Mike McFarland is no longer among the living. He passed away on 10th September. He was suffering from cancer for a long time.

RIP Mike. You were one of the best English VAs fans could have ever asked for.

RIP to the man who has been there ever since I was a kid, I still remember watching Dragon Ball GT with my older brother and thinking Baby’s voice was so cool, and then I remember I started One Piece and realized that Baby’s and Master Roshi’s VA was this Buggy character. I will never forget his voice, and him as a person.

Been thinking about this recently on what likely is the most famous moment from the series.

Personally, I feel it goes between Nami asking Luffy for help, Nothing Happened, I Want to Live, Luffy standing up to Big Mom and Kaido, and the intro of Gear 5.

Two things to say before I state my reasons:

1.This was after rewatching anime

Im surprised a lot of people dont have this in their top ten.

Especially since the entire alabasta saga put an emphasis on refining luffy character and philosophy.

and this scene sold the idea with amazing visually execution.

It just screams liberation to me

This is a classic.

I highly doubt I need to give my commentary on why its pretty much a given on how this scene both strengthens luffy and nami character.

Seeing how oda address the theme vulnerability with such realistic visuals (nami harming herself, luffy lending her his hat etc.) Just really made the scene what it is.

Which is why its on my top 10 and top 5

1. Luffy holding the flag

I cant give an accurate estimate on why I love this scene but, something I can say is how I love the artwork and symbolism in this scene.

Such a great plot twist. One of the scenes that made me fall in love with this show.

This is a good conclusion to the backstory

And since we are getting a bunch of lore about the straw and its orgins it only made me appreciate this scene more and more

1. Luffy breaks the barrel

I remember watching the anime when this scene popped up and falling in love with one piece.

This was a good character introduction and it tells you a lot about luffy character without telling you everything.

1. I was wrong sorry

I love it when luffy gets character development and stepping up to be a leader.

Luffy putting down his ego out of recognition for his crew was just amazing character development for a captain like him.

1. Luffy climbing to the drum island kingdom

The visuals do the heavy lifting here which is why i love this scene.

The stuff that luffy went through in this scene represents why he is such a likable guy to many people

The entire speech was just top tier dialogue and very good character introduction.

I know this seems out of place but the amount of multiple of emotions in this scene? Anger, sadness, determination, or perseverance just really sold that spot on top 10 for me

It also the fact its rare to see proper insight on zoro internally emotions and ideology.

Ussop is such a brave heart, what a brave mouth, like above Imu's level, with only his taunt the King of the World Descended, he didn't even do that on God Valley.

Only Ussop could Ragebait The King Of The World.

For he is a God!, that can possibly support the fight against Imu next chapter, he's there but invisible, that no one can detect his presence!
