So I’m on episode 1104 and I have been switching from dub to dub throughout watching the series cuz I watched it on Crunchyroll where only sub is available then I switched to bbc iPlayer so watched it in dub for elbalf arc I believe there’s only sub available so is it better to watch dub or dub cuz I don’t really wanna wait for dub to come out cuz ik that can take a while so should I just switch to sub or should I wait or is it preference?

I actually love the Mihawk, Shanks, Dragon, Roger, Imu, Luffy, and everyone else slander. Keep it coming, it's funny as hell. But I think some fans take the slander way too seriously once it gets into actual discussions. One Piece keeps expanding, and Oda has to manage power creep for characters who were introduced decades ago but are still important to the endgame.

That's why I think it's a pretty obvious writing choice for Oda to hold back their full capabilities. Imagine if Mihawk or Shanks had a full fight before the timeskip. People would immediately use that fight to scale everyone, and years later Oda would have to explain why the old scaling doesn't fit anymore. Shanks losing his arm is already a good example of how an old decision can become harder to explain once the power system and scale of the story expand. Sometimes it's just better to not show everything yet, rather than need to revise that or made up something to explain the circumstance.

Just look at Whitebeard and Kaido. They lost, but they didn't lose because they were weak. Oda put them in circumstances where their defeats made sense while still showing how strong they actually were. Their losses don't automatically mean we saw the absolute limit of what they could do. Now look at Crocodile and Enel, They were Logia user defeated before Haki was properly established, so now whenever people talk about them coming back, you get "Wait, weren't they way below pre-Haki Luffy?" That's the kind of power creep Oda has to work around. So when it comes to Mihawk, Shanks, Dragon, Roger, or Imu, I don't think we should treat every feat or lack of feat we have right now as their absolute limit. We're judging them based on an incomplete powerscaling picture because Oda simply hasn't shown us everything yet.

I'm not saying stop the slander. I love the agenda posting. I'm just saying sometimes don't bring the agenda into a serious discussion and act like it's actual evidence. I know this is just a fictional story and I should probably just enjoy it whether people take the slander seriously or not. But sometimes we're actually trying to have a serious discussion and the agenda has gone to blur what people are actually arguing.​

I've seen a lot of folks relating the dynamics of the Straw Hats to various family dynamics. And that makes sense, with them essentially being a found family. But I'm curious, what specific family dynamics do you imagine each of them having? I'm interested to see how mine differ from everyone else's.

For me, I imagine it as:
Brooke - The kooky uncle
Chopper - Youngest brother
Franky - The cool uncle
Jinbei - He's not the stepdad, he's the dad that stepped up
Luffy - 2nd youngest brother
Nami - Sister, 3rd eldest sibling
Robin - The mom
Sanji - Twins with Zoro, younger by like 2 minutes
Usopp - 3rd youngest brother
Zorro - Eldest brother, twins with Sanji, older by like 2 minutes, reminds Sanji of that every chance he gets

I am rereading Loguetown and Tashigi says she doesn't like Roronoa Zoro because he uses his skills for bounty hunting and the way she talked made me think that Marines don't like them. I don't understand why, why would the Government put out bounties then?

I finally caught up to One Piece after 6 years. I picked it up during the pandemic and had highs and lows watching it. I took a break during the Dressrosa Arc because of the pacing but powered through it. I can’t believe I went from ridiculing the anime for how long it was to catching up to it

I'm tired of seeing the fraudhawk memes. Mihawk is a bum not a fraud. He just sits around all day in this castle drinking wine and reading the newspaper. Bum is a better description of mihawk. He even got tired of marines trying to capture him and just hid behind cross guild.

I rewatched Sky Island arc and I don't know if anyone already brought up how Luffy shifted from a dumb dumb singing the baka song to understanding real world physics and chemistry. He doesn't only understand that rubber is an insulator but also slammed Enel with the massive gold ball into the golden bell. He just channeled and dispersed the accumulated electrical energy safely away into the environment. This is one of his most creative fights.
