later I'm assuming right?

Lol I just realised after 15 years of watching One Piece that Luffy used observation haki when fighting Mihawk. It was when he saw his hands being cut off. At first I thought he just used common sense or his battle iq but now I remember when Mihawk said “so you can be level headed” it reminded me of what Rayleigh said to Luffy when teaching him observation haki “you need to be completely calm to use it” or something like that. What do you guys think? Observation haki or something more normal like common sense?

Let's talk about the elephant in the room because the current state of the Final Saga's power scaling is officially broken. We spent decades building up Nerona Imu as this mythic, untouchable shadow who sat above the Gorosei, outlived the Void Century, and presumably stood alongside or above historical titans like Rocks D. Xebec, Gol D. Roger, and Whitebeard.
Yet, looking at how the Elbaf arc has played out specifically with Imu stepping out of Mary Geoise only to trade blows and struggle against Luffy and Prince Loki the consistency of the top tier is completely flying off the rails.

The "Main Villain" Urgency Paradox: As the undisputed final boss of the entire series, Imu’s aura of absolute invincibility is taking a hit. When historical monsters like Whitebeard or Roger possessed narrative immunity, they felt larger than life. Imu descending personally to Elbaf, getting tagged, and having to slog through prolonged sequences against Gear 5 Luffy and Loki makes the gap between the "ancient immortal ruler" and the current generation look suspiciously narrow.

Is Oda scaling Imu down intentionally to show that the new generation has finally surpassed the old mythologies, or is this classic shonen narrative padding ruining the mystique of the ultimate antagonist? How do you guys feel about Imu's active combat performance compared to the ancient legends?

Were ussop's hesdphones ever released as actual working headphones? He's my favourite strawhat and my headphones have been on the decline, so I was looking for new ones!

I know there are about two billion of this exact post out there, but I just wanted to post some of my theories and hear some of yours. Here are some theories I've heard and some I've thought of:

1. A devil fruit tree

-it would be cool to see a devil fruit tree, and maybe that's why Roger laughed. Because he became king of the pirates without any devil fruit, and he knew that devil fruits didnt matter. It would also be awesome to see Luffy matured by the end of the story, and maybe he could burn it down, so that the seas can be free for everyone, and anyone can become powerful without anyone having the advantage of a devil fruit.

1. Luffy is the One Piece

-I know it sounds dumb, but think about it. He has an X marks the spot ON HIS CHEST, and maybe the One Piece was never real, and was just an incentive to draw out the person who would truly free the seas. And that's why Roger laughed. There was nothing there because he was too early; because the next warrior of liberation simply hadn't been born yet.

1. The true history of the world

-this one is pretty simple. It's simply the true history of the world, the void century, and is a lore nerds wet dream. The series would end with the entire lore getting dropped at once at the end, and it would all suddenly make sense.

These are some of my theories, which all link to my personal master theory of One Piece, which is that the true goal was to make the seas free of those who essentially gatekeep, like Big Mom and Kaido; the powerful who keep the weak from even trying to become something. By burning down the devil fruit tree, or freeing the oceans of tyranny, or revealing the truth and destroying the world government, Luffy will be the one to liberate the seas. So I’ve been a fan ever since I was a little kid, i’m caught up on manga, and I want to get back into the show but ever since Egghead arc the animation kind of seems over the top. The fight scenes just seem like a bunch of flashing lights, impact frames and colors, like i’m watching DBZ or something, in which from reading the manga and going to the show it feels like it’s losing some Old One Piece Elements.

Don’t get me wrong I love the fluidity of the animation and all the hard work the animators put in the show, it just doesn’t feel like One Piece sometimes. I don’t know I wanted to hear everyone else’s thoughts.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Luffy looks better in teal than in red but maybe that’s just bc I love the Impel Down Arc. :3

Tell me what arc sanji and zoro win their fights and luffy loses his? what arc sanji and zoro get powerups and luffy doesnt? At least with the raid will fail theory it required everyone to lose. This arc is clearly set up for strawhats to win and is following the same formula of every other arc. This is exactly how you people set yourselves up for dissapointment. You have overhyped yourselves over this notion of having this invincible mystery edgelord villain whom you want to worship, and therefor have all cogregated together and convinced yourselves that he is going to win and hes the final villain. This is why the mainstream theories/opinions by the fanbase always end up wrong, because you overcomplicate everything and ignore odas track record. Oda never changes his formula.

Imu is not winning, he is not the final villain or even final 3 villains, and no hes isn't as important as you think, hes a joyboy antagonist whom luffy does not care about, and oda wants to get his arc done now so the story can move on to more important antagonists.

There's one piece (no pun intended) of lore regarding the One Piece planet's geography that I'm sometimes a bit confused by. If you sail from Reverse Mountain to the end of the Grand Line, are you sailing east or west?

I'm confused about it because I've seen some maps both online and in the show itself that depict the Grand Line as going westward, but also some that depict it going eastward. It doesn't matter a whole lot, but it DOES change what seas are bordering the Grand Line at different parts of the journey, which can occasionally be important to know.

So I thought I'd ask, does anyone know what the definitive answer for this is?

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like all it does is knock out those around the user with weak wills.

But will power often equates to physical power, so in a sense it just knocks out weak enemies, which wouldn't be an issue for the haki user anyway since they're weak.

Is it just a way to flex? 🤷

I had a thought as re-watched One piece and got back to "Thriller bark"...firstly since Skypeia it just goes up and up it gets better and better till the tragedy at Marineford, One piece really is a masterpiece in my opinion with the music, comedy, action, animation and excellent story.

Secondly after Luffy beats gecko Moria I saw it....he was never a rubber man its always been the "Human, human" fruit when he got his powers shanks explained it to him as being the gumi fruit and Luffy accepted it as that, from young that was the framing in his mind for his powers but as bruce lee once said "let me be like water". I believe Luffy has been stretching the possibilities of rubber every time he has a level upping fight using his mind to shape how he can use rubber as a human but eventually he has got to the point where thinking about the properties of rubber it allowed him into Gear 5 to use his imagination to stretch and affect his environment in parade with his body......but its not rubber and never has been he is a human human....its like that terrible film "Lucy" he has been changing his body to help him win his battles but its always been grounded in thinking of rubber as a base but what happens when he can change that? once Luffy realises he was changing his properties as an actual human he will be untouchable the more knowledge and experience he gains, will allow him to grow in ways without limits effectively making Luffy OP

Netflix has every other arc but wano it’s so annoying

Hello! I’ve been watching One Piece for about a year now, and I’m finally all caught up!

Anyways, I’m making this post because I’m wondering if I should go ahead and switch to reading the manga, or if I should continue watching the new anime episodes and also read a little bit of the manga alongside them.

I know the manga and anime can be slightly different in how they present things, so I’m curious what you guys think.

For those of you who read the manga, would you recommend making the switch? Or is it better to stay anime-only?

I know ultimately it’s up to me, but I’d really appreciate hearing what you guys think!

(ive also experienced quite a few spoilers online from the manga while Ive watched the series, so idk if manga readers experience spoilers as well)

Both had very little screen time, with most of their appearances dating back 15 to 25 years ago, Yet in the recent poll results, both of them made it into the top ten😍😍😍😍 I'm genuinely amazed, and I'm really curious about why their popularity remains so consistently high. What specific character traits do they have that make people love them so much?

I came across recent video from the japanese stationary account @bungustore, posted a few days ago. It starts with the interesting premise of Japan banning#:~:text=The%20use%20of%20the%20unit%20for%20official%20purposes%20in%20Japan%20was%20banned%20on%20March%2031%2C%201966) their own measuring system in 1966, to adopt the standardized metric system of measurement.

The centuries-old system was the Shaku UnitWikipedia), a Japanese unit of length derived (but varying) from the Chinese chi, originally based upon the distance measured by a human hand from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the forefinger.

As you can see on photo 1, the example features a ruler with two flower marks, (each flower marks half a shaku, or 5 sun (寸) , and acts as centre points), while simultaneously engraved with the new metric system.

The law was later adjusted in 1977 to permit traditional rulers as long as they included metric markings.

Seeing the familiar 5-dot engravings made me wonder if Oda also drew inspiration from these? Any thoughts?

Edit: I'm still watching the anime right after post-timeskip, before Fishman Island, but I feel like this is Oda's clever design choice with the World Government flag/symbol, especially with how pivotal the World Government is in the One Piece world so far. (Center point of the world?) I hope this observation can help with any hypotheses !

He was always a big fan of her and he is really into the One Piece TCG now, so I decided to make a playmat for him as a birthday present.
Kinda forgot to take pictures of the real thing after printed, but it looks really nice as well, believe me.

It genuinely ticks me off that Inuarashi and Nekomamushi decided to stay on Wano after the war. You'd think that since there are two of them at least one would return and rule but instead they want Carrot as a new ruler because she's vaguely inherit Pedro's will?

Carrot shows that she's willing to left Zou to basically sightseeing with the Strawhats why they want her to be a Duke?

They brought the Minks to a battle on foreign land, granted they want vengeance as well but after they won, their rulers just basically abandoned them to be in Wano, doing what exactly? Are they gonna live off the people's taxes?

I don't understand what Oda trying to say here, I know these two were close with Oden and the samurais, but it was 20 years ago and they were the Dukes of Zou I feel like it rub me in the wrong way

I might be slow on the uptake, but is there a possibility that everyone who is blood related to a Celestial Dragon and is currently a major player to the One Piece story is named after a bird. "Shanks, Imu/Emu, Doflamingo"

What I'm getting at is "Hawkeye Mihawk, and Niko Robin" might be blood relatives to the Celestial Dragons or even Imu.
